In Islamic theology, human souls existed in the 'World of Souls' (Aalam al-Arwah) before physical creation, witnessing significant divine events like Allah's covenant with Adam's offspring and the angels' command to bow to Adam. The Quranic phrase 'remember when' (wa idh) indicates that human souls were present witnesses to these events. Humans possess a unique spiritual essence called 'ruh' (soul) from the 'alam al-amr' (realm of divine command), which distinguishes them from angels (created from light) and jinn (created from smokeless fire). This spiritual component, which Shaytan and angels could not comprehend, ultimately proved superior to their physical forms, explaining why humans were chosen as Earth's Khalifa despite initial angelic concerns about potential unrest and bloodshed.

Were You There When Angels Bowed to Adam? Secrets of SoulAdded:
Do you remember what happened in the world of souls?
We have been talking about the world of souls. As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. My name is Sayed Saad and we talked about Surah Al-A'raf ayah number 172, in which Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala said, "Remember when Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala took oath from the offsprings of Adam alayhis salam." And we also learned that Adam alayhis salam was brought forth and his offsprings were unfolded from him generation after generation. And Adam alayhis salam saw his next generation. However, the ayah starts with wa idh akhadha and remember when Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala took an oath. That means we were there, we witnessed it. That is why Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala is saying, "Remember." Now, let me bring to your attention another ayah from the Holy Quran, which I believe you might not have looked at it from this angle before. So, does that mean were we also present when Adam alayhis salam was brought in front of the angels and Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala told angels that this being will be the Khalifa of the planet Earth?
Now, remember, I will bring you to that same word in just a minute, but Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala introduced Adam alayhis salam to the angels inni ja'ilun fil ardhi khalifa. But look at the very first word of this ayah, wa idh qala. Remember when Allah said? That means we were also present at that moment when this conversation took place in the world of souls.
For us, we were in the world of souls, but Adam alayhis salam had been created as the first human being with flesh and bones. He was a body form human and the rest of us were not in the body form yet, but Allah says wa idh qala rabbuka, remember when Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala your Your rabb, so means we are the addressees. Remember when your rabb said to the angels that I am about to send someone as a Khalifa of the Earth or ard. And then right away, their response was qalu ataj'alu fiha, you want to send somebody over there who will have these properties may yufsidu fiha, who will cause unrest wa yasfiku dima' and will cause bloodshed?
Now, this itself needs a lot of explanation. How did the angels come to know about the nature of this being?
Because the being is just getting introduced. Well, one thing that they saw that this being will have offsprings after offsprings after offsprings. So, this being is created fold after fold after fold to rule and continue to rule and when things continue to rule as they grow in number, it is quite evident that they fight with each other for gaining control because when somebody's being sent on the planet Earth as a caretaker is being given nafs desires and they had seen jinn before who when sent as Khalifa of the planet Earth, they were causing unrest for which angels have to go and take care of. But is that's all?
Maybe not. Because the word yasfiku dima' and will cause bloodshed may refers to that there might have been other beings that were sent on planet Earth much like human beings, but not human beings that have dwelled on this planet Earth that angels knew about. So, when they saw Adam alayhis salam going in as a Khalifa, what is Khalifa?
Khalifa what means the one who comes after is the Khalifa. That's why when you're standing behind the Imam, you are saying what? Khalf. I'm behinding the Imam. So, when a person comes in charge, he becomes a Khalifa. So, Abu Bakr al-Siddiq is the Khalifa of Rasulullah.
Omar is the Khalifa of the Khalifa of Rasulullah and Uthman is the Khalifa of the Khalifa of Rasulullah. So, this is how. So, that's why Sayyidna Omar radiyallahu anhu in his time changed the title instead of Khalifa to Rasulillahi, he changed it to Amirul Mu'minin on the advice of Sayyidna Ali radiyallahu ta'ala anhu. So, now here comes the question that okay, how did they come to know about it? It's quite possible there had been other beings on the face of Earth before we Homo sapiens sapiens started residing here. There might have been other species like Neanderthals or other beings which were somewhat like humans, but were not 100% human. And they were the caretaker of the planet Earth for the time frame that they were taking care of the planet Earth. So, angels had first-hand experience that what these species can do when they come in bigger numbers and Shaytan is is is is not yet out there, but they have desires. They have desires, they have emotions. Even despite the Shaytan has not yet gained the status of Iblis, he's still among those jinn who is pious, but he's a jinn.
Al-Quran says as Quran says wa kana minal jinn, he was from the jinn, he was never from the angels. He used to hang out in higher places because he was spiritually elevated at this point in time, but despite fact the other beings that were sent before human beings had different kind of tests and they might have failed those tests. As a result, over the period of time, they were either wiped out in the punishment or they disappeared from the face of Earth.
So, that is why it was quite natural for the angels to react in this fashion and say that this would cause unrest and would cause bloodshed.
And then we on the other hand wa nahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wa nuqaddisu lak and we have been created that we never go against your will, we are always praising you ya Allah ya rabbal alameen and we are always in the state of purity, we do not sin. And Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala's response was inni a'lamu ma la ta'lamun. I know what you do not know. You're only seeing the flesh and the bones.
