If you want the notes, let me know on my Instagram. You text me on my Instagram.
Message me on my Instagram. I will be giving you the notes for all the subjects important question and answers which are easy, simple. Okay? But note, payment is must. I repeat, payment is must. Okay, so keeping this aside, let us get started with basic computer skills subject explanation part two. Okay.
Okay, so let us start with input and output devices. We have already seen what is mean by input device and what is mean by output device. But here we are going to discuss in detail what is mean by input and what is mean by output, what are the examples for input devices and what are the different examples for output devices in detail.
Okay, so you can see here these devices allow users to enter data and commands into computer so it can process them.
Already in part one we have seen that a user gives the data or gives the command or gives the instructions by the help of input good devices. If there are no input devices, we cannot do anything.
Okay, if we give the input to the computer then only it will be processing it and it will be giving us the output. So if we don't have any input device, how we will be giving any data or instructions to the computer? There will be no use of computer then. So we will be using input devices in order to give the data and instructions. As I said you in the part one, the example of giving the numbers to the computer is input and asking the computer to perform the arithmetic or logical calculations like addition or multiplication, any calculation that will be considered at as instructions.
We gave input data 1 2 3 4 5 6 then we gave instructions like you just do the performance of addition on it. Then what will the computer will do after getting the input and after getting the instructions, it will start to process the data without any delay, without any interruption. Okay, automatic it will start the processing and it will store the data and it will give us the data or the result. Okay, then let us see the examples. The best input device or the first input device we can say it as keyboard, okay? The keyboard is used to give the instructions or commands to the computer, right? So, whatever you are seeing on the screen, these notes are prepared by me, right?
How I have prepared these notes? By the help of keyboard. By the help of keyboard only I have written all these lines, all these points, each and everything. So, in keyboard you will be having numbers, you will be having alphabetical keys, you will be having special keys, you will be having function keys, you will be having control keys. So, whatever you know about the keyboard, you can write here, okay?
Not only this much, whatever I have given you in the notes, not only this much. If you want to prolong, like keyboard is the first and most important input device to give the input to the computer. And we can see different styles of keyboards, different types of keyboards. In keyboards also we are having different styles. In few keyboards light will be coming, in few keyboards there will be no light.
And we will be having alphabetical keys in the keyboard, we will be having number keys, we will be having function keys. Like whatever the keys you will see on the keyboard, whatever you know, you can write in your own words. My you just need to understand the topic, okay?
So, now let us talk about mouse.
Mouse is also known as pointing device or it can be also called as pointer. See, you can see a cursor on the screen, okay? I'm making this video on a laptop, so you can see a cursor, right? So, I'm moving the cursor in the right, I'm moving the cursor in the left. How I'm moving this? By the help of mouse. I'm using the mouse to give the instructions to the computer that you move the cursor or the arrow here or there. I'm using a mouse to point point to something, right? I'm pointing keyboard here. That is why it is known as pointing device. I'm pointing mouse here. I'm pointing scanner here. I'm pointing microphone here. So, that is why you can say that mouse is a pointing device because it point this points. It points the icons. It drags the icons all that, okay? So, let you let's you move cursor on the screen as I said you click icons. See, example, if I'm clicking input device, I'm getting a red dot, right? If I go to the desktop site and if I click some icon, that icon will be opened. So, in the mouse we will be having left click, right click. We will be having a scroll wheel by the help of which we can scroll. Whatever you know, you can write, okay? Then we have scanner.
It will convert physical documents or the hard copies into the digital images, okay? See, this is the soft copy, right?
Whatever you are seeing is the soft copy. This is not the hard copy, but you can take a print of it. Then there will be hard copy, yes or no? This is the digital form, whatever you're seeing on the screen. If you want a hard copy, you can take a printout. Like that scanner is used to make hard copy into the soft copy, you can say, okay? Microphone.
Microphone is nothing but a input device, sorry, an input device which is used to give voice commands to the computer. I think you all know what is a microphone, so you can write. A webcam.
Webcam is nothing but camera. It captures videos, it captures images, and it can also be used to do the video calls, recording, all live streaming, all that, okay? So, these are the input devices. No need to go here and there.
Whatever you know about these things, these are the basic things, okay? I think you all are aware of this, okay?
