Bill Is In The Hospital. Surgery Tomorrow!!Ajouté :
Well, folks, we're headed to the ER.
>> Yep.
>> We'll know more here in just a little while, and then we'll let you know what we found out.
Right? Okay.
>> Yep.
>> We'll see you in a bit.
All right, everyone. We're going to give you an update here. What happened was I was stepping into the shower 10 days ago. I scraped the middle toe on my left foot right up against the shower step as before I walked in and it took the skin off on the tip of my toe.
Uh we didn't think a whole lot about it.
It bled, you know.
>> Bled good. We talked about it.
>> Put Band-Aid on it.
>> Yeah, yeah.
>> Good to go, right?
>> Put all of our wound dressing stuff and from stuff we learned from wounds in the past.
Um however, within 2 days, this hard shell formed on the very tip of the toe.
First, we thought it was a scab. Then, we realized that it's not a scab.
>> see a scab like this.
>> of black and ugly.
So, uh anyway, we went to see my regular uh primary doctor and he was on vacation.
Um we got a uh >> nurse practitioner >> nurse practitioner. Um she she uh immediately looked at it and said it's she she called it ne- necrosis.
>> necrosis >> Yeah.
Um now, but then so what she did, she sent over some referrals and uh to to uh a surgeon and also to a wound specialist in case we needed one. Um and uh so then we tried contacting them.
Well, the orthopedic surgeon, which we I knew I was going to have to have that no matter what at the very least to have it debride or debreed, I call it debreed, they call it debride.
Um and the the next scenario, of course, would be removal of part of the toe.
Uh and I knew I needed to get something done soon because we've been [clears throat] down these roads in the past, but it's been quite a while. We've really done quite well.
>> Well, the last time was in 2019.
>> Yeah, I mean way back then. Yeah.
>> But, um >> [snorts] >> anyway, the orthopedic surgeon couldn't see me until next Wednesday.
Well, we knew that next Wednesday there was going to be a whole lot more damage done, which might require a lot more extensive surgery.
Uh now, I don't even want to talk about that right now, but I think you know where I'm leading when I say that. Um so, we went ahead and came into the ER.
Uh everybody told us we did the right thing.
Um and they've done several tests today.
All my blood work came back really, really well, which I was really happy to see that. There's a few more tests that they've been running.
Um and some are ongoing at the moment. Uh but, uh the biggest thing that I was mainly concerned about more than anything else cuz I'm always concerned about infections because you know, I've had a lot of major infections over the years, and some have involved no wounds whatsoever. You know, but, uh anyway, uh my um white blood cell count was seven. So, right in the middle of the normal range.
Almost everything, all the blood work, everything was in the middle of the normal range.
>> So, that's a good sign.
>> Yeah. And they just came in and checked my blood sugar just now, and it was 112.
>> So, that's that's good.
>> that's good. So, uh no fever, no chills, uh the the the foot is not warm to the touch compared to the rest of my skin.
All those things are all positive things.
But, uh the way it stands right now, uh they've got a few more tests they're going to be doing, but it's very probable that uh I will be uh on the slab >> Slab?
>> in the in the [snorts] morning.
>> That's not what No.
>> no.
>> The slab is in the mortuary, more like.
>> On the table in the morning.
Trying to keep a positive outlook on this.
>> That's not positive.
>> [laughter] >> But um but I told him I said, you know, we want to get this straightened out so because we have a whole whole laundry list of things that we've talked about already in our videos, you know, about what we're going to do while we're here in Northwest Arkansas.
But I can't say enough good things about uh Mercy Hospital here in Rogers. They have been absolutely wonderful.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah.
>> They have been. I'm very pleased.
>> But anyway, this is what we know so far.
We'll know a whole lot more and we'll give you another update a little bit later. We're not going to dwell on this too long. As soon as we uh you know, things are wrapped up, we're going to move on to other more important things to talk about. But uh we just thought we'd let you know and and again, one more thing, I made a couple posts uh I did a uh YouTube post and a Facebook post and the outpouring has been absolutely uh fabulous. It's uh it uh makes me tear up a little bit. It really does. Anyway, that's it for now.
We'll talk to you again soon, let you know more about what's happening.
Right?
>> Right.
>> Y'all take care of the Spills and Deb.
Uh with I Ride Tiny House Adventures.
Huh, we're not camping.
>> [laughter] >> No, this is living.
>> Not right now anyway.
This is all part of life. Anyway, talk to you again soon. Bye.
>> Bye-bye.
