[00:02:19]And hello Nolan. Nolan was sporting the only convention t-shirt to have. Okay, so we're going to talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly at convention. I don't have a script at all. I'm just going to be or even an outline. We are just going to be going free form. Okay, I I have multiple things I'd like to cover and things that you guys might want to cover.

[00:02:50]So, we've seen a lot if you're on Twitter about how the convention went and most of it of what I saw from people who aren't even in the LP. And it's like I don't know like if I had a family gathering and completely unrelated neighbors up the street decided they had opinions. I really don't care. They're not people. They oh this is why I don't join the Libertarian Party. No, it isn't. And if that's the reason why you won't join the Libertarian Party, the Libertarian Party is probably not a good fit. So you kept hearing like, "Oh, it was this freak show, but they really can't give any examples." [snorts] You heard about some incidents when you have a group of it. This the party's been pretty tense. You're going to have things like that, but the whole dress code brewhaha was just stupid. It was just stupid. So, and now you were hearing, "Oh, there it was a furry convention." I don't know about you.

[00:04:01]Okay. I was on one side of the room.

[00:04:02]Maybe I missed what was going on on the other. I don't think so. Did anyone see one furry there or are these people just lying? I already know the answer to that. They're lying. Okay. Of course, Starchild was Starchild and wore his typical flamboyant outfits. So you got one person and it's always just one person and you look at RNC and DNC conventions and there's always a few and then there were a few people who were wearing I don't even want to call them flags cuz they're banners maybe but cuz it wasn't like American flags but like banners as capes and that was about it. It was pretty tame.

[00:04:51]Most people were dressed very very nicely. So that was what that was was just an attention whoring job. It was a non-issue. It's like how can you be against the dress code? It's because it's a a non-issue and the LNC didn't have the authority. But a complete non-issue. Oh, Chuck brought up something that I didn't see, but but remember the dress code thing was for only during convention business, not during any other time. So, Chuck brought up that Evan dressed up as a chicken during the gayla. I wasn't at the gayla as a fun uh fundraising incentive and Amanda brought a kangaroo suit so she could fight. Now, that's awesome. But none of that was during business.

[00:05:38]Though, I would have liked to have seen Amanda in a kangaroo suit um during business. Okay. Mike. Mike was a freak.

[00:05:44]He wore his tie-dye. No, I'm just joking. Mike was very well-dressed in his tie-dye. No one mentions he wears he wore a kilt. Kilts are perfectly acceptable dress for men. As far as I'm concerned, it's it's very historical and whatever. So, that that that turned out to be a non-issue. There were some dramatics.

[00:06:08]I let's let's back up on that a minute.

[00:06:12]So, as you all know from various shows, I want to get this out of the way. First and foremost, I had beef with Steven Na. Steven Na has since apologized to me and that is over.

[00:06:28]And that's all I'm going to say about that because when I accept somebody's apology, it is in the past and it is over. So, just wanted to get that out there if anyone's surprised.

[00:06:39]So, when I went into the convention, and some of this could have been because I had beef with Nika and I had maybe not the most objective view. I did not expect him to chair the convention well.

[00:06:54]And I'm going to tell you, I thought he chaired the convention well, but I am going to have some critique that I think he would agree with and would love to hear yours. Where I think he did what very well is where he really needed to.

[00:07:07]And he had an excellent parliamentarian there. Um, uh, Mr. Whitaker uh, was there David Whitaker.

[00:07:17]So, uh, before we move on from the dress code, uh, HVAC soldier said, "Well, I don't support a dress code. I do think if you're seeking a leadership position or a candidate, you should dress nicely.

[00:07:29]Wouldn't make it mandatory." Yeah. And I think the delegates take that into consideration, and I wouldn't disagree with that. Except for the last day.

[00:07:37]Every single day, I wore a suit. Why didn't I on the last day? It was kind of a protest. And I ran out of panty hoes.

[00:07:46][laughter] I didn't bring enough panty hoes.

