In track and field, a sprinter's true potential is validated not by their best time trials but by their ability to compete against established elite athletes at the highest level of competition; the 19.67 performance at Australian Championships demonstrated Gout Gout's exceptional speed, but his upcoming race against Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo and other proven sprinters at the Oslo Diamond League will determine whether he can translate that potential into consistent competitive success against the world's best.

The Gout Gout Situation Won’t Be Hype Anymore After Oslo… || Letsile Tebogo Is the REAL TestAdded:
The world is about to witness a gout gout sighting and this time it's going to happen at the diamond league in Oslo for the 200 meter dash. This is one of those moments where I felt that I had to say something because we've been waiting to see gout gout with you know the best of the best and now we're finally going to get a race like it because it's him versus Tobo. I get it. The Oslo Diamond League is going to have a whole bunch of talented athletes whether it's the 400 hurdles. I believe Alison Doandle will be out there as well as some others. I mean, the women hundred, we get a time trial from Julian Alfred. No disrespect to everybody else in the field, but it's basically the same field that Melissa Jefferson wouldn't already stomped on.
Again, no shade, just being honest.
Like, competitively speaking, she ran away from them. Now, expect Julian to do the same in this specific race. But this is what it's about. Gout Gout versus Lee Rachel to be there. You could play spoiler. Don't think he's going to beat Le to bo, but he definitely could beat Galgout. So, let's have this conversation. I mean, the real one anyway, because Galgout has been a phenomenon. He had the 196 over in Australia. So, let's put it all in perspective. When it comes to the Pro Circuit, we've been waiting for Gout Gout to run. I'm an American. I don't know how to not be because that's just the culture I come from. So, you have to understand that where you are in the world is going to inform how you see this. In the American system, when you say you're going to be a pro, we expect you to compete against pros. That's what happens here. We have a high school system, a college system, very elaborate. And at those levels we have, you know, we rank recruits. I do that in the track and field space. And we have the kids who are, you know, high level who run 20 point 20 point low in a 200 meter dash, for example. Gout could run with his peers. He could do that. He could even run in the NCAA system.
Again, you could argue very clearly those are his peers. There are men there who can run 19 point high in the 200 meter dash. We've had national champions go 197 or even 196 depending on wins so on and so forth. He put down the 19.67 at the Australian championships and I think that was the moment where he went from Phenom who had given us some fast time trials to okay you have to take him seriously if he a real threat. He was at the world last year. He made the semi-finals. I mean yes that happened but no disrespect making the semi-finals is nowhere near as impressive as people want to pretend it is in this sport.
There are a lot of athletes who don't get to go. America can't send all of their fast men. You only get three entries per event unless you have a wild card athlete who is already the world champion. So when it comes to the field, like I'm gonna give names. Rainineer Mayna is supposed to be in this race.
And if you know who he is, Rainineer Mayna specifically, he's been out here on the circuit for a while. He actually raced against um Galgout last year in a 200 I think it was a continental tour type meeting and it was close like down to the line, but Galgout had to run him down. So that gives me perspective.
Yeah, he might be faster now. You can talk about the cloths, everything else.
The Rainer Mayor has broken 20. He's run 19 high to 19 mid like 67 or whatever.
I'm going off of off head here. So, the point being there's a field that Gout Gout actually has to go out there with.
And then there's the the Let situation.
If it's gout versus if we just want to focus on that, I'm going to tell you what I think Let's going to be in this race when it comes to talent and performance. I remember Pre Fontaine last year. I believe that was June cuz I know it was circle around the time when Grand Slam tracks June meeting was supposed to go down and it never happened. But Clay ran a world lead. I think it was like 197 at that time. Like what was a world lead? Like forget about world leads for a moment. Like if that's what you care about that's not the discussion. I kind of feel like he's getting to that point in the form for LE as far as like going forward in the year. I've said it before, I'll say it again. I don't believe let's bo actually cares that much about every single race on the circuit, but I do believe that he cares. You sure enough don't want to lose to Gala. That I believe. And then if you talk about this specific race like where we are in the calendar, it feels like sub20 loading for him. 199 198 197 all of that sounds within the realm of possibility. And we've seen Kenny Bener go 1969 as well in a diamond league meeting. Then he followed up with like a 198.
If Ga Gala can break 20, that alone is what I'm looking for from a performance standpoint to validate the 196. I don't need him to go 1971 198. I don't need that. For me personally, like if you care what I have to say about it, I want to see sub20. But then I also want to see what that sub20 looks like compared to the field. If a Cel goes 197 and he goes 1981 1999, okay, we're in business.
But if you're new here, I want to say thank you for even making it this far into the video. And I'm Coach Rob. And if you really want to know what's going on with the fastest athletes in the world, then you are in the right place.
