Orlando Miner delivers a sharp critique of how subscription models are killing the concept of private property, turning car owners into permanent tenants. Itโs a sobering look at the predatory evolution of modern consumer capitalism where you no longer truly own what you pay for.

Car Ownership Is OVER (They Put A Subscription On Everything)Added:
These companies are so greedy and it's crazy that things like this are allowed, right? So, the first I heard of it was Hyundai in Toyota >> to where you have to pay a subscription fee to be able to utilize the things in your vehicle >> that you purchased along with the vehicle like the radio, the navigation.
Even if you're using navigation from your phone, playing from CarPlay or Google Play, you have to pay a monthly fee.
>> H and now you hear GM, Ford, the rest of the manufacturers are getting on board with this by 2028. That's some >> What if I told you it's unlimited? These guys will continue to nickel and dime you no matter what.
>> It's a evil world we live in.
>> Listen, I tried to forewarn people. I tried to let people know, hey, uh, you may not want to buy that car. Um, hey, um, that house, you may want to hold off on it. Um, yeah, you may want to get your credit together because it's going to get worse and worse and worse. And now we're starting to see that it's not just one car manufacturer. They're all jumping on board because why would they want to see another corporation making easy money off OF HIS CUSTOMERS? WHY WOULD THEY WANT THEIR competitors to get all that money? THEY WANT TO JOIN IN, TOO. They want to join in in everyone on a subscription. Corruption is not bad.
Corruption is only bad if I'm not involved.
>> That's right. You want to listen to music in your car? Well, you got to pay $9 for that. YOU WANT NAVIGATION? That's already in Google Maps. Oh, man. Listen, that's another $20. You want heated seats?
50. BUT GUESS WHAT? We got a deal for you.
They They HAVE A DEAL FOR YOU. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THEM INDIVIDUALLY. We're going to give you in a package. A family package. That's right. And it's going to shave off $10. Sounds like Netflix, huh?
Cuz it is, man. I'm dead.
>> But listen, guys, we're going to talk about it. You need to watch this video cuz I'm going to break it down and tell you what these corporations are doing when it comes to these subscriptions. MY NAME IS ORLANDO. WELCOME to the channel, guys. Make sure you hit that like and subscribe button. It really does help out the channel. Also, too, guys, GUYS, WE'RE TRYING TO get to 200,000 subscribers and I need your help to do that. We have a lot of viewers that are unsubscribed. If I give you value, please hit that subscribe button. Also too, you know what I'm about to say. I have a newsletter and it's free. COMPLETELY FREE. HOW can you beat it? We talk about things like the HOUSING MARKET. WE TALK about things like budgeting. We talk about things like gasoline prices going up. We talk about things like layoffs that are coming up. More in detail and it's free.
And also too, if you need any type of financing that deals with commercial properties or investment properties, I am your guy. I've been a lender for almost 20 years. 20 years. And I can assist you with that. That information is in the pin comment in the description. What do we have here? We have corporations or car manufacturers trying to nickel and dime you underneath the guise of we're giving you extra perks. That's right. The good old days of listening to music in your car, finding out where you're trying to go, even getting a notifications of recalls.
Even just even those little things now cost.
>> Come on, man. I just don't want a new car now. Because you mean to tell me even if I come to you and I purchase my vehicle cash?
>> Yep.
>> I buy a brand new car cash, >> I have to still pay you monthly for the life of this vehicle >> to use my own phone to listen to music or use my navigation that I already pay a phone bill for.
>> Yeah, that's what they're saying.
>> This is asinine. M >> now the government and Congress and all them, they want to do something. Do something about this. These cars ain't even worth the money that that price tag says.
>> Everything is so marked up. They're cars that don't even last 5 years.
>> Their engines are seizing up >> made out of plastic.
>> Cars eating up oil.
>> You get into one accident, your car explodes. It's going on fire.
I refuse I refuse to pay a subscription fee >> to any of these car manufacturers. I know that, you know, we are resourceful people and we're going to find a way around it eventually, whether it's buying an aftermarket uh uh entertainment system for your car or whatever, but we shouldn't have to.