[00:07:50]And Chuck brought up what is going to be what most of this show is about. That Chuck said Steve did okay during convention, but he should have reigned in the Pat Ford convention schedule. And that's what we're going to talk about.

[00:08:01]So, let me tell you what I thought Steve did extraordinarily well at. There was some fireworks because there were people there and let's be honest from the mostly from the New Hampshire delegation who were just there to cause trouble.

[00:08:15]And I think Steve did an excellent job of rening that in. I also think he did an excellent job, which hadn't been done before since Nick, of telling people that their points of privilege and points of information are not interrupting motions and you don't get to jump ahead in line of other people. I think he did extremely well at that. I hope that sets precedent for the future because that is what sucks up a great deal of time where I besides the convention schedule that's going to be a whole other thing where I think things could have been improved and actually count Martin from California brought this up several times but I understand it he it's flustering up there and when um I had went up with Lana and when I was standing over to the side there's a mistake that was made in DC that they did not learn from there.

[00:09:18]If they had monitors on the stage, they were horrible. You could even standing on the side there like when people were waiting to go up, you could not hear a thing. So now knowing the environment that Steve was in, he did even better than I thought. You could not hear up there.

[00:09:41]Honestly, I know this is going to sound a little weird.

[00:09:46]I don't care. The the chair and the secretary, they need an air mic that's plugged into the But I know then you hear yourself talk and it gets weird, but they need something where they can hear. I am going to be really surprised if these convention minutes are good. It has nothing to do with Evan's ability.

[00:10:07]hearing up there was terrible and the YouTube stream was cutting in and out.

[00:10:12]So, if he's depending upon the YouTube stream, oh no, sucks to be him if he's depending upon the YouTube stream. I hope he did the way I do is brought his own recorder that he had set next to it.

[00:10:26]But again, the the acoustics up there were so bad, I don't even know how well that would help him. I would suggest for future secretaries, this is lessons learned, that you have someone out in the audience that also has a personal recorder, maybe several people, because again, that's going to be a very, very difficult convention to do really good minutes for. And I'm saying that as if if I were secretary, I would have a difficult time doing very good minutes for that convention. So that's just being fair there. So where Steve I I think could have really improved is what Cat Martin asked him to do. He didn't put the questions properly. And what do I mean by that? It gets tedious, but you go the question is on this and you restate the question and then you say, so let's just do the question is on the let's do a a simple motion that there was a the one that's always used in Roberts is to you know re repaint the headquarters and someone moves to repaint the headquarters green and someone moves to strike out green and insert pink and that would be me. And then that's the immediately pending question and there's no more debate and and the way the chair should do it is we are now going to vote on the amendment. The the question is on the amendment. The amendment is to strike out green and insert pink. If the amendment passes, the main motion will then read to paint the headquarters pink. If it fails, the main motion will be to paint the headquarters green. You need to explain that each step.

[00:12:20]Sometimes not quite so tediously, but you have to do that to a certain extent.

[00:12:26]And a lot of times people did not know what they were voting on. There were times I didn't know what we were voting on. And of course, I got distracted sometimes and kept my thing raised for nos when I was a yes. But that's my own fault. But there were times I didn't it and I can follow this stuff. I don't need to have it spoonfed to me and I did not know that what what some of the questions were and Joe Joe is saying well we'd have to buy a headquarters first. True. That was just an example.

[00:13:03]So on that and I think Steve would would concede that that needed improvement. In fact, he told Ms. Martin several times that that needed um improvement.

[00:13:18]So as far as disruptions, I think Steve handled that very well. Then there was the issue of the violence that happened outside for those who are curious. Not that I would have objected to the party uh calling law enforcement. When libertarians start saying, "How dare you get the cops involved?" So, in a society in which the state has monopolized rights enforcement, you're saying basically someone who's a victim of violence should have no recourse because we don't. No, that's not how it works. I would have had no problem if the party called the police, but the party did not. it was the hotel that called the police on that particular instance. And people can argue about whether or not, you know, whether or not you could steal free literature or there's some implied restrictions that you can't take a whole stack. I think it's pretty indisputed that she took a whole stack. There's a picture.

