[00:00:00]For the first time in Yashoda Hospital at Hi-Tech City Centre, we have performed a bilateral cochlear implantation in a 2-year-old kid. The child presented with profound hearing loss and presented to us with profound deafness. [music] The standard of care is bilateral cochlear implantation because it not only gives a good sound and clarity to the child, it also helps in making the sound clear in a noisy environment. So, what does this cochlear implant is? The cochlear implant [music] is an electronic device which is placed inside the cochlea. Cochlea is the inner sensory organ which process the sounds and and sends it through the nerves to the brain. So, in deaf child, this cochlea is affected and [music] the implant is placed inside the cochlea which replaces the cochlear function and directly stimulates the nerve and [music] eventually the brain. So, if you're doing considering for cochlear implantation, ensure that you're going for a bilateral cochlear implantation because that is the standard of care for any child who is born.
