The video effectively highlights the metabolic and psychological whiplash of transitioning from GLP-1 suppression to pregnancy-induced hunger. It serves as a sobering reminder that pharmaceutical weight management often faces a complex reckoning when natural biological processes take over.

I Got Pregnant Right After GLP-1… So Fast (Q&A)本站添加:
Good morning, friends. Welcome, or welcome back to my channel.
>> [music] >> I decided I am going to be doing a little wake and bake sesh with you guys.
I am baking a cake for my husband's 31st birthday, um which is tomorrow. And so, yeah, I thought we could do that and also do a little bit of a chit-chat Q&A style video. I have not actually posted my official, like, pregnancy announcement yet, but I am currently I've just entered my 13th week of pregnancy, so we are officially into the second trimester.
And I thought I could just maybe do like a Q&A type of video just regarding like pregnancy and like specifically coming off of a GLP-1 and then going straight into pregnancy. And so, basically, I asked ChatGPT to come up with a list of questions, like, Q&A type questions that people might ask me um that I can kind of answer and just, like I said, chit-chat while we bake a cake. So, before we get into baking the cake, I did want to show you the ingredients I will be using. So, today I'm going to be making a chocolate cake and I am going to be using a boxed cake mix, but I like to kind of jazz it up a little bit and do like the hack that makes it taste more homemade. So, really all it boils down to, and you can do this with any boxed cake mix, is you look at what ingredients it calls for.
So, this calls for three eggs, so I'm going to be using four.
It calls for 1 cup of water, so I'm going to be using 1 cup of whole milk.
And it calls for 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, but instead of vegetable oil, I'll be using 1/3 cup of salted butter.
I also like to add a whole package of whatever flavor cake mix it is, of that Jell-O mix flavor. So, I'm going to be using just this plain chocolate Jell-O mix and also a half a cup, whoop, of sour cream. I know this part sounds kind of weird, but trust me, you guys, I do this with all of my cakes and cupcakes, and it really does make a difference. It makes it taste so much more like homemade.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> So, before we get into the Q&A, I did want to give just a little bit of background about myself in case you're here seeing my face for the first time.
Um if that is you, hi, welcome. My name is Jasmine and I had been on a weight loss journey utilizing the GLP-1 compounded medication tirzepatide. I was on tirzepatide for about 2 years, um had lost 150 lb, and then decided to come off of my GLP-1 so that I could start preparing my body for trying to conceive and have a baby in the year of 2026. And so, that's kind of where we're at now. I am currently, like I said earlier, 13 weeks pregnant. This is my second baby. And um yeah, let's just get into the Q&A. First question, what made you stop your GLP-1 before getting pregnant? So, I know that there are a lot of people who kind of get pregnant by accident um when they started GLP-1.
Honestly, I've heard lots of stories of women who were previously um struggling with infertility and got on a GLP-1 and were able to conceive that way.
Um that being said, I also am aware that GLP-1s are not like safe per se as far as like FDA guidelines or whatever, whoever makes those decisions. Um they have not been deemed safe in pregnancy um just because there isn't honestly enough research on how they affect pregnancy.
Um I do know, I think I heard that they actually came out and said GLP-1s are safe to use while breastfeeding, which is a good thing, um a positive sign, so maybe at some point they'll be able to come out and say, you know, whether they are actually safe for pregnancy or not.
Personally, I do have a history of losing a pregnancy due to some genetic issues that happened, we chose to terminate our first pregnancy, and I think that whole experience really made me like super cautious when it comes to my pregnancies. Like, when I was pregnant with my daughter, Aubrey, I literally would not take like any type of medication. Like, I was afraid to take Tylenol. I remember I got sick with COVID when I was pregnant with Aubrey like in my first trimester and I was running a fever and I literally like would not take anything. Like, I didn't take any Tylenol or anything because I was just so terrified. Not to say that what happened with our first pregnancy was caused by taking any type of medication cuz it absolutely was not, but I think I was just being a little extra cautious and I still am, you know, um with this pregnancy as well. I I don't want to take anything unnecessarily. So, um I did decide to come off my GLP-1 3 months prior to starting to try and conceive because that was about the amount of time it takes to get the GLP-1 fully out of your system, as well as the amount of time that I wanted to have to start taking my prenatals and kind of start prepping my body for trying to conceive. So, this next question I kind of just answered. It says, "How long before trying to conceive did you come off your GLP-1?"