[00:14:27]If you're a strapping young man, you don't slap a woman in the face over a stack of literature. You you you you just don't. And if you're defending that, you have really really lost your way. If you're getting into so deep into libertarian theory, well, it's property theft that your head's up your ass. I'm just going to say it. Your head's up your ass. And if you're also going to go, oh, so men and women are treated differently on That to me is just such a a dumb question.

[00:15:04]This when somebody is physically stronger, yes, there is a power imbalance. We recognize power imbalances. And yes, no, men should not hit women. Sorry if you think that's a a a a libertarian issue, unless she's like she's striking you. If if you want to defend that, if you want to go down the route that you become so entrenched in theory that you argue that parents do not have to feed their infants the way Rothbart did, and I like Rothbart, but that's when he just went Lulu. You can go absolutely Lulu and into libertarian um uh dystopia. So that was taken care of. the disruptions on the floor were taken care of. Now, did Steve handle it in perfect parliamentary procedure? No, he did not.

[00:16:04]As a member, not speaking as a parliamentarian, as a member, I had no problem with what he did, though.

[00:16:09]Really, he shouldn't have just summarily had anyone escorted out of the room.

[00:16:15]There should have been a vote of the body, but you know, sometimes, and I'm saying this as a member while conceding, it might not have had all the eye eyes dotted and the tees crossed. I'm glad he handled it the way he handled it. And if the body didn't like it, they could have done a motion to vacate the chair, which they did not. So, here we go.

[00:16:41]Now, let's talk about let's talk about the Harambe in the room, shall we?

[00:16:47]That is and I am going to name names here cuz I don't care. Pat Ford as convention oversight committee chair completely sabotaged this convention.

[00:16:58]Now, am I going to speculate an end?

[00:17:03]Like, why? No, I can't mind readad people. All I know is the facts. I already did with two shows on this warned how it was going to be a disaster with convention business and in fact it was it and Steve did mess up and not reigning that in. We had a phone call and he said he would and he did not.

[00:17:26]Maybe there were other factors there. He didn't have the support of the LC. I don't know what they are. All I know is that it didn't happen.

[00:17:34]It was absolutely obscene and he should never be COC chair again to deprioritize business in that way. A keynote is special. It's not 15 different people.

[00:17:49]You don't also have it during convention business. Some people go to conventions to hear speakers and have special lunches and have special trainings and that is fine. You pay for that. That is outside of convention business. You do not do that during convention business.

[00:18:07]Even though I loved some of the speakers, Rebecca Whiting of Minnesota had a fantastic speech on Memorial Day.

[00:18:16]It was very, very moving. Justin Amash had a fantastic speech. But that is not during business time. You do not schedule that to take away business. The National Party in the bylaws has very few jobs and one of them is to put on a business convention, not a convention of goddamn speakers. And I don't say that with disrespect to the speakers. I am so pissed. Now I'm riing myself up. Going to these things are expensive. I'm not at a time where I have money to burn. So, I don't know.

[00:18:58]Going there for Wayne and I, if I had to add up everything, it was probably like three grand. And I feel freaking ripped off. I didn't buy convention tickets because I didn't go there to hear speakers. I did not go there to hear speakers. I went there to do business.

[00:19:14]Somebody I wish you I if you would do a calculation of how much time we actually spent on business starting with a 10:00 a.m. start time on Friday. [ __ ] you, Pat Ford. We should have started at 9:00 a.m. What the hell was that? 2hour lunches.

[00:19:34]What? That and and like I said, was I right? What was the 10:00 a.m. start time on Friday? When did we actually start? I think it was 10:15.

