While traditional 9-5 jobs are necessary for financial survival, individuals should pursue hobbies, interests, and activities outside of work to prevent burnout and find personal fulfillment; additionally, downsizing one's lifestyle and investing surplus money in the stock market can help achieve financial freedom and reduce dependence on traditional employment.

Americans Are CRASHING OUT Over Their 9-5'sAdded:
What the [ __ ] are we doing on this earth, man?
Every day most of us wake up and go to a job THAT WE REALLY DON'T [ __ ] LIKE, but we can't really quit because we got to get the money to pay the bills that they say it's important to pay.
What the [ __ ] is THE POINT OF THIS LIFE, MAN?
WE GO TO GROCERY STORES AND BUY FOOD THAT GOD GAVE US FOR FREE. MHM.
WHY THE [ __ ] DO WE PAY FOR LIGHTS?
WELL, THAT'S JUST the way it is. [ __ ] YOU.
I'M TIRED OF ALL THIS as just the way it is [ __ ] This whole [ __ ] system is garbage. AMERICA AIN'T NOTHING BUT A BIG ASS [ __ ] PLANTATION, MAN. I hear that. I really hear the frustration. But to be honest, you need to find things outside of work that give you some form of fulfillment, some form of satisfaction. Pursue interests, hobbies, do things that you actually like to do, try to live for you. You can't just live to work because if you drop dead tomorrow, you'll be replaced. Somebody's going to come in and replace you.
They'll put the job on LinkedIn within 24 hours of you passing. I'm not saying don't do a good job. I'm not saying don't take your job seriously, but you need to think of things outside of work to do that make you happy or at least give you some sense of fulfillment. I get it, we're in the middle of a cost of living crisis, inflation keeps going that way, you're working more to pay more bills, you're chasing your tail, but try to do something for you. If it means downsizing your lifestyle, then you may have to do so. You can't just work work work, you need to do things that gives you some form of fulfillment.
Now, some folks will be against this message. They'll be like, you need to work. You're put on this earth to work, you need to work. I don't necessarily agree with that. I don't think you're here just to work, you're here to do more than just work. And if you're not refreshed, if you don't have things going on outside of work, at some point you'll burn out.
There are points in time where you need to exert yourself more than others, but it's important that you try to find some balance and do things outside of work.
This video is a little bit of a different video today. Usually I talk about the job market, personal finance, inflation, the state of the economy, etc. But this is also important to note that you can't just work, work, work.
You also need to do some things for you so that you're better at work. And remember, if you die tomorrow, you would be replaced. So, don't give it 150% every single day. Find some time for yourself. That's super important. What the [ __ ] ARE WE DOING HERE? THERE WERE DAYS I DON'T WANT TO be on this earth.
And I'm not saying I want to unalive myself and nothing like that.
BUT I'M TIRED, MAN. IT'S LIKE, WHAT THE [ __ ] is the point of any of this? To work TILL WE 60, 70 YEARS OLD? MOST OF US AIN'T GOING TO [ __ ] LIVE TO SEE 50.
BUT I BUT WE GOT TO WORK TO MAYBE RETIRE?
MAN, [ __ ] YOU AND ALL THAT [ __ ] MAN. I DON'T GIVE A [ __ ] ABOUT WHO PRESIDENT, LEFT, RIGHT, AND ALL THIS DUMB ASS [ __ ] I'M TIRED OF THIS WHOLE [ __ ] GAME, MAN. IT'S A BIG ASS GAME.
IT'S A BIG ASS CHARADE.
AMERICA IS A [ __ ] PLANTATION.
I DON'T GIVE A [ __ ] WHAT NOBODY GOT TO SAY ABOUT IT, MAN.
I hear that. I hear that. I really do.
But ultimately, we all have bills to pay. So, whether we like it or not, we're going to have to work because to exist costs money. You leave your door, 100 bucks just to breathe fresh air. So, it's the price that we have to pay. And in order to pay it, unless of course you come from wealth, you're going to have to work whether you like it or not. So, what can you do to help to balance you out? As I mentioned before, try to do things that you're genuinely interested in. Also, think about pivoting and leaning into what you're actually good at, what you like, because you never know. I'm not a fan of saying monetize everything you're good at, but you may like the idea of monetizing something that you're good at. You never know, so maybe lean into that. You may be interested in doing something along those lines. What that thing is is up to you. You have to go and explore and see what you can do. But ultimately, we need money to exist. We can't run away from that fact. You're not going to exist in this world for free. So, it's just a hard pill that we're going to have to swallow. Having said that though, what you can do, as I mentioned before, try to downsize your lifestyle so your money actually goes further, and lean into doing things that you genuinely like to do. Pursue hobbies and interests outside of work. That way, you feel less pressed about work. In any case, what would be interesting to know is what you guys think about this topic. Let me know down in the comments below. I'm going to link the full video down in the description.

My story and the 9-5 world. Ooh, let's get into it. So, in 2015, I went to college, 2019 graduated, 4-year degree, got a job in the 9-5 world. Oh my god, I absolutely freaking hated it. It was a transportation company. I worked 8-5.
Not even 9-5. I don't know how they snuck that extra hour in there. But, I worked 8-5, had a 1-hour lunch break, and worked Monday through Friday. I quickly learned that this was not for me, and I want to explain why. People who think like an entrepreneur are going to understand exactly what I'm saying.
So, I would go to work every day from 9-5. My manager was a woman. She would micromanage the [ __ ] out of me, okay?