But what I have created is special for this species is the ruh, the soul. Hal ata alal insani hinum minad dahri lam yakun shay'am madhkura. That the humans existed in a form that only Allah knew that they existed and no one else knew about their existence yet. And for how many millions and billions of years we existed in that state only Allah knows.
And when the conditions were ripe, Adam was introduced and then angels of course when they were involved in the creation of the body of Adam alayhis salam, they did not specifically knew that all of this process was getting done for who? They were ordered to bring something, they brought that something and not all angels knew about it. Only the angels who were given the task. That's why the rest of the angels were completely unaware of this new species getting the new species getting created, at least the body of this new species getting created. And Shaytan who had access to some places like in Jannah where the body was going through its initial stages did see Adam alayhis salam getting created and he witnessed the body and he had this at the back of his mind that Allah is creating another species, but he never thought of it as something that would replace him.
Because he visited Adam alayhis salam's body and he checked it based on his knowledge the body. Again, he was also looking only at the body level and he said, "This species is weak and could never defeat me. So, I as a jinn species will always maintain my status."
But when soul component was added to the human being, which is the essence of human, that's why Allah says that they ask you about the soul and tell them the soul is from the world of amr, alamul amr and the body is from the alamul khalq and the combination of the two made the human being. It is the level of soul, the spirituality lies here that the Shaytan could not understand.
Angels also did not understand, but when Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala showed the supremacy of the human being, angels right away said, "Oh Allah, we did not know. We didn't know more than what we you have you have taught us. So, we all bow down in submission." But Shaytan, despite the fact he was there, saw everything, yet denied. Now, hold on a second, don't go away. There is another ayah in Surah Al-Baqarah. I gave you ayah number 30 and then I want you to look at ayah number 34. In which again the ayah starts like this, wa idh qulna lil mala'ikatisjudu li Adam. Remember when Allah says when we ordered all the angels, kulluhum ajma'un, all the angels to bow down to Adam, they all bow down to Adam illa Iblis, except for Iblis.
And in another place in the Quran, Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala defines Iblis just so that nobody gets confused that when angels have been mentioned, Iblis automatically qualifies as an angel.
Allah says wa kana minal jinni, he was from the jinn. Fa fasaqa, so he did not went in denial. And also in this ayah abaa wastakbara, he refused and he was showing arrogance wa kana minal kafirin and he became a disbeliever.
So, it became quite evident from the combination of these ayahs that Shaytan was hanging out with angels. That is why when angels were addressed, he was automatically addressed, yet he was singled out to clear the position of the angels that you he angels cannot sin.
They have been created as we know as we know from the hadith that comes in Sahih Muslim that they have been created from nur and the jinns on the other hand can have been created from nar samum, a smokeless fire.
So, it is quite evident that their materials are different, so they're a different species, they're a different beings. So, exactly the same way if Adam Alayhis Salam, when Adam Alayhis Salam was in Jannah, he was hanging out with angels, he hanging out with angels doesn't make him an angel.
He's still a human and he was stayed a human and he was called Bashar, a being that was quite evidently be seen. And Jinn is a species that is hidden from the naked eye. So, the the things are quite evident. And also, humans existed in different forms even in before the world of souls, human existed in the world of Noor.
As the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam told about his creation as a Noor.
And we have talked about in great detail on this channel about the creation of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam and the Noor. And that particular Hadith with the Jibrail Alayhis Salam mentions about seeing a Noor as a rising star.
And he saw that star after thousands of years. And he saw that star it's over 70,000 times. Means 70 is used in Arabic for abundance. So, for billions of years Jibrail Alayhis Salam after his creation saw this special Noor rising. And then Jibrail Alayhis Salam saw it so many times. And Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, "Jibrail, you saw that, but do you know what that Noor was?"
And then Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam educated Jibrail Alayhis Salam on the Noor. So, this was a special knowledge given to Prophet Muhammad from Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala. So, he's now even teaching Jibrail Alayhis Salam. He said to Jibrail, "That Noor was my Noor.
It was me." Allahu Akbar. I existed even before you were created. And then there's an entire Hadith that I talked about the creation of the Noor of the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Alihi Wasallam. And you can watch that video.
It's available in great detail on my YouTube channel as well as on my TikTok page, but it'll be easier for you to find it on the YouTube. So, here the word Wa Idh again comes referring to the fact that we witnessed these things.
That's why Allah is directly talking and saying, "And remember." Otherwise, what's the point of saying, "And remember?" That means in one form or another, we witnessed it. Either we witnessed it as from the world of souls, like it was a live telecast happening in the world of souls that they were that everybody in the world of souls were witnessing this. Or it might have been the case when all of us were unfolded generation after generation before being returned back, we were given this opportunity to witness this and then we were unfolded back. Or it's quite possible that we witnessed it from within Adam Alayhis Salam. Whatever is the case, it's a very important point to look at. Till next time, Assalamualaikum.
