DEEPEST Ear Crater Revealed! 🕳️ Massive Dead Skin & Wax Removal. Episode 630Added:
Thanks for joining me for this really interesting earwax removal procedure where you're going to see a huge crater in this gentleman's ear canal which you can see here. So, this is a sneak peek of the end of the video.
So, I thought you might like to see what it looked like afterwards before you see me removing everything. Here I'm actually pointing the endoscope directly down at the floor. And it's a it's a nice looking crater. It's a clean crater. But it wasn't to start with.
And so stay tuned and you will be able to see how we get to that point. So, this is the patient's second ear which um there isn't a crater in this one. I can kind of see how his other one may have formed though. Because there is a bit of a a bit of a a depression, a kind of sunken area. Cuz we're not quite sure how this formed. Now, I've seen this gentleman I think six or seven times now. He comes every 9 to 12 months there or thereabouts. Sometimes goes to public health appointments.
Uh they don't always clear it out despite me leaving them some instructions as to where this thing is and and to make sure you don't leave anything on the floor of the ear canal.
But that's another story.
Um so, it could have been caused by a few things. Um you've got a possible canal cholesteatoma which is a ball of skin that's growing um downwards uh into the skin and breaking the skin and slowly um slowly making the bone deteriorate to the point that you get this hole.
It could have been a problem with the blood supply which would be osteonecrosis where the blood where the bone doesn't receive the correct amount of of blood flow.
And therefore, if it doesn't receive blood flow, it doesn't receive oxygen.
Therefore, it dies.
Uh it could be that too. We just don't know to be honest. Um all we know is that it stayed pretty much the same.
Uh it could have been just formed cuz he had a a giant plug was putting pressure on it as well.
Um but we just don't know. But his uh his other ear is clear now as you can see.
Got quite a an ear canal that kind of ventures uphill a little bit as well.
So, it's a bit tricky and he does find it difficult due to he doesn't have a great neck. So, he can't really tilt to the side much and he's he's got a little bit of a a hunch as well. So, it's quite difficult to get the right angles to get um in this ear. But this is the one that you're going to see the crater in. If you didn't know it was there, you'd be tempted to not even explore that area. He does wear hearing aids, too. And that's part of the reason why this is squashed in there.
Which probably contributes to it filling up as well cuz every time he puts his hearing aid in it, squashes this down into this crater.
So, yeah. Speaking of craters, I am obviously uh as you can see from the background uh another uh image courtesy of NASA and Artemis. I think it was Orion, though, wasn't it? The the top section of it that that uh that got this amazing image.
Does fascinate me. Um and the kids, I've always told them to be as curious as you can and ask lots of questions and like knowing stuff.
Um They do ask me too many sometimes where I think, "Oh, I don't know the answer to that. I've told you to be curious, but I don't know the questions to the I don't know the answers to the questions you're asking."
Like they're they're always asking me stuff like, "Oh, what's what's beyond the universe? How's how how do we get here? What's the meaning of life and all that?" I'm like, "Well, don't know everything."
But [laughter] I said, "I'll try and find out for you."
Um but it's good to be curious.
>> [snorts] >> But look at this. You can just start to see it peeling away now. You can just see the edge of this crater now.
So, you can see it's just as you get into the ear, it's kind of down. So, it's really on the uh lateral aspect uh of the ear. And you're just going to you will see it just lift it lifts up so lovely. It's really nice how it happens.
So, I'm trying to see if we can lift it from there. It's not quite up in So, I'm going to get a bit There we go.
Got a nice grip and there it is.
Came out nice and clean as well.
Now, it's not exposed bone you can see there. It would have been at some point more than likely. I think there is a a very thin layer of tissue over it. So, that's why it's slightly a different color uh than the rest of the ear.
So, let's do some cuz if you've never watched the channel before, well, if you have watched the channel before, you know where I'm going with this. Um there's only so much you can say about what's going on. I've already explained everything. I'm just tidying up the rest of it and let's drift off topic and started doing a little section called fun fact of the day.
And I thought it's appropriate while we're um exploring a crater in someone's ear.
And I thought the perfect background for that has to be the surface of the moon.
Let's have a few fun facts of the day about the moon, shall we?
Did you I might be wrong on some of these.
>> [gasps] >> Um feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
But I do like to read a lot of stuff and find out stuff. I'm like a font of useless information.
Did you know that the moon is actually moving away from us very slowly.
I believe it's by about 3 cm a year. So, I don't think it's something we need to worry about in our lifetime affecting us too much. But it is slowly moving away from us.
Another fun fact about it is it's not actually perfectly round.
There's not a lot of people know that.
You'll look in the sky and think, "Yeah, it's perfectly round." But it's not.
It's actually kind of lemon shaped or egg shaped. And the reason for that is it was caused by This is nothing to do with earwax, I know. Thought you might be interested. It's all all along the lines of a crater. It was actually formed when a uh uh when a giant mass about the size of Mars collided with Earth and I think the all the debris from that uh began to form the moon. But the reason why it's um egg shaped or lemon shaped, I just I think it's slightly bigger at the equators of it is because when it first formed, it was a bit more malleable.
It was a bit more liquid state. And that means it was affected by the Earth's gravity.
Flipping phone. It was affected by the Earth's gravity. So, as it was being pulled, it was kind of being stretched a little bit. Not as much that you'd you'd actually see it with the naked eye. But yeah, it's not perfectly round. Fun fact of the day.
And if you're on there, you're a sixth of the weight that you normally are.
So, if you want an easy way to lose weight, then become an astronaut and go fly to the moon.
>> [laughter] >> Uh that's the easiest way of doing it.
He did start feeling it at this point, actually.
Uh but I I thought it was still important to get it cuz if I didn't get it, then this stuff would eventually migrate and probably fall into that crater.
So, um did my best to get as much of it as we possibly can, anyway.
Also, popular misconception is there is no dark side to the moon. It does get sunlight, but it gets sunlight when it's because it's it we never see it, but obviously it because it's constantly rotating around the Earth at the same. So, it's kind of like that.
At some point, what we would know as the dark side of the moon still points to the sun. So, it it does get sunlight.
It's not the dark side. It's just dark towards if that makes sense.
I know I'm boring a lot of you with this, but I generally get fascinated with stuff and fall into wormholes when I start wondering about things. And I think that's a a good thing.
Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this uh video.
You will no doubt see this gentleman again because I'm sure he's already appeared in at least three or four videos.
You can guarantee that the word crater or hole or cavity might well be in it in the title of it. If you want to go find the other ones, go and have a look.
Uh so, little bit more tidying up. Just tidying up the edge there, but uh I'm happy with that. So, we're going to get a good look at it again. This is the clips that you saw at the beginning of the video.
And if you have enjoyed the video, please make sure you uh subscribe to the channel. I would appreciate it. Uh click a like. There's even a hype button you can press as well which all helps the channel to grow. So, I appreciate that.
And I've forgotten to subscribe of the day.
>> [snorts] >> I'll do two next video. I absolutely promise. Just leave us a comment down below saying, "Can I be subscriber of the day?" And your your chances are better because I'll do two next time.
>> [laughter] >> Anyway.
Uh I hope you enjoyed that, found it interesting, and I didn't bore you too much with my useless information. Uh but for now, take care of yourself and I'll see you later. Ta-ta.
