And for metal, especially with this guitar, D standard drop D all the way down to even with the right strings, it feels really good all the way down to B.

[00:25:57]A little bit of a sharp if the strings are big enough big enough. But it just resonates really good. this guitar specifically in drop C and and any type of D. It feel it feels really really good to play.

It was definitely pre Silver Sky I think the first time that we linked up cuz I remember when John launched the Silver Sky, he gave me a um prototype model and we were definitely in touch by then. The model that I have that looks like this that isn't a I guess showcase the type of music I grew up playing.

So, you have your average regular degular uh uh Ibanz Tube Screamer um effects. Man, the cat's got hair on this thing.

[00:51:21]It's been like two weeks since I've even touched this one. Anyway, so you have the volume, gain, and tone on the three, but down here, as you can see, there are different switches.

[00:51:34]There is the the TS9, the regular Ibanz TS9.

[00:51:40]Then there is the TS9 Plus, which they're all mods. So, they're all like what people usually do to mod these.

[00:51:49]They came out with the pedal with the mods built in. pedal's pretty heavy actually. And then they have so they have the TS9, they have the TS9 plus, they they have the hot, and they have the TS9 turbo. So, you can really get some cool tones when you're going from clean to this. It really beefs it up. And I will say this for the price of this versus the the other one. Let me double check because that's how it used to be with this. So [snorts] this is the uh Ibanz uh the TS9 DX DX [snorts] Turbo.

[00:52:38]Here it is. [snorts] Now, let's look up the price of an Ibanz TS 100 bucks.

[00:53:05]12 if you get it with a with a cable and everything.

[00:53:10]So, for 30 bucks, you're getting four different variations of the pedal. And what I what I mean by that is quite literally you're getting the TS9, you're getting the TS9 plus, the hot, and the turbo. So, there's four different modes, and they do get hotter.

[00:53:30]They sort of like a thicker sound. Some of them are a little bit more fuzzy. So, you know, you throw the the the neck switch up, turn it on turbo, gain up a little bit, volume cranked. You'll get you should be able to get a really cool like blues lead tone. There's all types of stuff you can do with it. I personally have used it mainly for metal and uh whenever I'm doing like pop punk stuff, I'll use a clean tone on the amp.

[00:53:59]But, oh, look. There's actually uh you can find it for 89 bucks on the Sweetwater Gear Exchange, which is pretty cool. You can get it for less than just the regular TS9.

[00:54:45]I love how the first three things aren't even overdrive pedals. I think this is this is a distortion pedal. This I know the wrap pedal is literally like a fuzz pedal kind of.

[00:55:03][snorts] Oh yeah, that's right. So there is a bit of a difference between the sound you get with this um the uh turbo tube screamer and the 808. The 808 was the OG I believe, right?

[00:55:31]No, I So, so you mean like the name brand Tube Screamer as in the Ibanz Tube Screamer? Tur Tube Screamer has sort of because they're so old, they're kind of like the OG [clears throat] of that specific thing.

[00:55:46]um you know, you had the rat pedal in the 80s and stuff before that, but so when it's sort of a blanket term for boosting your amp, especially for metal heads, it's a blanket term for cutting the lows out and getting those mids to sharpen so you get a tighter, a little bit more aggressive tone.

[00:56:08]Um, but if you're if you're going for the blues thing, there's a lot. But if you want something transparent, let me see if I can find No way. It's right here. The Morning Glory is literally right here.

[00:56:21]This is a great pedal.

[00:56:24]This is a great pedal, dude. It is such a good pedal. So, the Morning Glory is actually a or no wait, I believe it's the the double barrel. Hold on. JHS uh pedals. Ah, it's been a long It's been years actually. So, I think that uh Oh, yeah. This is another option. This is This is a really cool one. I'll get back to that one second.

[00:56:55]So, this is literally uh uh John, I believe it's John is his name that owns JHS. Um, this is his variation of every popular tube screamer out there.

[00:57:13]This is his variation of it. You have his variation. You have whatever that is, a TS7, XR, TS10, uh, MSL, and he is a big, um, sort of clean overdriven guy, so it might work good for you as well. You got the 808, the TS9, the uh OD1, which is a great I love that pedal. That's a great overdrive pedal. [snorts] But this is expensive. Yeah, it's 250 bucks because it looks like just one regular pedal, but dude, you are literally getting like so much compacted into that one pedal. You're getting so much compact. I've heard very mixed reviews, but that's because I'm a metal guy and everybody I know uses it for metal and then sells it. For you though, for everything everybody else, they seem to love it.

[00:58:14]Just a great pedal company, honestly.

[00:58:16]So, yes, the Morning Glory. And then there's the other one. What is that called? I think it's discontinued.

[00:59:54]So that K right there is like the clan, which is like the pinnacle of a blues pedal. It's like the sound that every blues guy wants because the pedals are like ridiculously expensive.