If you use a mobile phone, then also you will be knowing all these things. In the keyboard, keypad will be there in our mobile phone. Mouse is nothing but our finger will only work as a mouse, yes or no? And scanner. Scanner, you can write in your own words. Microphone, we will be using microphone. Like we will be saying, "Hey Google, hey Siri, Alexa." All that, right? We are giving our sound or our voice to the computer and we are asking the computer to perform a particular thing. Webcam, camera is the best best example here.
Then we have output device. Input device is to give the input to the computer.
Output device is to get the output from the computer. User gives the input by using input device. We will get the output by using output device. The best example or the first example is monitor.
The screen which you are seeing or the display which you see on personal computers or personal laptops, the screen is nothing but monitor.
It is the visual presentation, okay?
See, graphical user interface, I have said you in part one. When graphical user interface was introduced, if you have seen my part one video of basic computer skills subject explanation, you will be knowing when GUI was introduced.
In that video again and again I have said you that this is really very important. I have given you a brief explanation also on this GUI. So if you have listened to me carefully, you will be knowing the answer. So you say me now in the comment section. I will see how many people will comment in the comment section when GUI was introduced. When GUI was introduced, do you let me know in the comment section. I will see how many of you have listened to me carefully. Okay.
So here you can see it will display text. So now on the screen you are seeing a text, right? And if I see any if I show you any diagram, like wait, if I show you any diagram, like a flowchart. Or here if there is a picture, so that display showing you text, diagram, and picture, all the things, right? So, that is why it is known as visual display.
Okay.
So, we were at monitor, okay? It shows us the visuals, okay? Printer. We are having different types of printers. As I said you, it produces hard copies. As just now I have said you that it will change or it will convert the soft copies into the hard copies. It will give us the output in the form of a physical paper. Yes or no?
You will be going to the Xerox center, you will be saying that Xerox man or the person who is there in that shop to give the Xerox of other card. To give the Xerox of your SSC memo or your intermediate memo or income certificate, all that, right? So, you will be going to the Xerox shop and you will be saying that person to give the hard copy of something. That is nothing but the hard copy which is printed by the printer. Just assume if you are having a memo or if your results have been announced, what you will be going doing if you want a hard copy of the results? You will be going to the Xerox person and you will be saying that, "See, in this mobile I'm having my uh uh results. You please uh make this results into the hard copy and give me the Xerox." Yes or no? You will be saying like that, right? Just assume if you are having any document in your mobile phone, you will be WhatsApping that document to that person's mobile phone and you will be asking that person to give the hard copy. How that person is able to do or able to convert that soft copy into hard copy? By the help of printers. We are having types of printers, ma. Like first one is inkjet printer. In this, ink will be used, okay? Like it sprays tiny ink drops.
Uh there will be water spray, right?
How? When we press that water spray, uh water will be sprayed, right? In the same way, in the inkjet printer, ink will be sprayed. How the water will be sprayed? In the same way, ink will be sprayed in this inkjet printer to make the copies, okay? Best for color and photo printing, okay? Home use. Use will be home use, okay? In the home use, we will be using this inkjet printer.
Okay, then we are having laser printer.
It uses laser and toner. I think you all are made of laser. Laser means red color light will be there, no? So, that laser will be used in this printer in order to make the copies, okay? It is fast and sharp documents will be produced. Office use for the offices. Dot matrix printer.
Prints using pins and ink ribbons, okay?
Pins will be there. Like pins will be there and ribbons will be there in this dot matrix printer and it is for multi-copy forms. It is used in banks, okay? Inkjet color, laser speed, dot matrix is the old side printer.
Old style printer. Speakers, then we have speakers. I think you all know what is meant by speaker. Already we have seen what is meant by speaker. So, you have to write in your own words, okay?
It converts digital audio signals into sound waves. So, the users can hear the music, alerts, or speech, okay? So, mainly speakers are used to listen to the music, I guess. So, whatever you think, you can write in your answer booklet. Projector, ma. Projector, it enlarges the computer's display on to see when you have number of people, when you have large groups, and you want to do the presentation, or you want to show them something, like visuals or some video, you will be using the projector. If you go to your classrooms, nowadays we are having digital classrooms where the teacher will explain you through the projector, okay?
