Men's crop tops have evolved from 1980s athletic wear (originally called 'short tops' when NFL players cut their jerseys for comfort) to a mainstream fashion statement worn by celebrities like Kid Cudi, Bad Bunny, and Harry Styles, representing a shift in men's fashion that reflects increased confidence and body positivity, though opinions on their appropriateness vary based on context and personal comfort levels.

Should Men Wear Crop Tops? | The Social
Added:Guys and baby tees are once again a thing.
>> me.
>> Just check out Jeremy Allen White, Bad Bunny, and Kid Cudi. SO, ARE YOU GUYS ARE YOU GUYS INTO CROP TOPS ON MEN?
>> [cheering] >> I AM SO I am so into this. I can't even tell. Well, I think part of it is that like this was just a regular mainstay in the '80s. Does anyone remember?
Like people like I'm going to use some examples that are a bit later, but like Prince was of course one of the people who did this. But Mark Wahlberg, I showed this for you. There's an ad that he did. There are so many countless examples. Just Google it. But then more recently Lenny Kravitz has brought back.
And then who's this footballer? Somebody tell me who this footballer is.
>> Enrique Ezekiel Elliott.
>> Ezekiel Elliott. Okay, something like Anyway, these guys look You don't think that looks good?
>> I don't agree with you because it's not TAILORED PROPERLY.
>> I I THINK it needs to be the sport because I totally remember the '70s and '80s. Like teenagers would wear, you know, the tube socks and short shorts and then a crop top. Rocky and Apollo ran on the beach in Rocky III in those.
But it's the athletic side of things.
But I think when it becomes like if you're going to like a wedding >> or or something like that.
Yeah.
>> That that kind of throws me off of it.
>> funny because this actually originated in football. This was the '80s look and they called it the short top because the NFLers were too hot in their full jersey. So they just started cutting their jerseys in the '80s and that became the athletic component to this.
But I'm going to go out there and assume that those players also had a six-pack because this is not a look that's for everybody. Uh to which, you know, I understand as a woman like you know, guys it's hard to have your body scrutinized. But if you really love this top, I say rock it. To me it says something about the man wearing it.
>> It does.
>> You know what it Well, at least and maybe this is the print. It's confident.
You're like this is my masculinity. I have no worries about what you think of me.
>> I think I think the confidence of a of a man because I've seen a woman before. I remember being so struck by it. She was wearing a crop top and she had a protruding belly, a big belly. And I remember seeing her and being like, "You are my hero." She was just She was like no one She didn't care what anyone was saying or looking at. And the way she strutted to If a man did the same thing, I would be like, "You are my hero, sir.
That is amazing."
>> I'm sorry. I don't know if you're not During the summertime, I see lots of bellies out all the time. They don't need to be flat for that athletic. I see The men are letting it all hang out. The boobs, the bellies. And for me, it's not about a six-pack or about a keg. For me, it's about Maybe I'm sounding conservative, but if you If I'm attracted to you, I don't want you to give me the whole movie. I want the trailer. I want to see a silhouette.
>> You're getting a trailer. YOU'RE GETTING A HAPPY TRAIL.
>> That is the whole movie. There's nothing I don't want to see. Also, where are we going? Like, we're talking rock stars and you're talking athletes. The regular dudes that we date and are married to, where are you going? You're picking up your kid, you're going TO SOCCER PRACTICE. WHERE ARE YOU GOING IN THIS CROP TOP? Where are you going IN THIS TOP?
I JUST DON'T WANT TO SEE IT.
>> WE ARE UH YEAH. GREAT. [applause] Uh Ryan, uh please be dressed appropriately when I come to the house.
>> [laughter] >> Oh, shoot. We're on TV.