[00:19:45]I mean, no. 11:15, maybe a little bit earlier. Libertarians never start on time. 10:00 a.m. start time. When did 2hour lunches and when did we actually start that first day after a 2-hour lunch? It was like 2 and 1/2 hours. And then after lunch, after 2-hour lunch where people went who wanted to go hear speakers, what did we have? Another speaker. That is not what the convention is for. You had committees who worked their ass off, the bylaws committee, the platform committee who didn't even get heard. It is it is ridiculous. He shhat all over those committees, those volunteers, and then nomination speeches get cut short. That is a disservice to the candidates. Do not blame the delegates for doing that because we wouldn't have gotten through business.

[00:20:46]I'm now getting completely opposed to like lunch speakers and stuff like this because this has just been so taken advantage of. I will give some credit for when they I still don't believe in having speakers during business, but at least on Monday they had it while tabulation was going on with the tellers, but that still should not be speaker time. You want to know why?

[00:21:11]Because our standing rule says what continues while the tellers are working business, not speakers. God damn it, this convention was [ __ ] up in that regard. And I'm not going to excuse my French. I am pissed off.

[00:21:28]You added an extra day and instead of using that to make sure all of our business got done, you just decided that that was cart blanch to shove in speakers at every single opportunity.

[00:21:41]And again, no disrespect to the speakers. And somebody noted here in chat, cuz this is a damn shame. the YouTube feed cut out during Rebecca Whiting's speech and so there's no recording. She gave this fantastic speech that was from her heart, you know, and there's no recording of it. And I feel bad like compl complaining about like not doing business because I don't want I'm not disrespecting the speakers.

[00:22:12]It's not their fault. They're talented.

[00:22:14]Whatever. This is the convention planner's fault. And who was the chair of the COC? It was Pat Ford. This absolutely obscenely ridiculous. Now, could the delegates have taken back the schedule? They could have and they chose not to. So you I mean Pat would have that in his defense, but the fact is having the schedule already that way prejudices it in your favor.

[00:22:41]Delegates don't like doing that because they feel like they're being disrespectful to speakers who already came out there and, you know, money that had had already been spent. But we ended up having to stay late on Sunday and Monday was never supposed to be a scheduled business day. It was supposed to be overflow, but because they decided they were going to start late and they were going to do this and do that. None of which is the role of the LNC. It's not saying they can't do it, but their job, you had one job is to put on a business convention. You just decided you're going to roll platform and everything onto there. And what happened? It didn't get to. Pat Ford should write a personal apology to everyone on the platform committee and the bylaws committee because we couldn't get through all of the bylaws.

[00:23:32]Absolutely [ __ ] ridiculous. And I'm tired of it. Absolutely tired of it.

[00:23:37]That should not happen again at all.

[00:23:43]maybe have one keynote during convention such as what Justin Amash that's what he did and some of the speakers and again I'm not going I'm not ragging on the speakers but those went overtime they always go overtime you know that when you're a convention [clears throat] planner and you plan for that sticking them during business somebody please though let let's just kind of just calculate in our head how many hours of business we did in a four 3 and 1/2 day long convention. So on Friday, I think maybe we had an hour before lunch maybe. When did we adjourn for Friday? Was it at 5? So we didn't get started till about 2:30. So we had about an hour in the morning and 2 and 1/2 hours in the afternoon.

[00:24:39]Let's be generous and said we did four hours of business on a full day. We did four hours of business. I did not fly my ass all the way out to Grand Rapids for that patboard.

[00:24:52]I did not. You You failed at your job and the convention lost money. I am positive. Do I know that for sure? I'm not in the LNC, thank God.

[00:25:05]But I think it lost money. To go back to my prediction, if you remember from before, I was optimistic.

[00:25:13]I said we were going to have 600 and a lot of people wrote me and told me, "No, you're being a Debbie Downer. Your your uh your calculations are just they're off base." Okay, I've been proven right.

[00:25:27]I actually was optimistic. I said we were going to have 650 delegates. We had under. We had under. I this isn't my first rodeo. I know how these things go.

[00:25:42]I don't think that's going to be happen in in 2028. Now, of course, a lot of things can happen between now and then.