It was 3 months um before trying to conceive. "Did your doctor recommend stopping it or was it your decision?"
Um I talked to my doctor about it. I talked to my PCP about it, as well as my OB/GYN, and they both um were on board with my plan and um you know, were supportive of it. So, but ultimately, I guess it was like my decision to come off of it. Next question, "Did you get pregnant right away after stopping?" So, um like I said, we did not even try to start conceiving until I was already 3 months off of it.
Um but we did conceive our first round of trying. And um I kind of talked about this in my vlog where I shared the 2-week wait and everything. Um but basically, this pregnancy was the first pregnancy that me and my husband have ever actually like tried um to conceive. With my daughter, Aubrey, it kind of happened not by accident, but it's like we weren't really trying, but we weren't like trying to not get pregnant.
Um and then with our very first pregnancy that ended in termination, that one was a complete surprise. So, this pregnancy was the very first one where I actively was tracking my um cycle and using LH test strips and um trying to conceive in my fertile window, and it did work the very first time.
Which I honestly just want to say, that is by no means like the norm, and um I'm aware that for most women, it does take a few rounds of trying to conceive even if you're doing everything right. So, just keep that in mind, you know, what we experienced is not the norm, and you know, we are very fortunate that it happened that way, but it certainly is not like you know, normal by any means, and I don't want people to kind of get that idea. You know, especially me having PCOS, in the back of my mind, I've always kind of knew that there was a potential I could have trouble trying to conceive, you know, back before I ever had children.
Um and I've just been very fortunate that we haven't had any issues with it. And for a lot of women, like I said, you know, trying to conceive takes more than just one try, and that's totally normal.
And if you are someone who's trying to conceive and it's taking a few tries, please don't be discouraged listening [clears throat] to my story, because again, like, it's >> [music] >> it's not like the average.
>> [music] >> So, the next question, "How did your body react to after stopping the GLP-1?"
So, if y'all have been watching me for a while, y'all probably already know the answer to this question, but basically, my body went straight back to how it was prior to being on a GLP-1, which was me just struggling with my weight.
Um I did have quite a bit of regain directly after stopping the GLP-1. I gained about 20 lb pretty quickly. I think it was like within 2 months I gained the 20 lb, or maybe the 3 months.
I can't really remember. Um and then I went on to gain an additional like 15 lb straight away after I got pregnant. So, as of right now um where I'm sitting, I've gained about 45 lb from like the lowest I got down to on while I was on a GLP-1. Um actually a little bit more, probably like probably like 48 lb, close to 50 lb since my lowest, which the lowest I ever got down to while on a GLP-1 was 192-ish lb. Um so, yeah, I like I said, I regained quite a bit of that before I got pregnant. And then since being pregnant, I've put on a good like 25 to 30 lb already. Um yeah, and that and that's just me being honest with you guys.
Since coming off my GLP-1, my body has obviously like just kind of rebounded pretty hard. And to be fair, prior to starting my GLP-1, I was 3 months postpartum, and so I just had a baby. Um so, I had gained like 70 lb with my pregnancy with my daughter before having her. And then like I said, at 3 months postpartum is when I started the GLP-1. Did you experience rapid weight gain in early pregnancy? Yes. And I Again, I just kind of touched on that, but most definitely I have been experiencing some pretty rapid weight gain. How different did your hunger feel compared to when you were on a GLP-1?
I think this is a pretty obvious answer.
Obviously, when you're on a GLP-1, the hunger is quieted. It's just not as loud. The food noise isn't as loud, which is what helps make it easier to lose weight. Since coming off the GLP-1, I've definitely had some rebound like food noise. And it's been intense. And honestly, I would say like the first month that I was off the GLP-1 is probably when it was the worst. It's kind of leveled out to an extent since then, but obviously since I've gotten pregnant, now I'm having like pregnancy cravings, and that's a whole different beast. But yeah, definitely my hunger and food noise and all that has come back like tenfold since coming off a GLP-1. And actually I had seen something talking about how women who were on a GLP-1 and then get pregnant actually gain like significantly more weight than women who've never been on a GLP-1. And so, I thought that was interesting. And unfortunately, I I feel like I'm going to just be part of that statistic because I mean, yeah, it makes sense. Like you're on a GLP-1, your hunger's being suppressed, and then you come off of it when you get pregnant, and now you're dealing with the repercussions of stopping the GLP-1 plus also pregnancy cravings and hunger, which honestly, one thing I've noticed with this pregnancy, especially in the first like couple weeks, like in the very beginning, um I noticed my hunger has been like super incredibly like I'm insatiable. And I I don't remember necessarily feeling that way with Aubrey when I was pregnant with her. But then again, maybe I'm just forgetting. But yeah, I just feel like I've noticed like definitely an increase in like hunger.