>> We should not have to. There's no way that you purchase a $50,000 car and then you have to pay to use your phone in your own car.
>> Yeah, that's 20.
>> You have already purchased both and paying for your phone monthly and now you want me to pay a subscription to my car. Might as well take the bus.
>> See, you see the young lady talking and she's she's having a hard time mentally putting together like you you GUYS WANT ME TO PAY.
YEAH, YOU GUYS WANT ME TO pay for music, but I already pay for the music on Spotify.
Imagine this making sense. So, you pay a $20 subscription to Spotify, whatever that subscription is. Then on top of that, you pay a monthly bill on your phone to use your phone. Let's just say it's 70 bucks. Then you're telling me to listen to said subscription that I already have with Spotify and the subscription that I have with my phone to run the internet to my phone. I now HAVE TO PAY YOU $20 TO LISTEN TO said music in my car. I thought Bluetooth was free.
>> THAT'S CRAZY.
>> NOW THESE guys are BLOCKING BLUETOOTH.
YOU CANNOT EVEN LINK YOUR PHONE TO YOUR car anymore unless you pay $20 a month.
hand me my money.
And people wonder why I say keep your car. PE PEOPLE WONDER why I say you don't need that new car because you don't know what all the costs that come WITH IT. OH, THAT'S RIGHT. YOU WANT a BMW because you think BMW is gonna get away from the subscriptions.
Who's going to tell them? Who Who's going to let them know? BMW is one of the top. Lexus is another one. But you thought to yourself, WELL, THEN I JUST GO to Toyota. Toyota's doing it, too.
You said GM, right? I I heard someone say GM. GM's got you. You have to use your mind. But listen, listen, guys. I know. I know you're like, "Well, how how do we how DO WE GET AWAY FROM THIS?"
QUIT TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH the Joneses.
Quit trying to say, "YOU KNOW WHAT? I NEED A NEW CAR BECAUSE NOT BECAUSE YOU NEED A NEW CAR, NOT BECAUSE THE CAR IS MESSED UP, not because IT'S G IT'S HARDER to get to FROM A TO B, but because you want something new. But I'm here to tell you, you are going to get something new.
UNFORTUNATELY, YOU WON'T LIKE THE new bill you're going to get that it doesn't matter if you bought it cash because you don't own it. I mean, obviously. I mean, you can't even play music on it.
But I hear you. I heard someone in back say Orlando. I don't know where you're getting this news from, but I haven't heard anything of this.
Well, let's let's go ahead and let the news tell you.
>> You buy the car, you expect everything to work, but automakers are changing the rules, turning features already installed in the car into subscriptions.
These include features meant to keep you safe. One of the most important ones that you need to know about is the automatic collision notification, ACN.
>> And that is a system where if your vehicle is involved in a crash, your vehicle without you doing anything automatically notifies emergency personnel.
>> But for many drivers, it only works if they're subscribed to it.
>> Here we have this technology that studies have shown are capable of saving hundreds to a thousand or so lives every year. Yet there's resistance. Why?
Because, you know, they want to charge a subscription for it.
>> Look, this is your family, guys. These are the Look, these are the guys that be like, "Man, let me tell you what. Uh, if I could have Toyota as a last name, I would. Man, if I could if I could just put BMW as my middle initial.
We're We're like family, man. Every time I go to the dealer, Todd, he he tells me, "I got you. I I I'mma take care of you. Guess what? We're we're you will you'll have the easiest transition into a new vehicle. And I understand why Todd is doing that because him and the financial manager, they're about to rake you over the coast. That's right. You're you're going to get all the new stuff.
The GM, you know, YOU WANT YOU WANT NOTIFICATIONS TO YOUR FAMILY if you get IN A CAR ACCIDENT. IT IT COULD SAVE LIVES, but all you got to do is sign on the dotted line. $20. $20 a month. Oh, that's that's not enough.
LISTEN, I THOUGHT YOU GUYS WERE FAMILY.
