[00:00:07]This is the Imperial City of Hue, Vietnam. In 1802, Emperor Gia Long established Hue as the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty, [music] the last Imperial Dynasty in Vietnamese history.

[00:00:18]For more than a century, the city served as the political, cultural, and spiritual heart of Vietnam.

[00:00:24]But in 1968, during the Vietnam War and amid foreign intervention America, Hue became a battlefield that brought destruction and suffering to its people.

[00:00:32]Many historic structures were damaged, and the scars [music] of war left memories that are still remembered today.

[00:00:37]But Hue was never lost. The Vietnamese people continued to preserve and restore this historic city as an important part of their national heritage.
