This transition risks de-skilling the profession by capturing the value of driving for AI while leaving humans with the physical labor. It prioritizes corporate efficiency at the direct expense of driver agency and long-term job security.

Breaking News! Mclane Truck Drivers Will Not Have To Drive The Semi Truck In The FutureAdded:
All right, let's give you this breaking news report today. This is a press release. You know, you guys could go on Aurora and this is actually what they sent out to Wall Street. So, they're really serious about this. It says Aurora and MLAN company partner to bring autonomous trucks to US restaurant supply chain. So, they're making a big deal out of this. And basically, they're doing this with MLAN. MLAN is a super big private fleet, over 3,600 truck drivers at that. And the part that they are bragging about is they're saying, "Hey, let the truck run the miles, right? And then the truck driver can do all the heavy lifting, the backbreaking work that you have to do when you're working these food jobs. I mean, these jobs are not easy jobs." And so, let's get into today's video. McLean drivers, tell me, what are your thoughts about this? You know, one thing I just want to make a disclaimer about, uh, they're not saying in here that they're going to kick out all the truck drivers for MLAN, but right now they have somebody called a human observer, which they're in the passenger seat, and they're just there for the liabilities if something goes wrong. If you're getting paid the same exact money for not actually having to drive the truck, does this get you excited or do you think that this definitely is taking away some of your pay? Because when it comes to MLAN, there's still a lot of backbreaking work to do. And they're saying in this news release, they still want you to do the backbreaking work. They just want to take away the driving part.
What's going on, mother truckers? Uh, I wonder this is a question for MLAN drivers out here. Now, they didn't put out a specific number of how many trucks they're adopting or anything like that from Aurora, but just like the title is reading, MLAN, they they have a big announcement and Aurora is just making one after another, right? They they stated that Hersbach is uh ordering over 500 of these trucks and the CEO there stated that look this is for all the routes that uh their otr drivers don't want to drive now and so they're saying that this is a good thing and now MLAN drivers right this is what comes out so for years you know we've been told that autonomous robot trucks are a decade way. We were told that they couldn't handle the weather. They couldn't handle the traffic and replace the American truck driver.
Well, it seems like something is shifting because a lot of these carriers are adopting early. And I'm sad to say, but all this is happening in Texas, you know, and that that's where I live now.
And so I'm going to try and get uh some uh footage and capture some trucks and maybe interview some of these drivers for you and and I'll ask them what they really think about the whole thing. The first thing that comes to mind is if the truck is going to do most of the driving and these MLAN drivers are going to do most of the work at the end of the day, is MLAN going to pay less money or the same money? And if you're getting paid the same money, but you don't have to do the driving yourself, you know, are you going to be happy about that? Yes or no? You know, comment down below on that. So, Aurora Innovation and MLAN company just announced they have officially moved from supervised test runs to fully commercial driverless halls on Texas highways. Now, this is actually a official corporate press release they sent to Wall Street. So, they're spinning this story as a massive win for human drivers. But when you look past the PR and you read the fine print, pretty much I I I feel like this is just their way of of talking nice. And then when they get this to work, I wonder how the drivers that work for their company, these 3600 uh MLAN drivers feel about the situation. And I know MLAN is a lot of physical work. And so because of your very specific situation, I wonder if you're going to be happier if the truck is driving itself. And I'm sure this is honest truth. If you are making the same amount of money or more, would you care if the truck is driving itself? So like I stated, MLAN employs roughly 3,600 truck drivers. So, I'm just curious and wondering about the the likelihood that this will hurt the driver's pay. Right now, as we speak, Aurora self-driving trucks are running continuous round trips between Dallas and Houston, moving refrigerated food 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And because the robot doesn't have hours of service restrictions, and doesn't need to sleep at a rest stop, MLAN only needs a tiny fraction of the trucks to move the exact same amount of freight. and they aren't stopping in Texas. By 2026, Aurora is planning to expand these routes across the entire US Sunb Belt. So, let's think about that real quick, right?
Drivers have to stop because of hours of service and that's why they need more drivers. But if these trucks don't have to comply by these rules, they can actually run with less trucks. So, I'm I'm really curious what you guys think about this.
So, if you guys actually read this press release, right, they're spinning this as this helpful benefit to help the truck driver. You know, it it states here, MLAN is pitching what they call a hybrid model. They say that Aurora robots will handle the long haul, middle mile on the highway so the human driver can focus on the critical last mile and serve as the face of the company to the customers.
That's what they're saying. So, let me translate this in plain English for you.
They are taking away the easy consistent highway miles and forcing humid drivers to do nothing but the backbreaking physical labor of local delivery. And so hearing this, I'm sure these drivers, they deserve the pay. You know, this is backbreaking work. This isn't like normal trucking. So the big bone that I have to pick with Aurora is that Aurora is still paying a human being to be in the truck, right? They call it a human observer. So basically, this driver is sitting in the passenger seat and they're not driving the truck, but they're there just in case something goes wrong. So, they're double paying for this situation until the states allowed them to take the human out of the truck. And so, the the writing has been on the wall for years now. And we've made these statements and nobody's listening. And drivers have stated themselves that you are literally training a robot to take your job. So, mud truckers, I'm just giving this information and I'm putting it out there. Let me know how you feel about this because, you know, this this isn't the route that is safe and it definitely isn't the route that's going to help these truck drivers keep a job, right?
And so overall, my truckers, tell me what you guys think. But yeah, this news, I don't I don't like it.