And the next question, were your cravings more intense than expected?
Yes, most definitely. I feel like I've been having, like I said, just more intense hunger and cravings this go around. Next question, what are your biggest cravings in the first trimester? Um honestly, I would say probably just a lot of junk food. Um cereal has been slapping lately, specifically Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Um yeah, lots of sweets. I feel like I've been craving a lot of sweets this pregnancy.
And um just a lot of junk food. Like honestly, nothing really sounds appealing, you know, like when it comes to like cooking or having to make meals, like I never really feel like it. Nothing really sounds good or worth cooking. So, I'm just finding myself going for a lot of convenience foods, which has made it kind of difficult to try and slow the weight gain, which I've kind of been sharing that here with you guys for the past couple weeks, you know, my attempts at basically trying to eat at maintenance and slow or stop gaining weight um since I've already gained so much. And yeah, it's been a struggle for sure.
So, next we are going to be whipping up some frosting. I have made homemade frosting in the past, and it does taste good when you use homemade frosting.
However, it's not as like it's not as shelf stable as the canned kind. And so, since I'm going to be decorating the cake today and leaving it to sit out overnight at room temperature, I just don't want the icing to melt. So, I thought it'd be easier to work with canned. Um whenever I do get canned whipped cream, I always like to get the whipped variety. Um doesn't really matter what brand, but yeah, I usually look for the whipped kind. And then there is a little hack I like to do with it. We're just going to start by adding all of these cans of whipped cream into our mixing bowl.
>> [music] [music] >> So, this is about 1 2 3 4 5 cans of whipped cream. I do have one extra can that I'm just going to set aside. I'm hoping this will be enough. Honestly, I like to have more on hand just because it's better to have more and not need it versus not have enough and need more.
So, what I like to do with canned whipped cream or pre-made whipped cream is I like to blend it up with my stand mixer. I just put on the paddle attachment, and then I put it on high for like about 2 minutes.
Okay, and this is what it's looking like after about 2 minutes.
So, you can just see how different the texture is. It's much more smooth and just easier to work with. You also could totally add a stick of butter into this if you wanted to. That can also make it taste a little bit more homemade. Um but yeah, so I did just pick out a white icing because I'm going to be using some food coloring. Um so, I'll be using So, I will be using red as well as a black um for my design for this cake for decorating. Before we get to decorating, I'm actually going to do a crumb coat, which is basically where you just put your cake together and then do a very thin layer of icing all around it to kind of seal in any crumbs, and then you stick it in the fridge or freezer for like 30 minutes to let it harden up a little bit. And that just makes it a lot easier to decorate.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> So, when it comes to fixing the top side of an un leveled cake, this tool comes in very handy. It basically has >> [music] >> just a wire across that you can adjust the height of [music] and it makes it really easy to basically just go straight across and level out your cakes. So, that's what I'm going to be doing now.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, moving on to some more questions. So, the next question says, "How do you feel about weight gain after being on a GLP-1?" So, I have been pretty open with you guys about my struggle with regain since coming off of my GLP-1. Um it's been honestly really hard for me, you know, mentally, um just seeing the number on the scale go up and seeing the changes in my body. It's honestly just been it's been really hard. Um I feel like, you know, I worked really really hard to get the 150 lb off. And so, naturally seeing a lot of it I won't say a lot of it. Seeing some of it come back on is scary. And it really Yeah, it has been really hard. I feel like since coming off the GLP-1, it's kind of just been a reminder of just how easy it is to regain weight. Um you know, I was on the GLP-1 for 2 years and so I feel like during that time it's like I almost forgot what it was really like trying to lose weight or maintain weight even just naturally. You know, it it really is so much harder to do that naturally without the help of a GLP-1. Not saying it's impossible because I don't believe it's impossible to lose weight naturally, but I mean to be quite honest and fair, like it is definitely so much harder and takes so much more like willpower and I don't know. I feel like after being on a weight loss journey for 2 years, it's not that I didn't have willpower. I feel like I was just at that point kind of more so relying on the habits that I had created, which was a good thing, but then whenever the weight started to come back on and I realized some of the habits that I had were not conducive to me continuing to lose weight. And then also, you know, once I got pregnant, obviously things changed again and now it's like, okay, I really shouldn't be trying to lose weight because I am pregnant now, so it's like, how do I shift gears into maintenance? Like I've never gone any like long period of time in my adult life maintaining my weight.