From the projector, we'll be getting the complete presentations or the videos.
From there, the teacher will be explaining you. So, there we will be using the projector. Projector produces the picture or produces the video, that is why it is known as output device. So, these were the input and output devices which we have discussed. Now, let us go with the memory.
In memory, we have two types. Already in part one, we have seen the brief description or brief explanation of this. In this, we are going to see the detailed explanation. Okay, we are having two types. One is volatile and the other one is non-volatile. It is RAM, random access, this is read only.
So, let us talk about both of these in detail. First, we are having primary memory. In primary memory only, we will be getting RAM and ROM. Read only memory.
Uh, this is read only, this is the random access memory. What are the differences? Already we have seen in the part one. Yes or no? So, we have seen that in RAM, all the data will get erased when the computer or when the devices turned off. Whenever you turn off your computer, all the data, whatever it is there in the computer, will get uh, lost or it will be erased. Okay, so you can't restore it. Okay.
So, in RAM, you have the faster your computer perform task. So, how much or how more RAM is there in the computer, that fast the computer will perform.
Okay, performance is based on the RAM.
If you are having less RAM, your computer or your device will be stucking. Okay, it will get hanged up.
But, if you have more RAM, that is why whenever you buy a new laptop or new computer, most of the people will suggesting you to take uh, 8 GB RAM, 16 GB RAM. Like that, they will be saying you that you take a In the mobile phones, 8 GB RAM is really much. Okay, 6 GB is enough. 8 GB means more. In this laptops and in all these also, you will be having different RAM. So, how more RAM is there, that good the performance of the computer will be there. Examples, you can open a game or a file, it loads into RAM. Okay. Read-only is nothing but non-volatile. Whenever a device or whenever the computer is turned off, all the data will not be get erased. Okay?
All the data will be there as it is.
Okay?
It contains permanent instructions.
Okay? And uh users cannot write or change data in ROM easily. Okay? If you want to change the data, if you want to write something in the data, it is not possible. It is really very different difficult. Then we have secondary memory. This is the storage memory.
Okay? Where we store the data. Okay?
Like our pictures, our videos, our all the files, apps, everything will be stored in secondary memory. Okay? Hard disk drive, HDD, is the first example, main storage device for storing the operating system files, apps. All your applications, all your files, all your operating systems will be saved in HDD.
Okay? It store huge amounts of data and is cheaper. Okay?
Then we have SSD, solid state drive. It is faster than HDD. Compared to HDD, SSD is good and it has no moving parts.
Okay? Used in modern computers, laptops.
Nowadays, whatever the computers and laptops you are using, that have SSD.
Okay? Before we used to have HDD, but nowadays we are having SSD. HDD have turned into SSD. There are slight differences. Okay? Then we have pen drive and USB drive. These are the secondary storage devices. If we want to store the photos, videos, or some files, we can use pen drive. These are the secondary storage datas. We will be connecting these to our computer and we will be transferring the photos and videos. Okay? Whatever you know about a pen drive or like memory card, you can also write memory card card as an example. Okay?
Wait a moment.
Okay.
So, we are having CD and DVD. I think you all are aware of CD and DVD, okay?
So, in pen drive also you can write this point that nowadays pen drives are coming in different styles, different colors, okay? So, all these things whatever you know, you can write it, okay? Then hard disk also you can write, ma'am. The best example, hard disk. Hard disk is also used to store the data, store photos, videos, all that. So, we can see the summary here. Primary memory, fast, temporary, and it is directly used by CPU.
Just wait a minute.
Okay, secondary memory, it is slower, permanent, and used for long-term storage. Then let us talk about operating system and its function. What is operating system? It is system software. This operating system acts like a bridge between user and computer hardware. I think you all are aware of what is software and hardware. If not, I will be saying you about software and hardware in our short question answers explanation video of BCS, okay? I will be giving you a quick recap of all the short questions. I will be giving you the complete details of short questions by which you can score full marks in your part A also. So, wait for that video. After seeing three of these videos only you watch that video, okay?
Until that, you don't watch that video, okay? Because in that there will be a quick recap of all the short questions, okay? So, here operating system will work as bridge, bridge between user and the hardware, okay? Examples you can see Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android, iOS. All these are the examples for operating system.
