[00:01:29]Guys, Robert Frost was a famous American poet. Basically, he was from America. He liked writing about nature, village life, and the relationships between people. Like he used to write how people share relationships between each other.

[00:01:44]His poems are simple, guys. Whenever you read his poems or listen to his poems, you will feel like they are simple, but they always give an important message.

[00:01:53]They carry deep idea. He wanted people to observe nature. He wanted the people to think about life. If we talk about this particular poem Mending Wall, it is one of his best-known poems. This is a little about the poet. Now, let us talk about the poem. The poem here is Mending Wall. Guys, it is a narrative poem. You might have a doubt what is a narrative poem now. [00:03:10]Big gaps appear in the wall. Not only nature, but even hunters damage the wall. While chasing rabbits, they remove some stones and leave openings in the wall. So, when the speaker sees this happening every year, guys, he starts thinking. He starts feeling that maybe nature itself does not want the wall to remain. It keeps breaking the wall again and again. So, the poet the speaker thinks about this, seeing the wall gets damaged every year. After winter, spring arrives, guys, and every spring both neighbors meet to repair the wall. Wall is being damaged every year, right? And every spring they meet, and they try to repair the wall. Basically, they will repair the wall every year, every spring. This has become a yearly habit for them guys. This has become a tradition because every year, every spring they meet and they repair the wall. They walk slowly along the wall and wherever they see a gap, they pick up the fallen stones and they place them back. They work together for many hours guys, but there is one strange thing.

Then he says something in a funny way guys. He says that his apple trees are never going to cross the wall and his apple trees are never going to eat the neighbor's pine cones, okay? Apple trees are not going to cross the wall and eat the neighbor's pine cones. By saying this he means that there is no problem between them. Okay, the trees stay where they are. They are not disturbing anyone. So he asks himself if there is no problem then why do we need this wall? Agar koi problem hi nahi hai hum dono ke beech ya hamare trees ke beech to is wall ki kya zarurat hai? He asks himself.

[00:07:04]Guys, the speaker keeps thinking about the purpose of the wall. He asks himself, "What are we trying to keep inside? What are we trying to keep outside? There are no cows. There are no animals that need to be stopped. Nobody is fighting with each other." So he feels that building the wall every year is not really necessary. He believes that sometimes walls do not bring people closer, instead they create distance between them. And that is true guys, you all agree with it, right? So the neighbor does not agree with the speaker guys, the other neighbor. One neighbor is thinking that there is no need of wall, but the other neighbor does not agree with the speaker. Okay, or the other neighbor does not agree with the first neighbor.

[00:07:49]He simply repeats one sentence that he learned from his father, guys. He says, "Good fences make good neighbors." This was said by his father, it seems. He believes that when there is a clear boundary between two people, there will be fewer arguments and bitter relationships. He never questions this idea, guys, because he has believed it since childhood. Chote Rajan Sebi, this was the thing he used to believe.

He believes people should think before following the old customs, but the other neighbor, he believes that old traditions should continue without changing them.