[00:25:49]I think we're going to be back to having over a thousand or close to a thousand in in 2028, but offy-ear conventions are tough. And with everything that went on, I guess I was being generous with 650.

[00:26:04]Still not as bad as Portland. I think Portland, what was I think Portland had 400 people. I don't know. We'd have to go look at the minutes. Portland was bad.

[00:26:14]That's the Portland massacre was at 2006.

[00:26:20]So on Saturday, how much business we did we do? Well, we had a a chair debate that went long and started late. When did we start when did we actually start business on Saturday? Does anyone remember? 9. I think we started around 11.

[00:26:37]Let's just say that. And because I'll add some time at the end. Then we uh broke for 2 hours.

[00:26:46]We started more on time.

[00:26:49]So, let's just pretend we started at 2.

[00:26:52]I think it was really like 2:15, but let's just be generous. And then we broke. We adjourned again at 5. 4 hours again on another day of full business.

[00:27:05]The chair debate should not be during business time. That's not in the standing conventuals. Now, it really wasn't business time. Okay. Well, let me back up. They didn't call to order to after. So, it wasn't during business time. So, we actually started late again on Saturday.

[00:27:24]So, another So, we've gone through now two full days of business and did four hours each day. two full days of scheduled business and only did one day of it. And you don't think you're that somebody that that is it's insane.

[00:27:41]Sunday, we got more done only because they decided to stay late. Did I think we started on time on Sunday, didn't we?

[00:27:49]What time did it start? Let's say 9. So, Sunday, I think, was the most productive day. So Sunday we went 9 to to noon 3 and what time did we adjourn? So Sunday we let's just say we had a full day of business and maybe an hour more. So So Sunday we probably had 8 to nine hours of business. So that's what each that's what Friday and Saturday should have been. And then we would have needed Monday and Monday we didn't even get to platform. Now, some people who weren't there, and not only weren't there, don't understand how these things go. We're like, "Oh, they were arguing about lunch for whatever." We were arguing about doing more business because of the [ __ ] up of the convention schedule. No, that wasn't a ridiculous argument. It was an argument where we actually wanted to be productive and some people didn't.

[00:28:46]It we ended up just adjourning. That that that's fine. I mean, that that's what happened. And I mean it's not fine for the platform committee, but that's what ended up happening. So there also was a controversy on some resolutions that did not get passed because it's not that they failed, it's that the convention decided they weren't going to take them up because we already got screwed out of business. And one of those was a resolution that Ian Freeman should be freed, that he's unjustly imprisoned. I don't think there's I mean there's always a couple, you know, people who are contrarians, but I would say the vast vast majority of people in that room were in favor of that. They didn't take it up because we were screwed on the convention schedule.

[00:29:34]And where that should have been taken up, which is during the resolutions period, we were never going to get there with the way that schedule was never going to get there. So Pat Ford, I guess, just decided, you know, it's not important to, you know, we get together every two years. We're here to do business, but I'm just going to I'm just going to fill it up with speakers, and you're not going to get to things that you're entitled to do where the party comes together and make statements.

[00:30:02]Instead, you got to try to suspend the rules to do that. And we shouldn't have so many suspensions of the rules. But why do we? because everyone knows damn well the way that schedule was arranged.

[00:30:12]We weren't going to get to it at its proper time. We should have been assured we're going to have a period of time for resolutions. Period. People don't need to try to suspend the rules. So, we sent this message and it's not a correct message because people, you know, didn't understandly what was going on that we don't support freeing Ian Freeman when in fact we actually do.

[00:30:37]Now, let me tell you another failure.

[00:30:39]Now, I don't know if this is a failure of the COC or of the venue, a combination of both, lack of planning, and some of it could be a little bit of my faulty memory cuz I've wiped a lot of this LNC stuff out of my head. But back when we were deciding on Grand Rapids, and that was a it was a nice venue, and the hotel was nice and all of that. One thing that we brought up as an LNC when there were three locations pitching, one of them was Denver actually.

[00:31:15]I don't remember what the other one was.