These are the operating system. These are not the devices, ma'am. These are operating systems who control, manage, and coordinate all activities of the computer. In part one, I have said you that the control unit in the block diagram of computer we have seen control unit and arithmetic and logical unit, right? In that I have said you that the control unit will monitor all the activities or all the operations which are performed in the computer. In the same way operating system is the thing or it is the software which controls or which acts like a monitor to all the activities of the computer, okay? We are having different types batching, time sharing, distributed, real-time, mobile. If they ask you for types, you can write these types. If not, you can leave these types, okay?
So, you can just have a look at the description if you want.
It execute batches of the jobs without user interaction interaction. So, you just have a look at the types of operating system. If they ask, you write, otherwise no issues. So, what are the functions of operating system? Let us see, okay? Process management, okay?
Process management is nothing but creating, scheduling, terminating whatever we are doing in the computer.
Whatever the process is done in the computer, that will be handled or that will be functioned by operating system.
Just example, in the features of computer we have seen multitasking, right? Like talking to a friend at the same time listening to the music, that is multitasking, right? So, multitasking will also be controlled by operating system. Here there is a example of multitasking running YouTube and at the same time creating some document on MS Word at the same time browsing on the browser.
So, this is the example of multitasking.
Memory management, so it manages the complete memory where to locate, where to deallocate. Whenever we have captured some photo, that photo where should that photo will go? In your mobile phone only, you just So, have a look at the example. You will be having normal camera. Nowadays, we are using Snapchat, okay, to get the pictures really very clear with filters, okay?
So, if you capture a photo or if you take a photo with the normal camera, that photo will be going to the camera photos. In your gallery, also you will be having different parts, right? Camera, Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp.
All the different folders will be there.
So, if you capture a photo on your normal camera, that photo will be going into the camera photos. If you capture a photo on Snapchat, that photo will be going into the Snapchat folder. If you get any photo from the WhatsApp, that photo will be going into the WhatsApp folder. So, how all these is happening?
We are getting the photos only. That all photos should be stored in one place, right? But, it is individually dividing all that photos so that there should be no confusion and there is smooth running of all the particular things. So, here memory management is nothing but that, okay? File management. Creating a file, deleting it, reading it, writing it, renaming it. So, whenever you are creating a new folder or something like that, it will also be operated or controlled by operating system. Device management is nothing but whenever we use input and output devices, like when we use keyboards or printers or speakers or microphones, all that will be managed by operating system. User interface, as I said you, graphical user interface, command line interface, all these will be operated or controlled by operating system. Security and protection means the computer will not allow any unauthorized or unknown person to come into the computer and steal the data or get the access to the data, okay? So, here operating system will help us to make the password, passwords, create the passwords, firewalls, encryption. Like Uh, if I'm having data here, if I don't want all the persons to see this word as data, I will be changing it to 1 2 3 4 and I will be giving a key to some other person uh, to whom I'm allowing to see this data. So, that person will be coming and that person will be using that key and he will be seeing that this is not 1 2 3 4, this is data, like that. So, uh, these are nothing but the techniques to protect the data, okay? So, networking. So, whenever we are connecting our device with Wi-Fi or with any hotspot or with any Bluetooth, all that will be controlled by operating system. Whenever we are doing any error, it will detect and it will say us that this thing is happening here. So, summary table you can just have a look.
If you want the notes, this BCS notes in which I'm explaining you, you can text me on my Instagram.
Let us talk about MS Word now. I think you all are aware of what is MS Word.
Yes or no? I think you all are. MS Word is used to create the files, to create any document, okay? MS Word word processing. MS Word is one of the uh, part of Microsoft company, okay?
Microsoft company have developed this MS Word. We are having MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, okay? So, let us talk about MS Word. What is word processing?
They might ask you what is word processing and write about MS Word and its features, like that. So, you have to write. Word processing is the use of computer software to create, edit, format, save and print text documents.
As I said you already, it is used to create the documents or after the documents, like that. So, it is used as typewriter, okay? Typewriter was used to make the documents, right? But now, in this generation, we are using word processors to process the data.