And then I realized shortly that all day every day I couldn't even do my actual job because I was being put in meetings every second of every single day. And then when I would come out of the meeting, they'd be like, "Oh, well, why didn't you hit your numbers for the month?" I don't know, because you had me in 82,000 meetings. Yeah, this is one of the worst parts about a 9-5. You're in meetings all day with your boss, and then they turn around and ask you, "Where's the work?" And you're thinking, "I was doing the same thing as you all day. What do you mean, where's the work?" What they're trying to say is, "Why didn't you come in early? Why didn't you work through your lunch break? Or why didn't you stay late?" And they'll bring this up the one time you don't do it. You can be in early, work through your lunch break, and leave late every single day, or at least four days of the week, and the one day you don't, they'll bring it up. This can be super frustrating. I've been there, trust me.
I've had some jobs in the past with micromanagers who do things like this.
It's super frustrating. Now, I'm not the sort of person that says, "Scrap a 9-5.
You don't need a 9-5." I do recognize the importance of it. Most people are not built to be entrepreneurs. Most people don't have business ideas that are going to be successful. So, you do need to work, whether you like it or not. But, I also understand the frustrations that come with working a 9-5. Trust me, I've been there.
Constantly getting yelled at for not hitting my numbers when the numbers were literally not obtainable. So, was getting in trouble for that. I came in at 5:00 or 8:04 one day because I forgot to bring a lunch cuz I wasn't going to take a lunch that day and I had a stop at the gas station to get food and I got a write-up. 3 minutes late, got a write-up. Also, was told every single day that if I did not show up at 7:30 and leave at 6:00 that I did not care about my job. Okay, you are paying me from 8:00 to 4:00. They wanted me to work 7:30 to 6:00 and not take a lunch and if you did take a lunch, you also did not care about your job. So, 6 months of this goes by, I call my dad every single day crying. My dad is a very self-made entrepreneur and he's laughing at me and I'm like, "Dad, why are you laughing? Help me." And he's like, "I love this for you." And I'm like, "Why?" And I will never forget it.
I was driving home, I was in traffic like a [ __ ] and my dad said, "I love this because you will learn so quickly to never work a 9-5 ever again and you will learn how to get it on your own." Now, during that time I was interviewing for the MLB. I was a sports reporter wanting to be one at least. I graduated with a degree in sports broadcasting and I really wanted to work in sports. So, it technically wasn't a 9-5 and it was something that I loved to do. Always pick something that you love to do. I picked the transportation company because I needed to make quick cash cuz I knew the job with the MLB was going to make me relocate and I needed to save money. Absolutely hated it. Did not understand it at all and it just sucked because I didn't like what I was doing and I wasn't passionate in it.
Also, it was a sales job and I'm not a pushy person. So, like it just wasn't for me. So, I finally get the job with the MLB. I'm in month seven of my 9-5. I Y'all, I didn't even go in and quit because they treated me so terribly. I literally texted my manager and I was like, "Yeah, not coming in tomorrow. I quit. Like, see you. I was relocating to Florida, working a 9-5. Now, the entire time, I want to add, I was investing in the stock market the entire time with my savings. I was probably 20, 21 when I got the job in my 9-5 field cuz I had just graduated from college. Yeah, so I was 22 years old. And I started investing in the stock market when I was 18. So, when I I would save money, the money I was making at my 9-5 at the time, uh back 6, 7 years ago, I was making $40,000 a year plus commission.
Obviously not a lot of money at all.
Like, obviously. But, I lived in a townhome with my friends. I paid $425 a month. I did buy my brand new car that I had, but then everything else I would save and invest it into the stock market. So, that money was making money on its own and it wasn't forcing me to work for it. So, that's the whole thing.
Like, you have to make money while you're sleeping to become successful. My dad taught me at a very, very, very, very, very young age of you're not making money while you're sleeping, you're going broke. Fast forward, I moved to Florida to cover the MLB. The stock market crashes due to COVID in 2020. I take every single penny I have and I invest it into the stock market because the Dow went so far down and what goes down can only go back up. I invested every single thing that I had into the stock market at that time because I knew eventually we were going to come out of it and it was going to go up. Well, that's what my financial advisor said and I trusted him. So, again, risk. Took risk. We had no idea where the world was going. I thought the world was going to end. I thought we were all going to die. I had no idea.
But, I took every single ounce of savings that I had and invested it.
That's a lot of people's problems.
People don't realize in order to make money, you have to spend money. I had to take $5,000 out of my savings, put it into the stock market, and then have it make money for me. A lot of people don't even have savings. I have savings cuz I'm disciplined and I live well below my means. I did at the time. And so, I made a ton of money in the stock market, and then I ended up getting let go because there was no fans, I there was no baseball being played, obviously.
I was a reporter at the time, so they let me go. I ended up moving back home and living in my dad's basement during COVID for about 6 months. Then I transferred to Dallas. I was doing the same thing, so I was covering um the TCU football program at the time. Then I was covering the Dallas Mavericks, and then I was essentially covering the Dallas Cowboys. So, at that while all of that is happening, I'm still working on the side cuz I'm a workaholic, and I literally have discipline. I I'm I love to work. Like you cannot be lazy. You cannot be lazy if you do not want to work a 9-5. You have to be a hustler. Some real gems here. She talked about downsizing her lifestyle. That's something I talk about a lot. This way it gives you surplus cash to invest in your future or to invest in the stock market, which fundamentally is an investment in your future. And the second thing she spoke about at length is investing.
If she didn't invest in 2020, God knows where she'd be today. But the fact she invested in 2020, she's probably sitting on a lot of cash today. Have you seen what the S&P 500's done in the last 5 years? It's ridiculous. And that's why it's important to try to invest your money, especially if you're a low earner, because that's probably the only thing that's truly going to outpace inflation.
There's no guarantee, as she mentioned.
There are peaks and troughs, but it's probably the best thing you've got, or the best option you've got anyway. What would be interesting to know though is what you guys think about this topic.