It keeps that cleanness to get that uh sort of twanginess to it, which is why I didn't like it. Um, but was great outside of metal.

[01:02:49]That's what it's for. And has a three-way rotary switch where it seems a little expensive for what it is, but they might it might be because they're a smaller company.

Cool. got a song and then I don't play them again. I just write so much music that I I end up forgetting everything that I write and it is one of my biggest downfalls. I write so much music no one ever gets to hear it and it it is sad which is the whole reason I started live streaming because I wanted to give advice on songwriting, meet new people and um you know just force myself to kind of have to do the stuff on the spot and you know try and remember stuff. So yeah, but this this will be a song that's released. Anyways, the reason that it isn't complete right now already is because um I've been I want him to come over here and us complete like figure out exactly how we want to uh align everything before I commit 100% to the way that the song is uh structured. So structuring is what we have to do together. With that said, um I'm going to do something that I haven't done in a long time. I'm going to literally just take one of these things here.

And that's typically whenever I'm playing, I get in moods sometimes, but um yeah, the John Patrrui and the um uh these Jazz 3es are my my favorites for sure.

The band is called Liquid Mike and they're this like almost early 2000s throwback rock with like a mix of like garage and some other stuff. Pretty unique. Um they're called liquid mic like m i k like the name mic. Um, ooh, I forgot as far as as far as metal, um, I keep going back to old stuff and, uh, some slightly newer stuff. I've been listening to Decapitated, which is like some, uh, Tech Death stuff.

[01:30:03]Dear Landlord, classic [ __ ] punk stuff. I I not not classic, but a lot of people actually don't know about him. I love Dear Landlord. I think that that album that they put out is absolutely fantastic. Is one of my favorites of all time. The Voodoo Bandits, another great sort of alternative garage. They're from Australia. Great band. That's the Voodoo Bandits.

[01:30:34]And what else do I got? Like I said, I just been putting on re like the past week just putting on 90 skate punk stuff.

Uh, but when I started listening to this album, um, like a month or so ago, they were at like 2K monthly listeners and they're up to 10 now, which is pretty good. I mean, especially when you're playing punk and stuff like pop punk, punk, fat record style stuff, like that's that's not bad.

[01:35:24]I'm really in the mood to write a skate punk song, like a technical skate punk song that has the really like uh fast one stringy uh lead riffs.

Like anytime I notice they're dull and I'm going to be recording something, change them, clean the guitar, all that stuff.

[01:59:03]Um let me ask you guys a question because I used to do them and two of those videos are some of my biggest videos, but I want to ask you guys personally because you know you guys are the ones watching the channel. So if and this goes for anyone on Tik Tok um anywhere else um um sorry I got a text. So I like reviewing what we did earlier going on Sweetwater looking at new stuff that's coming out and then um doing a visual review of it and giving out the specs and stuff like that. I think that they can be interesting. Um, but I try and do them in a way that doesn't feel like it's an ad. I try and do it in a way that's more like, hey, this is coming out. This is what I think about it, and here are the specs. Um, that type of thing, or would you guys prefer to see um me do another riff thing first?

[02:00:09]Because I'm going to do both, but I want to know what you guys would rather see first. Would you guys rather see something more informative or would you guys rather see me post something more riff related? Also, I have been considering for a while now and I think I'm finally getting to the point where I'm ready to do it, but I'm think I'm getting ready to start doing long form content again.

[02:00:34]And when I do that, it's going to be based on uh probably reviewing stuff. I think my first video back, my buddy Mike, uh, I did a video on the channel with him before. Um, he did the Sun Model T clone and the Sono clone. He makes amps. He built that amp for me right there. It's a JCM800 modded.

[02:00:58]And I'm just curious, uh, would you guys be interested in that type of stuff as well? because um you know I feel like short form content dominates so much that you almost need to have your numbers up to be able to get products to showcase on the channel before that. So I'm very particular about what long form I put out because it is very time consuming. Um yeah anyways let me know you like gear reviews. I love gear reviews too. The the only thing is I tried hooking up with one of the local shops uh that I that are in my town. I'm I'm friends with uh the guy that works that owns the building and they just opened up another one in Virginia. But I tried to ask him like, "Hey, I have this YouTube channel and you know, it's going to be slow getting off the ground because I don't have the money or the influence to just be able to reach out, get products, bring them to the channel.

[02:02:09]But that's originally what I wanted to do with long form content on the channel is gear review stuff. So now I'm at the point where I kind of uh Anyways, long story short, he said that he said yes, but you got to do it here at the shop.

[02:02:25]So I was kind of, you know, like, eh, [ __ ] that, whatever. I figured maybe there's like a like a contract we could sign together and like, you know, I'm going to take this thing out and I'll return it within this time, whatever, or else I have to pay money, blah, blah, blah. But it never worked out. So, it did kind of disappoint me. I'm not going to lie.