[00:31:17]What was the other one? It doesn't really matter. I think it was a Texas one and we ended up picking Grand Rapids. But one of the concerns we had was in was it DC that the hotel restaurants closed earlier? There was various ones because I think this has happened multiple times and that we have libertarians who like to drink and eat and could they assure that their restaurants would have extended hours. Now, anyone who was there knows there was a problem. You had to leave the site. That really nice hotel like lounge area that had restaurants and a bar, they closed early and they opened late and Did nobody follow up on that? Because that was one of our requirements. Now, if I remember correctly from that LNC meeting, we were told by the venue reps that there was either local ordinances or union or something that they couldn't guarantee they would stay open later, but that they would open earlier, and they did not. There was really no selections in the restaurant to have lunch. There wasn't that. I mean, you had that like little breakfast place, but not you you want like an actual full menu.

[00:32:38]And then on Memorial Day, I listen, maybe Grand Rapids is more I don't even know if patriotic is the word. I could not believe how many restaurants were closed for Memorial Day in Grand Rapids. That [ __ ] don't happen in Colorado. you want to go out to eat on Memorial Day here, you're not going to have any problems. I mean, you might you're going to have problems on Thanksgiving and Christmas. You're not going to have problems on Memorial Day.

[00:33:06]That was insane. Absolutely insane. And did the convention oversight committee for the restaurants that were obvious choices like I don't know if it was like a it was kind of like a pizza type place where we went to lunch the first day.

[00:33:20]The line there was two people working there. The line was incredible. It it it took forever. Did the COC not write these local businesses and say we're going to have well they expected you know a thousand hungry libertarians who during the period of time between noon and 2:00 are going to come swarming out of the convention center and you know you might want to step up now maybe they did and these local business owners just ignored it. They weren't chains. I could see a chain ignoring it. But if you're a local business owner and you know you could get business by saying you're going to be adequately staffed, why didn't the convention oversight committee say, "Look, if you promise that you're going to be adequately staffed, we're going to say to people, hey, you know, we heard from such and such and such and such a local business, if you didn't buy a package, they're going to be adequately staffed. They're up the street." What? This is common sense. And none of the places were. Now, I think this is also somewhat on the local business owners. If you have a business that's by a convention center, if I own the business, I would get a schedule from that convention center and know when all the conventions were in town and try to find out like when their lunch breaks were, if you know, everyone was required to buy a a meal ticket so that they would be staying on site or if you could expect an exodus because that's a money maker right there. But that was an utter fail as well.

[00:34:55]And the it and the lines for and this isn't the fault of the credential committee or registrations that was absolutely confusing and whatever.

[00:35:08]Now, and here's something Mike will know. I wasn't going to complain about this this time, but those voting cards are not authorized in our standing roles. I like them. They worked well. We should have passed a special rule of order that we were going to use them. Even had some parliamentarians texting me going, "What are you using voting cards for? They're not in your I was just like there's some battle's just not worth fighting anymore."

[00:35:35]Now, when it comes to the elections, I do think for the LNC offices for the most part, people will disagree.

[00:35:51]We we had some really good candidates. I do think we got a good LNC.

[00:35:58]Uh I do think Evan uh was the best chair candidate. People can get mad at me or not. I wasn't sharing who I was voting for, what I was doing until uh afterwards, but I voted for Evan on every round. I didn't decide until I got to convention.

[00:36:21]And let me just though be honest, Evan's also the only one who came up to me and asked me for my vote, but I I I was already going to for for for various reasons.

[00:36:32]And even though I think and Wes was a good candidate, Rob Yates was like, but I think we got the best candidate for the period of time that the party is in right now.

[00:36:46]But here's the thing. We lucked out.