I feel like I've always either been actively gaining weight or actively on a weight loss journey.
Um so it's definitely just been really difficult trying to navigate life and trying to figure out how to like not regain too much weight, but also accepting the fact that I am pregnant and with pregnancy comes weight gain for most people. Next question says, are you tracking weight during pregnancy or avoiding it? Um so I have been weighing myself, not consistently.
I feel like there's some weeks where I'm like actively going to the gym or, you know, trying to anyways and trying to eat and track my calories and stuff and on those weeks I do find myself weighing more so like on a daily basis just because I want to see the number on the scale go down essentially and then on the weeks where I am completely off track, I tend to just avoid the scale and I'm not weighing at all. Um like to be quite frank with you guys, this week has been really chaotic. We've just had a lot going on. Um And then, you know, ending the week with my birth or with my husband's birthday stuff and then we're having our gender reveal like little get-together next week. So I'm also having to like plan for that and stuff and so like I feel like these past like couple weeks have just been really hard and I haven't been really tracking anything to be quite honest with you all. So next question has your mindset around body image changed? Dang, chat. I feel like chat is getting all up in the personal questions. Um So body image, yeah, I feel like I definitely have had a change in my body image, for sure.
Obviously that happens with weight gain and weight loss, you know.
Um your body changes and it can take a while to adjust to the changes.
And I feel like I don't know. Some days I feel massive.
Like some days I feel like just a huge like I'm basically back at my highest weight ever. Like right? Some days I feel like I'm that 340-lb girl that I once was.
Um And some days I feel okay with myself. You know, some days I'm like, okay, like yes, you've gained some weight, but you're still 100 lbs down from where you were at your heaviest and you're pregnant, right? So like not all is lost. Um it's just kind of a day-by-day thing, but yeah, basically gaining weight is really hard on like my mental and on my body image and like I said, most days I lately have been just feeling like a bleached whale.
Next question, what's been the biggest mental adjustment?
Um I guess like it's talking about in regards to weight gain.
So I guess the biggest mental adjustment has been like I kind of talked about earlier, just trying to accept the fact that, you know, I am pregnant right now and like I'm going to gain some weight, you know, and trying to be okay with that even though it's really hard.
You know, I I remember when I was pregnant with >> [sighs] >> my daughter Aubrey, you know, I was like 280-ish whenever I got pregnant with her and I was in the middle of like a weight loss journey and you know, I remember like gaining weight was honestly like the scariest thing to me when I first found out I was pregnant. I was like terrified of the weight gain that I was potentially going to have and like I said, I went on to gain 70 lbs, so that was, you know, a valid fear. Um And I feel like this time around, it's a little different. I mean, whenever I was first trying, you know, when we first started trying to conceive, yes, I had regained like 20 lbs or whatever from my lowest, but I was still at a weight where I felt pretty comfortable.
Um since now continuing to gain and being where I am currently at, you know, I'm definitely at a place where I feel like, okay, if I don't gain any more weight or if I just gain like very minimal weight for the rest of this pregnancy, that would be amazing. Um but yeah, I just kind of having to wrap my brain around the fact that, you know, like as hard as I try to not gain a ton of weight during this pregnancy, some of it is just like out of my control, honestly. And when it comes to pregnancy, there's so much going on with hormones and swelling and then the baby, like there's so much of it that is out of your control when it comes to your weight when you're pregnant. Like you just kind of have to learn to release that desire to be like super strict and in control in a sense and kind of just, you know, not totally like throw everything three sheets to the wind, but try not to like freak out whenever the weight gain does happen.
All right, friends. So we got our crumb cake situated. I put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
And then I did go ahead and mix up my red and black icing.
I am going to go ahead and start the decorating process, which I'm a little nervous about. I feel like decorating is always like the most nerve-wracking part cuz it's easier to mess up the decorating, but um yeah, but let's go ahead and move right along with these questions. So, did stopping the GLP-1 affect your mood or anxiety? And I thought this was actually a pretty interesting question.