[02:02:47]Anyways, um yeah, so I think what I'll do is um I'll record both today. How about that?

[02:03:13]>> [music] [music] >> very sloppy, but I'm not going to lie, that is very very hard to play. Like super clean. I don't know why, but that is like truth be heard. You should do it. Think I here's the last thing I'll say before I get off. Sweetwater has an affiliate program with YouTube. They start to let you in at 5,000 subscribers. Hence the reason I'm doing the pedal giveaway at 5,000 subscribers because 5,000 will be the milestone. The problem is is that I got really discouraged after about a year and a few months of busting my ass and not reaching the numbers. And then I realized the thing that I need to do to get the numbers on my channel for musicians is to do these live streams, but do them covering songs. And a part of me, it's it's honestly my stubbornness and my pride that doesn't want to do the thing that I don't want to do, which is doing covers. Like, I don't want to have to do that. But I know a lot of young guys that have started their channel way after me would go live four or five days a week doing covers of songs and now they're at 10 to 15,000 subscribers within six months. So as much as I would love to um just be able to do the gear stuff, it is very very hard. It's very competitive as well and they all have people that help boost their channel. So, it's very very difficult.

[02:05:26]Uh along with that is I have been considering for a long time obviously haven't pulled the trigger on gathering some songs up, playing them live, and then just end the live. So, I'll have like 10 to 15 songs, play through them like three times, like a set, play through um all the songs like three times, and then I'll just end the live.

[02:05:52]Hopefully get lots of viewership and lots of people um watching. I'll go from 80s, 90s, and then 2000s. [snorts] So, maybe after I do my shorts, maybe I'll work on that. I don't know. Should I start doing that? What do you guys think? Should I do that just to get the numbers up so that way I can then boost the channel? Should I make that sacrifice?

[02:06:20]Learn learn a bunch of covers and just play them and do it.

[02:06:31]Don't really cover death metal or death core. See, I'm not even worried about the type of music I cover because I I to a point I am obviously. Um, but I feel like when it comes to covering songs, I don't know why I never cover metal stuff. I love doing like the catchy punk stuff. I I love learning that stuff and all the simple solos and just having fun with it, rocking out, singing along with it.

[02:07:04]So, I was thinking about that and I did start at one point. I did like I genuinely did start. I started learning I learned I think six, no, it was five.

[02:07:15]I learned five some 41 songs and then I was going to go back and learn some other stuff. But I was going to learn stuff that people knew so that way they could watch it. And I'll tell you this right now, as stupid as it is, I know one band, and I'm sure you guys can guess which band it is, but there is one metal band that has been around forever and everyone looks at as the pinnacle of metal and um or the standard, I should say. And if I did those covers, I could definitely gain a following. So maybe that's something I should do. And I I feel like if I did Metallica, it would gain a lot of followers.

[02:08:01]Honestly, their songs are so long, though. Oh my god.

[02:08:09]Songs are so damn long. I got to admit it. They're so damn long.

[02:08:16]I would say do some Pantara ones, but then then people want me to do the damn guitar solo with it.

[02:08:27]I don't know. This is This is where I get stuck. I'm like, "Okay, fine. I'll do it." And then I realize I'm like, "Man, do I really want to put in that much time and effort?" That's like basing my channel around something completely different now.

Uh that that's I think one of the big problems there, Pam. But it eventually it could be that I think that if I learned all of the popular stuff and just, you know, if I did a corn song, then I did a Lincoln Park song, then a Metallica song, then a Lint Biscuit song, you know what I mean?

[02:09:47]If I did like all of that stuff, I think that it would blow up. Maybe I should get everybody in the Discord. Actually, maybe I'll do that. I'll get everybody in the Discord. I'll say, "Hey, I'm trying to come up with a playlist of songs to play on the channel, and uh I need you guys to come up with some good ones that would catch new viewers attention." I think that would actually be the best way.

[02:10:16]And always add your own music in between. Yeah, somebody told me to do that. Like literally, somebody's told me to do that before.

[02:10:29]Um, they're like, "Why don't you just use the music you've been writing?" And then I always reply with because I've always forget how to play it [laughter] because then I I'm just relearning that, so I might as well just learn songs that um people want to hear. You know what I mean?

So, Pam, I figured out how to um So, all I have to do is demonetize the live stream, which is fine because it doesn't matter about the viewership. I'd have to be getting hundreds or thousands even of viewers watching and then they would have to be watching ads. And then after the ads, I would make money a percentage from the people that watched the ads.

[02:11:25]So with that said, if I demonetize the m or demonetize the video, the um uh the music doesn't matter. Or it could be as simple as I just delete the live stream, but I we'll keep them. I'll just demonetize it because then I won't be making any money off of other people's stuff. So, that's how that works. I finally figured all that out. Yeah.