WHY WHY WOULD HE just Why wouldn't he do that for free? YOU GOT A CHARGE TO SEND A TEXT MESSAGE that my car is crashed that MY THAT MY CAR GOT BALLED UP ON on on an interstate and you're telling me only way that my kids, family, or anyone could know could know is if I pay $20 extra a month.
H interesting. But let's continue. Most of us use a system like this. I'm using Apple CarPlay right now. I use it for maps, music, and hands-free calling. But some automakers, they're phasing it out and replacing it with their own built-in systems that'll only work with a paid subscription.
>> So, that's the sort of thing that we're trying to to to stop.
>> State Senator James Scufus sponsors a bill to ban car makers from turning built-in features into subscriptions.
For as long as cars have been invented, you've not had to have paid a subscription to access those features.
>> I mean, do you see this as the next wave of corporate nickel and dimming, essentially turning safety into luxury?
>> It is. Uh there's no question.
>> But at Mohawk Chevrolet, the dealership president says this is about giving customers more choices.
>> You can either raise the price of a vehicle or you can do what the subscription type stuff is. This way, you can pick and choose what you want to do. So, it can really help to keep that cost lower.
>> The bill is waiting to be delivered to the governor's desk. If signed, automakers will be fined for every violation.
>> You heard the the the car salesman guy.
He he said, "Listen, it's either you guys pay this or YOU PAID THE PRICE THAT they were going to charge you with all of that included." Mhm. Nobody knows what that price is, but but HE KNOWS WHAT THE PRICE HE saw that the price was. He said, "Listen, guys.
We We got to give these We got to give the customers more options. We We got to give them more options because this price, they're not going to pay it. So, how about we pay charge them $60,000?"
We we know we know a couple of years ago, four years ago, it was only 30, but we're charging them $60,000 for a brand new car. And how about we just alocard everything? You You want a faster engine?
You want to go faster? We're going to do that, too.
>> We're going to open up the engine for guys who like to drive very fast. Mhm.
And we're going TO CHARGE THEM $20 EXTRA TO DRIVE one second faster.
>> Sensational.
>> We're going to corner the market. We're going to every type of person. No matter if you want to listen to music, you want to listen to an audible, no matter if you want to go faster, no matter if you care about safety, no matter IF YOU WANT TO SEND TEXT MESSAGES, we're going to charge you for everything. outlet car.
Is it really that much stuff that they're really now charging you in in a car that's you know that they're going to charge you a subscription based on like we're running 10 Netflix in here?
Yeah. Yeah. That that is the truth and I understand that some people may not believe this. They may not believe but let me go ahead and just show you all of the things that is being charged on a Toyota. Now, a Toyota is a has always been this car that's been known as a reliable, affordable car, right? Right.
RIGHT. I KNOW. I KNOW. But but what happens when a corporation just their hunger? THEY JUST LOVE MONEY.
They just love money. Let's go ahead and see everything.
>> Here's the five subscriptions that the 2025 Toyota Camry has because y'all want to know. And when I bought it exactly one year ago, I was shook too. And my free trials just expired. So number one is the drive connect, which as you can see now says subscribe. Every time I turn my car on, no matter what, it says subscribe now. So this is an AI service I can pay for. This is also if you want to use the built-in navigation. So unless you don't pay and you don't use CarPlay, you can't use anything. Also, behind a payw wall is the audio feature.
Also, if you don't have CarPlay, you'll no longer be able to listen to music here. Thankfully, which I thought I was wrong, but the SOS button where you can call 911 if you wreck, it'll connect you to a dispatcher and send them to your location. That I bought the car new, so I don't know what the deal is if you don't have a new car is active for 10 years until my free trial expires. Same with the service features. So, that's a feature in the app that will basically tell me whenever I need an oil change.
I'll get a reminder. If there's any recalls, it notifies me. I think that's the majority of what it does. Now, on to the different subscription tiers. So >> before we even continue, I do want to add in really quickly. She did say you could you could supersede some of this stuff be CarPlay. That is no longer the case in 2026.