So, I don't know if there's been like I don't know if there's been studies, but I've heard of people talking about how being on a GLP-1 has like benefited their mental health as far as like helping with anxiety and stuff like that. I feel like for me, when I was on the GLP-1, not having the food noise is probably what led me to feel a little bit less anxiety throughout the day cuz I definitely have noticed like since coming off my GLP-1, you know, and having to deal with the food noise again, like it can be really anxiety-producing to have to think about what am I going to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Like, you know, I feel like when I was on the GLP-1, I didn't have that. And granted, I also did stop my Wellbutrin and my antidepressant at the same time that I came off my GLP-1, so it's hard to say if the increased anxiety and stuff is due solely to coming off the GLP-1 or if it's also because I, you know, stopped my mental health medication. Next question, do you ever miss being on a GLP-1? Um absolutely, 100%. I honestly am so looking forward to the day when I can be back on my GLP-1. Like when I tell you guys, it has been hell.
>> [laughter] >> I am not exaggerating.
Um coming off of a GLP-1 has definitely given me a whole new found appreciation for the medication.
It's seriously a miracle drug that honestly just made such a massive impact in my life, in my health journey.
And yeah, I I deeply miss being on a GLP-1.
All right, so next question, what's been easier than you expected?
Um so I would say probably getting pregnant. Um you know, like I said, I mean I do have PCOS and so I was fully preparing myself mentally to like for it to take a little while.
Um And so yeah, that definitely was probably the easiest part of this process um was just the whole like actually getting pregnant. Next question, what has been harder than you expected? So I think definitely what's been harder in this whole pregnancy so far has probably just been the adjustment of my mindset and trying to get out of the mindset of weight loss and into the mindset of just trying to live my life and have a happy and healthy pregnancy.
Um trying to get out of that mindset of needing to eat in a calorie deficit and trying to change my mindset to I am trying to grow a human being and I need to fuel my body properly to do so.
Next question, would you do anything differently?
Um honestly, I have to say no. At this point in my life, I am 30 years old and I I realized being on a weight loss journey and then taking a break before getting to your goal weight to go through pregnancy is like probably not something most people would opt to do.
But for me, I feel like this was the timing that just made the most sense um for what I want for me and my family.
You know, I've talked about how my daughter is turning three in September and so I really wanted her to have a sibling with a close enough age gap that they could grow up together and enjoy each other. Um and unfortunately, when I started my weight loss journey at over 340 lb, it was going to take a few years for me to get to my ultimate goal weight, which is like around 130, somewhere in the 130s, you know, I'm only 5'3 and so I've shared in the past that my goal weight for this journey has been like in the 130s.
Um and so that's like over 200 lb that I needed to lose at my heaviest and I mean, yeah, like it it was going to take some time, but I knew that I wasn't done growing my family either.
And so I set out to do what I could and I did make a good chunk dent in it, you know, I got 150 lb off and then I had to kind of press pause and yes, we've put on almost 50 lb since then and I don't know where I'll be at the end of this pregnancy. Um hopefully, you know, my goal at this point is I would really love to just stay under 250 lb by the time I have this baby. Like I would be happy with that. I feel like from there, I could definitely see myself getting back on my GLP-1 and finishing the job that I started over 2 years ago now. Um but yeah, in the meantime though, this is where we're at. Weight loss is on pause. I would not change it for anything. I yeah, this is what I want to be doing right now. So last question, you guys, what do you wish you knew before getting pregnant on a GLP-1? Honestly, I'd say probably just how crazy the food noise and hunger would be. It might have been nice to kind of have more of an idea of what I was getting myself into in regards to that. I don't think it would really change anything. It wouldn't change my decision to pursue pregnancy right now or anything like that, but um yeah, that was probably just something I was not really necessarily mentally or physically prepared for. But like I said, regardless of all of that, I am happy to be pregnant and I look forward to meeting this baby in October and honestly, I feel like this might be my last baby and that also just makes this whole experience more special and I'm trying to enjoy it and kind of take it all in because I at this point don't really see myself being pregnant again.
Um I kind of want to close this chapter and get back to being able to focus on myself and my health.
Obviously also focusing on my children and family, but you know, once this baby's out and I am fully recovered, we are all systems go, baby. We are getting back on track. We are finishing what we started and yeah, we are going to get into our milf dream bod. It's going to happen. Just got to get done pushing these babies out. So anyways, um I'm going to go ahead and wrap the vlog up here. Uh if you made it this far, let me know. Leave whatever emoji I decide to put over here in the comments section and as always, you guys, I genuinely appreciate y'all so much for watching. I will see y'all in my next one.