Like examples of word processing softwares are MS Word, Google Docs, WPS Office, LibreOffice Writer. So, these are the examples of the softwares which we use to create the document. These are not the documents, but these are the softwares which we use to create the documents, okay? Then, let us talk about what is MS Word. Word processing we already have seen. Now, let us talk about what is MS Word. So, this is nothing but Microsoft Word. As I have said you, this was developed by Microsoft company, okay? MS Word is a popular word processing software developed by Microsoft. As I said you, it is used to type, edit, format, and print documents. Whatever you know about it, you can write. Whatever I have said you, you can write, okay? Key features you can see. Text formatting, it is nothing but to change the text. Like uh to change the font, uh to change the color of it, to make it bold, to make it italic, or to underline the text. See here, you can see I have used bold letters here. Here also bold, here normal. Yes or no?
And I have used underlining here. So, all these features are done in the MS Word also. Paragraph formatting also we can do. Like we can change the paragraph into right or in the left. We can keep the paragraph in the middle or above or below, like that, okay?
Okay, then we have templates. Okay, we will be having different templates. By the help of that templates, directly we can make the documents. Insert tools, we can insert pictures, we can insert shapes, we can insert charts, tables, all that, okay? Insert tools are nothing but the tools which are used to insert something. Then, we have tables and charts. Then, we have spell check. If you are doing any spelling mistake, directly it will auto correct that spelling or it will highlight that word with uh uh making us to understand that we are doing some mistake there. Okay, find and replace. So, we can find the words, we can replace that words, all that.
Password protection, we can secure our document by locking it. The page setup can be done.
And we can save it. After saving it, we can also take a hard copy it a hard copy of it by using the printer's collaboration, auto save and versioning, mail merge. So, all these are the features. I think you all are aware of it and degree first year in the first sem computer students have MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint. So, if you are a student of computers, computer applications, B.Com computer applications, so whatever you have learned or whatever you have seen in your degree first semester, that you have in BCAs, okay? Uses you can see to write letters, to create reports, resumes, notices, certificates and brochures, writing project work. So, all these can be done by using MS Word.
Advantages you can see it is easy to use interface, saves times. It is neat and professional documents can be made.
It supports supports multimedia like we can insert different charts, different graphs, different tables, different images. So, it supports multimedia, okay? And it can also be used in different languages like we can make the documents in Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, Arabic, English, whatever the language we want, we can make the documents in that language, okay? And it saves the documents in the format uh docs, PDF, uh point or dot txt, like that, okay?
Summary you can just have a look. So, this is nothing but whatever we have learned in our answer, okay?
So, next we are having formatting.
Formatting is nothing but whatever the features we have seen here in MS Word, that is nothing but formatting.
Formatting, what is meant by formatting, ma? Let us have a look. Text formatting means changing the appearance of text and make it more attractive and readable. Like you can see that this text which you are seeing, which I'm highlighting it with the cursor, this is in bold. Whenever you are seeing this, you are thinking like yes, it is a question. It is in the bold letters. The font size is big. So here you can see that this is the question and this is the answer. So with the formatting text, I have changed this question into bold and in big and the answer I have given shortly with normal and with highlighting the keywords. So this is nothing but formatting the text mean changing the appearance of text. Like you will be wearing good dresses, you will be getting good hairstyle, you will be wearing some different essentials like that. So how you will be changing your appearance? If you're going to a function, your appearance will be changed. If you are at home, your appearance will be changed. If you're going to the college, completely you will be different like that. When we want to change the text color or text font, whatever we want to do in the text if we want to change the text, we will be using text formatting or it is known as text formatting. Let us see text formatting what is text formatting.
So font and style and sizes as I said you, text color, highlighting, bold, italic, underline already we have seen alignment like right, left, up, down, all that we have seen. Paragraph spacing we have seen in the features of MS Word, bullets and numbering. So these are nothing but these are known as bullets.
Okay, whenever we have 1 2 3 4 here not in these form, if we have numbers, that is numbering. Okay, borders and shading.
So here I have underlined it. I have just given a line here to separate both of these questions. So this is nothing but text formatting. I'm formatting the text in order to make it more attractive and readable, okay? See, example, if I keep the question also in this size and if I keep the answer also in this size, will there will be any difference between question and answer? No, right?
So, that is why I will be performing text formatting in order to make it attractive and more readable.
