This video demonstrates advanced Sudoku solving techniques including identifying triples (three cells containing three specific numbers that block those numbers elsewhere), doubles (two cells containing two specific numbers), and the process of elimination to place numbers in rows, columns, and boxes. The walkthrough shows how to systematically solve a hard NYT Sudoku puzzle by first identifying constrained cells through triples and doubles, then using blocking effects to eliminate possibilities, and finally placing remaining numbers through logical deduction.

New York Times Sudoku Hard Solution for May 24, 2026: WalkthroughAdded:
Hey, so this is New York Times Sudoku for May 24th, 2026.
This is my walk-through and you can play this Sudoku from the link in the description.
Okay, let's get it going.
First thing's first, uh there's a triple in box three. It's 1 2 9 triple because column eight has 1 2 9 which block these cells, so these would be 1 2 9.
And here's nine which blocks these cells.
So, that gives me nine here.
Um Okay, I'm going to mark this one later when it's needed.
I can place eight in box seven.
And that lets me place eight in box one.
And here's one, here's one.
They block these cells, gives me one here. [snorts] And um there's a double in box six.
It's 4 6 double.
Here's four and the six, here's four and the six. They block these cells.
So, these two cells will be used by four and six.
And uh Mhm.
1 2 3 5 >> Okay, I think I did it too early, but uh let's move on. I can place one in box five here. [snorts] And now uh I can use this 4 6 double.
So, here's five, which blocks these, and these will be used by four and the six.
And um oh, that means I can place five on Sorry. Uh I can use I can place five on row five.
This cell will be used by four or six.
Five here blocks this cell. This five blocks here, and this five blocks here.
So, this is the only cell I can place five on row five.
And um column one is missing three and five.
And here's five, so this will be three, and this will be five.
And now row eight is missing two, three, six, seven, nine. I will put all of them here.
This cell is blocked by two, seven, nine.
So, it's three or six, but here's 4 6 double.
So, this cell actually cannot be six.
That leaves three for this cell.
And um right, so um Okay, here's 5 6 7, so that me 567 triple.
Uh cleaning up this cell cannot be six.
Uh five blocks this cell.
And that means these will be 348.
And eight here blocks this cell.
Now, that means I can place three in box six. This three blocks these.
These will be used by five or seven.
Three in the three gives me three here.
And the Uh 1347 1348 Right. Uh Now, I can place eight in box six. This eight blocks here. Again, this will be five or seven. This eight blocks here gives me eight here.
Eight eight eight gives me eight here.
Uh these are 467.
Oop.
Yeah, row five is missing 467, and here's seven, which blocks this cell.
This seven blocks here.
So, seven will be here.
Now, these will be four and the six.
Four's already here, so this will be six, and this will be four.
And that gives me six here.
>> Uh these are 2 5 7 and 4 and the 9.
1 3 4 8 uh Mhm.
Oh, okay. Uh here's uh box 4 is missing 4 and the 9. Here's 4.
So, this would be 9 and this would be 4.
And uh Ooh.
Um 1 2 3 9 Um mhm mhm mhm Okay, I can place 7 in box 1 now.
And that 1 3 4. Right. Uh this 4 blocks these gives me 4 here.
That gives me 3 here.
Uh 1 3 2 9 1 3 6 uh Column 2 is missing 1 3 6 and this cell is blocked by 1 and a 3.
So, that gives me 6 here.
And that gives me 7 5 6.
Uh 1 5 9 5 here blocks these gives me 5 here.
[snorts] And now column nine is missing one and the two. One here gives me two and the one and the two.
The last number of this box is seven.
And this cell is also seven.
And the seven seven seven seven gives me seven here.
Um this one block these gives me one and this would be three.
Three three three gives me three here. [snorts] Uh these are one to nine.
One and the one block these two gives me one here.
Eight.
Eight. Gives me eight.
Four eight.
And this would be six.
This would be four.
Six and the six and the six gives me six here.
Uh two nine one nine.
Two nine.
Two five nine.
Okay, uh five five five gives me five here.
Five and the five gives me five here.
And these would be two and the nine.
Two here gives me nine and the two.
And the nine two nine.
The last number of this column is two and this would be nine. This would be two.
These are three and a four.
Four here gives me three and there four and there one three one Oh, I'm sorry. Nine and one.