[00:36:51]We all know and this this needs to change, but both both sides, three sides, four sides, whatever it is, all sides have to all agree and actually follow through on the agreement to change. But ever since Reno, it's just been block voting. You vote with whatever faction you're with. Even if you're not officially a member, it's the one you align with more. There isn't breaking ranks. There was a little bit of that at this convention which was hopeful but in general that's the way it was. So I think we lucked out in getting the best candidate but that wasn't guaranteed because people weren't weren't voting necessarily on who they thought was the best candidate. They were voting on what faction they were either in or or agreed with most got behind. We all know that's the truth. No one wants to admit it. I don't care whether you want to admit it or not. It is in fact the case. And some people go and I listen, I did it too because it's suicidal not to when the other sides are doing it. We all sides need to stop that [ __ ] But unless everyone does, you have to defensively do it, too. I wish we would get back.

And I know a lot of people h have had a lot of fun with that picture of Austin Martin grinning at Nick when Nick was trying to make a point. But no, that was not right. I don't care about your your feelings about Nick. He was all up in his space and doing that grinning jacko'lantern thing. You don't do that. That is not respectful. That is outside of decorum and you just don't do that to people.

Well, finally Colorado delegates got up and put a stop to that and then Austin went away. Do I think he knew that Corey was blind? No.

But if you mean like unwanted aggressive bodily contact, but you're talking about between two men. Yes.

They do not give up the podium. You're supposed to have two.

But you how do you really know it only has 20% support when people haven't heard the arguments for both sides? I don't know about you, but I do change my mind when I hear debate. That's the purpose of debate. If if debate isn't there for you to be open-minded about it, then let's just have the questions and never have any debate. It's just an automatic call the question. No, you should be alternating between pros and cons. And I know that makes it difficult, but maybe we need a convention rule that a question cannot be called till there's at least I don't know, I can't think of one, but in a way so that questions get a fair hearing. Yeah, Nathan, you shouldn't have had to have crossed five delegations. We need more microphones or some other way to handle, but hovering at the microphone is not good. It it it does get intimidating to less assertive delegates.

Now of course Amash I think is still a registered Republican. Now, I spoke with Amos back when Mardle uh resigned in shame because I was trying to talk to him to be LP chair at the time and he he was a registered Republican. Explained why he did that, which I understand. He was perfectly willing to switch his registration back um if he was going to throw his hat in the ring for LP chair, which he did not throw his hat in the ring. So, I don't know if he's ever changed his registration back. So, obviously he would do that if he's going to run, but I honestly don't think Amos is going to run. If Amash runs for the LP nomination, I'll be completely behind him. I I I got to know Justin. Um, Justin has Justin is one of those people who when he first joined the party, some of the things he posted on Twitter, I even had videos like critiquing him. It was kind of cringe. Like he didn't really know how to deal with like the anarchists in the party and he had some really hot takes that he didn't like even though Oh, Donnie.

But grift grift isn't illegal. It might be gross, but it's not illegal.

All I'm going to say is they were rightfully disaffiliated.

So, I want to bring up here the nasty rumor mill that has gone out about Evan. So they have brought up that was it 2003 that he had a criminal a serious criminal conviction if I remember which I won't but if I remember I will stick his public response to that in the show notes.

[01:15:38]Somebody remind me. It is very good. He owned it and has used that experience as lifech changing and I find it pretty like gross the way people are still going after him on that. Yeah, he did bad things 20 years ago and turned his life around and it actually is it's a it's a good response if if you care to read it. It's on the LNC public list. You could you could search for that. He didn't try to deny it. Then there's the false rumors that he produced gay torture porn. That's not a term I ever thought I'd be using a lot.

[01:16:22]No. What Evan produced was bad horror shorts. He's was very into indie films.

[01:16:32]Went to indie film festivals and things like that. uh by his own statements they were like what you have what a B-grade or probably F-grade just indie horror flicks it's not gay torture porn and then he wore a shirt that some people think was tasteless at an independent um film festival and they they don't recognize the lady he took the picture with which is kind of cool.

[01:17:05]So, not going to repeat what he had on his shirt. It was kind It was pornographic.