And if anything that I say actually connects with you, it is always greatly appreciated if you would please like and subscribe. But if I don't, just let me know in the comment section because I try to read them all. If Leila goes 197, 198, and Galgout goes 20.1, 20.2, I'm like, "All right, that's about who he is. He is exactly who I still thought he was. I mean, yeah, there's training cycles and things like that. I know that Gala's getting ready for the World U20s and there's at least a month between now and then. I have to check the calendar to see exactly where it falls. But for that field, like let's just talk about who that's going to be cuz this is not that. This is him going against an Olympic champion in the 200 and a guy who's, you know, been right there competing for medals in the 200 for the last three years. If you go back to 2023 for the world 20s, Tate Taylor's going to be there. We just saw him go 199 down in Texas, you know, at the Lonear Grand Prix. Jay go Jordan's also going to be there. He's also a guy who's flirted with breaking 20 as far as I know. Can going entirely off head. I've seen him run indoor threes and all that stuff this year. And then Amir Thompson, I'm assuming, is going to be there who the Big 12 indoor champion in the 200. um he's been dealing with some injuries, but I fully expect by the time he gets to World Due 20s, he'll be ready to run, you know, like himself.
That's one, two, three men who they ain't scared of Gout. I can say that right now. Like his talent don't scared.
So when he says, "I'm a pro," quote unquote, and you go into races like this, we expect you to do pro things. I know they're trying to bring him along slowly, him and his team. We learned about the coach that he has and kind of, you know, the uniqueness of that circumstance. Hey, I support it. That's not the point from where I'm coming from. When you cross over, we evaluate you against that crowd like the group that is the next Gala ran too many time trials already. I think we have to let that go. Those days are done. The the years of or the moments where we saw him in the red and white kit or you know any the like the Queensland kit where he's just way out in front 20.04 beating his chest. Them days is done. If he want to beat his chest, he's going to have to beat the real men. Now, I'm not celebrating Gal G versus the kids. World 20 to him is supposed to be a checkbox, like just a line item. Go back there and win because Bianabada took it from him before. That's how I feel. He's supposed to win World 20s, although I know he could very well not. Tate Taylor is probably the easiest choice to take him down. And people talk about the times and the clocks and how you evaluate. I'm the guy who said, "Let's just focus on winning and losing." The field that Ga Gout beat at the Australian Championships, talented men, don't get me wrong, but just not a field that make me feel like they're the best sprinters in the world. I don't expect any of those men, Aiden Murphy, who ran close 199, 198 or whatever, I don't expect him to be in a world championship final anytime soon. He might he might do it.
And if so, I will get back on this camera personally and issue a formal apology. I'm just not expecting it at this time. Ya got was supposed to beat that field and the clocks make sense if you rolled them back based off of what people had run in the past. So you had all the wind spectacle. It's on the boards now. This is the time where we validated. We're past that. We're past speculation. We're past will it get ratified? We're past was the wind appropriate. This is what happened. He ran 196. He did it. It happened. Now what? I'm going to bring up one more name, Arian Knight. And I know he's serving a a suspension right now, but he had run 1949 in uh like an LSU meet, you know, some years ago. This is when he was about like I guess 19 years old or whatever it was. He never ran faster than that. It was went down went legal.
They registered that as that. He didn't go faster than that at any point in his career from then till now and we won't see him for a while. So we shouldn't be that married to the clock. He might go 196 195 and if so that's going to make for a crazy story and I'll be more than happy to talk about it. But for now, these are the expectations that I have.
I don't believe that Gout Gout is going to beat Le Cel. I think Jerem Richard is going to give him run for the money because we've seen this. If you don't know, Dream Richards, aside from everything he's done in the 400 to the 200 across his career this year indoors, Noah All goes to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix. He's clearly the headliner hyped up to go run the 300 and take a crack at a world record perhaps even.
And he loses to Dream Richards. This man knows how to play spoiler. I remember watching him go 198 at Grand Flam track.
Miami in the 200 was like 19.86. Him and Oando were battling out to the line and Alex Oando had been in world championship finals and Olympic finals for that matter for the better part of the past decade now like at least three four years going back. So these are real sprinters like real competitors. We need Olympic champion in the 200 I mean that's about as good as it gets. So what Gout Gout does here should give us a good example or kind of good framework for what the future of his career at least in this year is going to look like yeah every year things are going to change and I know they're trying to bring them along slowly but when you say I'm going to sign a pro contract from where I'm from and I get it other parts of the world are built differently different setups different structures for where I come from when you cross over we evaluate so I want to know what does he look like compared to those guys we saw him at the Worlds so we know he can run we know he'll he deserve to be in the field. But that's not the same thing as being able to go toe-to-toe with them. And I brought up past names.
I'll bring it up one more time. Just because you are fast and young doesn't mean that you're going to be that much faster when you get older. You can be in fourth place at the Olympics in 2021 and still be in fourth place at the Olympics in 2024. That's what happened every night. And again, let's not even worry about the ban suspension, tainted meat, or any of that. We're just focusing on the results. For that reason, we have to see what Gout Gout is actually going to do. Oslo in the Diamond League. Yes, there's other me other like other events going down, but it's pretty clear this is going to be the Gout Gout show. I mean, gout gout versus. And one way or another, this is going to be entertaining. The sport of track and field is not just about running fast.
It's about doing it over and over and over again. That is how you let everyone else know that fast is a lifestyle. Get fast the lifestyle track and field gear at the part of the training collection at coachrottrack.com or you the link in the description below.