Next, the types of text formatting. Let us see font style. To change the color or to change uh the font. Like we will be having different handwritings, right?
Uh italic handwriting and we will be having cursive handwriting, our normal handwriting. So, in that way we can change the style of the font. Font size also can be changed. So, whatever you know about it, you can write in your own words. So, bold, italic, underline, you can see here. Bold.
Uh we can use a control plus B to make the uh text bold. We can use control plus I to make the text italic. We can use control plus U to make the text underline, like that. Font color, we can change the color of the font. Like I have used here orange. I have used pink here. I have used blue here. In order to highlight my channel name, I have used blue. In order to highlight the question, I have used orange. In order to make the question uh visible, I have made it bold. Like that, you can change the color. Okay.
So, text highlighting. You can highlight the text by any of the color, okay? Text alignment is nothing but aligning the text. We can make the text to go in the right or go in the left or in the middle, like that. Line and paragraph spacing is nothing but giving the spaces in the words or giving the spaces in the paragraphs, like how I gave the spaces between these paragraphs. Bullets and numbering already we have discussed.
Changing case, like upper case, means in capital letters and in lower case, nothing but small letters, all that. Summary table, you can just have a look. If you want the notes, let me know on my Instagram. Drop me a message. I will be giving you the notes of all these, okay? Then conclusion is nothing but text formatting helps make documents clear, organized, and professional-looking. MS Word offers easy tools to style your text and improve presentation. You have to subscribe to our channel Learn with Sayed on YouTube for notes, explanation, important questions, and more, okay?
Now, next question is email sending and receiving process. This is the last question in this video, and the remaining topics we will be discussing in our part three.
Why I'm making three different parts means I'm giving the detailed explanation about each and every question, right? That is why it will become a very long video if I explain you all the topics in the same video.
That is why I have made three videos in order to give you the clear and simple easy explanation. Let us talk about email. I think you all are aware of email. What is email? Email is the way or it is something which is used to send or receive some communication, you can say, right? If we want to communicate, if we want to send any message, if we want to get any message, we will be using email. Just wait a minute. Let me see the charging. Okay.
So, email is used to send the messages or to receive the messages. Email full form is electronic mail, okay?
Before we used to write a letter, right?
So, here we we are using email to send a letter or to get a letter, but faster and digital, okay? Steps. They will be asking you, "Write the procedure to send a email. Write the procedure to receive an email." So, if you are working with the email, it is really very easy to write the steps, okay? In your own words also, you can write.
Okay, in your own words also, you can write the steps, okay? Open an email app like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook. Outlook will be in the computers. Gmail will be on your mobile.
Yahoo will be there. So, what you need to do? First step, you need to open an email app. Okay, after opening email app you have to click compose. Compose option will be given different types of options you can see on the screen where you should click compose in order to send the email. After clicking email, first open email then click on compose then you have to write the email address of receiver.
Email address of receiver is nothing but email ID of the receiver to whom you are sending the letter or to whom you are sending the message that person's email address or email ID should be written.
Then subject for what you are writing that email. Then message whatever you want to say in that email you can say.
Then you have to click on attach. If you want to attach any photos or PDFs like that any files if you want to attach you can attach otherwise directly you can just click on send. The email will be sent. Now let us talk about receiving email. You have to go to the email app then you have to click on inbox then you can click on message to read it. If you want to reply you can click on reply. If you want to forward you can click on forward. If you want to delete the email you can delete the email. So this is as simple as that. Whatever you know about the email you can write like email is an electronic mail which is a way or which is a thing which is used to send the messages or to get the messages using the internet.
Internet is the really very most important thing in order to send and receive messages. If there is no internet we cannot email something to someone or get the email from someone.
Okay, it is like sending a letter but faster and digital. So these are the steps to receive or send the email. So this was our part two.
I hope you all got whatever I have said in this video. If not, let me know in the comment section. If you want the notes, okay, whatever the notes you are seeing on the screen, these notes are prepared by me. So if you want the notes for the preparation you text me on my Instagram but note payment is must and [snorts] definitely watch my third part in order to complete this basic computer skills subject. If you watch that part three, this subject will be completed and whatever the questions I might ask you in the examination, you will be able to write, okay? So, see you all in the next video. Text me on my Instagram for notes. Bye-bye.
