This Panchatantra story illustrates that proactive planning and quick thinking save lives, while passive reliance on fate leads to ruin. Three fish friends face a threat from fishermen: Angata (the far-sighted one) leaves the pond immediately upon hearing the fishermen's plan; Pratut Panami (the clever one) waits but escapes by pretending to be dead when caught in the net; Yadbhavishya (the fatalist) panics and thrashes, attracting the fisherman's attention and being caught. The moral teaches that individuals who anticipate danger and act in advance, or who use presence of mind during crises, will remain safe, whereas those who passively wait for fate will face ruin.

Don't Leave Your Life to Fate! The Story of Three Fishes (Panchatantra English) #shortstoriesAdded:
Have you ever wondered why some people always manage to get out of trouble while others get stuck? Today we are going on an underwater adventure to meet three fish friends. They look the same, but they think very differently. Let's see whose brain saves the day.
In a pond there lived three fishes.
They were good friends but their natures were very different.
The first fish was named Angata.
She was very far-sighted and would always think of a solution before any danger even arrived.
The second fish was named Pratut Panami.
She was very clever, quickwitted and resourceful.
She believed that whenever a problem arose, she would use her presence of mind to find a way out right at that moment.
The third fish was named Yadhavisha who believed entirely in fate.
Her philosophy was whatever is written in destiny will happen.
What is the use of worrying unnecessarily?
One evening a few fishermen were passing by the edge of that pond.
They noticed that the pond was full of fish.
One fisherman said, "It is getting late now, but tomorrow morning we will come back, cast our net here, and catch a lot of fish."
>> The three fishes heard this conversation.
Angatwitta, the first fish, immediately said to her friends, companions, "We should leave this pond right now.
Under the cover of darkness, we should swim with the flow of the water and move to a nearby river or a larger pond.
When the fisherman arrive tomorrow morning, we will all be killed.
Saying this, she did not wait for anyone else to agree and left the pond that very night for a safer place.
Pratut Panami, the second fish, said, "Why should I leave my home in advance?
When the fishermen cast their net tomorrow, I will use my intelligence to figure out a way to save my life."
Yad Bhavisha the third fish said this pond belonged to our ancestors.
Leaving it would be foolish.
If death is meant to come, it will find us anywhere.
Whatever is in our destiny, we shall see.
The next morning, the fishermen arrived and threw their heavy net into the pond.
The second and third fishes along with many others were caught in the net.
Now Pratut Panami the second fish had to think quickly to save her life.
She became completely still inside the net, held her breath and pretended to be dead.
When the fisherman pulled the net out, they assumed she was dead and tossed her aside on the dry ground.
The moment she got the opportunity, she jumped with all her might and slipped back into the deep water of the pond.
This is how she saved her life.
However, Yad Bhavisha, the third fish, just waited for fate to take its course.
Caught in the net, she began to panic and thrash around wildly.
The fisherman spotted her struggling, quickly grabbed her, and tossed her into their basket.
Foresight and intelligence save lives. A person who anticipates approaching danger and makes a plan in advance as well as one who uses their presence of mind when trouble strikes will always remain safe in life.
Do not rely solely on fate. A person who only sits back waiting on luck or destiny and takes no action like the third fish is certain to face ruin.