In 2026 they said woo people are trying to circumvent paying us our money that is deserved to us.
There's no way someone's going to listen to music in their own car without paying us. And now CarPlay.
CarPlay, CarPlay, Android Auto, you will not be able to use unless you pay for the subscription. But anyway, let's continue.
>> Options. Now, this is what I see when I open the app now. It's expired. So, I can no longer start my car from inside my house. I can no longer preheat it.
Literally, it's just now getting cold and just snowed for the first time. So, I'm so stressed about that. And I learned from you guys that yes, you can remote start your car, but it doesn't reach for my house. That's the only major con. And for me, I use CarPlay.
So, these are not deal breakers cuz I don't use these features if the app feature was a 10-year free trial. I would have loved that, too, cuz I only paid $42,000 in full, you know, not too much.
>> And I just want to add in this, guys.
The reason why these corporations give you so many free trials and they say to you, "Hey, you know what? You you can you can go ahead and take this three-year trial subscription even on a older car." The reason why is they're trying to get you addicted. They're trying to get you used to having that convenience so that when you GO BUY THAT NEW CAR, you can't live without it.
>> I need my payday.
>> See, Toyota is hoping that you have withdrawal symptoms LIKE A LIKE AN ADDICT. THEY'RE THEY'RE THEY'RE SAYING, "OH, MAN. WE WE HOPE THAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE LIKE, "WE can't live without that navigation. We can't live without listening to Spotify. We have to have ALL THE SAFETY FEATURES. BUT HERE'S THE QUESTION THAT I would love to ask. All of these awards that a lot of these guys are talking about like uh JD whatever or JD Power or whatever the the the award may be. They're saying this is THE MOST SAFEST CAR EVER. Are all of those things safe? Only only only because they're underneath a payw wall.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE REGULAR person who isn't paying $25, $100 a month for a subscription service to get all the safety features? Or is your car not safe at all now? Is it is it can if I crash like the lady said in the very beginning, is it going to explode?
Nobody knows.
is saying that companies like Toyota, they want to basically make it so that you have to pay to use like the navigation, like the Bluetooth >> Mhm.
>> and pay to like stream your music and >> you got to be kidding me because you really think I'm about to pay damn near $60,000 for a new car >> and then you want me to pay so that I can listen to music and or use the navigation?
Y'all, they straight up lost their damn minds. And I will drive this car until the wheels fall off of it just because of that >> And that's what I suggest everyone do. I I suggest you research, research, research. Second biggest PURCHASE OF YOUR LIFE.
I MEAN, WHY WOULD you want to research, right? Research. Make sure that what a car that you are buying the the options that you have available. Make sure that you're not leaving the car lot with the car dealer telling you, "I don't know.
We'll look into it, but sign these papers right now. We we'll look into that. And only afterwards you'll find out that you have to pay this." YEAH, I I I'VE been seeing lots of that. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SENDING me emails and saying, "Orlando, the the car dealer Well, you shouldn't have signed this without that information." I know. I know. Someone's gonna say, "Arlando, don't you think that's petty?"
IS IT REALLY PETTY? AGAIN, IS it really petty to to say, "I will not sign this paperwork that says that I will have to pay you x amount of dollars if I don't understand everything about this." Is that really, Patty? I I KNOW SOMEBODY LIKE, "IT'S JUST IT'S just music." Do you want to listen to no music in your car without having to pay uh basically $200 privilege to do it? I I'm just asking for a friend.
>> NO, NO, NO.
>> ANYWAY, GUYS, IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE before it gets better. If you are waiting for the government to step in and corporations to to lock hands together and say, "Ah, man, we were wrong. We're not going to charge these guys."
you're gonna be waiting a long time.
Again, get your credit together, sit on the sidelines with a purpose, and understand, let me say this again, understand it's going to get worse before it gets better. But if you love content like this, please join the Patreon, guys. I do exclusive videos over there and you will love it. And also too, you won't get all of your information from this one video.
