I Found EVERY Rattlesnake in Phoenix - Here They Are (Full Guide)
Added:Most people in Phoenix think there's just one kind of rattlesnake out here, but that's not even close. There are actually multiple completely different species living right here in Maricopa County. And today, we're going to figure out exactly how many, and I'm going to show you every single one. Some of these are common, some are rarely seen, and a couple might just surprise you. Now, let's go out and look at each of these amazing species of rattlesnakes. first right here. This is the rattlesnake most people in Phoenix are thinking of. The western diamondback rattlesnake is by far the most commonly seen species here.
They're big, impressive, but also responsible for more rattlesnake bites than any other rattlesnake in the area.
But this isn't even the most dangerous species out here. This one is where things get serious. The Mojave rattlesnake. The Mojave rattlesnake has one of the most potent venoms of any rattlesnake in the United States.
And the scary part is it can look very similar to a diamondback. Next is the Sidewinder. This one doesn't even look like a normal rattlesnake. The Sidewinder gets his name from the way it moves sideways across the ground.
And it's perfectly adapted to the desert. You'll almost never see this one unless you're really looking.
>> There we go. The blacktailed rattlesnake is one of the most underrated rattlesnakes in Arizona.
It's usually found in the more rocky and mountainous areas.
And compared to most other rattlesnakes, they're actually known for being fairly calm. The next rattlesnake looks completely different from anything you'd expect. The tiger rattlesnake just might be the most unique-l lookinging rattlesnake in the entire state. It has a small head, bold banding, and a totally different body shape than many other rattlesnakes.
Its venom is extremely potent for its size.
And we're still not done yet. There are a couple more species that almost no one ever sees. The speckled rattlesnake can disappear almost right in front of you.
Its body and coloration blends perfectly in the rocky desert terrain.
And unless it moves, you might walk right past it without ever even knowing.
And the last species is one that really surprises people. The Arizona black rattlesnake is one of the most fascinating rattlesnakes in Arizona.
It's actually known to change color depending on the temperature and the environment.
This rattlesnake is usually found in higher elevations in the northeast portions of Maricopa County.
And like any rattlesnake, they're best left alone and given space. So when you add it all up, there are seven different species of rattlesnake living right here in the Phoenix area. And that's exactly why I made this. This poster shows all seven species you can actually find in Maricopa County. You can grab your own copy in the link below. And if you actually want to find these rattlesnakes in the wild, go ahead and watch this video right here.