[01:17:11]Not my style. I wouldn't have worn it. I could get how some people could think that that that is funny. Um I'm sure like no none of his critics have ever worn a tasteless shirt. I mean, really, that that's that's what you got against them. Okay. But the the lady he took the picture and I'm going to say I don't care for the shirt. Not going to lie.

[01:17:39]He took a picture. The picture is cool because the lady in the picture is the lady from Silence of the Lamb.

[01:17:48]So, people don't recognize her. Well, if you see that picture again, look at it again and you'll go, "Oh my god, she's right. It's the lady who was in the well." So, when Buffalo Bill was, you know, putting the basket down going, "It puts the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again." That's her. That's the actress um who did that. So that in in in that respect is a cool picture. I don't care for the tasteless the tasteless shirt. So what else was there?

[01:18:15]Oh uh they don't like that he was saying to for people to stay home in the beginning of the co thing. He did one post on it. He never advocated for government mandates.

[01:18:34]makes it perfectly understandable. That wasn't the side I was taking. I didn't stay home. I went out and protest. But libertarians are starting to prove to disprove their own alleged principles.

[01:18:51]We say we want voluntary action. We say we don't want the government involved.

[01:18:58]But when people advocate for voluntary things that aren't hurting anyone, if you actually believe that there is some kind of pan pandemic thing that's going to kill people, don't you want people to volunteer to voluntarily stay home? He had a different opinion than you. He did not want to use force.

[01:19:24]So, I guess, you know, opinions on things like that are just unacceptable.

[01:19:29]Okay. I mean, if that if that's the way you want to be, everyone didn't have to share the same opinion as me. And it certainly wasn't racist or bigoted or anything like that.

[01:19:41]So, like the people who agree like the the the New Hampshire edgeelords, oh, that's fine. You could say the only sensible gun control is to not let black people have guns. That's fine. But how dear Evan who's immuno compromised to say that during a pandemic and it was a pandemic.

[01:20:03]Whether you thought it was overblown, you didn't believe in the vaccines.

[01:20:06]Whatever it might be, you didn't believe in the shutdowns. I'm with you. I didn't get vaccinated. I didn't believe in the shutdowns.

[01:20:14]But if people think that others should voluntarily stay home, what? They're not allowed to have that opinion. But it's okay to be racist. I think your priorities are a bit [ __ ] up.

I don't know Evan's personal medical history except for what he said and he has said and I think it's even in that Reason magazine article that he is or was immuno compromised. I will only say what's public but I don't know any any more information privately too but if I did I wouldn't say it cuz that's I don't say people's medical um issues that aren't public but I don't know. I honestly don't know. I only know what was what was public. And you know, get mad at me, but I tend to I think not not anything to do with COVID. If you're feeling sick, you should stay home.

[01:21:52]If there's something going around and not talking about lockdowns or anything like that, you should stay home. Yes, you should try not to get other people sick. Again, it's not a lockdown thing.

[01:22:06]And I don't I I didn't agree with with Evan on that position. I think Evan and I actually had a discussion on that back at the time cuz he thought I was a bit too rambunctious on the LNC um over that issue. Any of you who think I'm soft on that, you need to go back to those past LNC minutes. I I have a clip of one on on my channel actually. So something else that is though being proven I had said there are some people who didn't who objected to Chase Oliver on ideological grounds whatever I have objected to nearly every single LP candidate. I don't mean object in full but I've had problems with every single one of them on ideological grounds. I don't like the fair tax. I don't think that's a libertarian position. Gary Johnson was in favor of the fairy tax. I can think of one with even candidates I like. I'm sure if and I hope he does just an amash runs but I don't think it will. I'm going to have some ideological differences uh with him. But I had become convinced that a good chunk not everyone a good chunk of the people their problem with Chase wasn't wasn't ideological. It was homophobic. They just did not like him because he was gay. And I used to think they didn't like him because Chase is much more of a flamboyant gay person, a much more of expressive gay person. But now I'm beginning to think it isn't just that. That we just have a really big homophobe problem in this party because the way they're going after Evan because he's gay. Evan is not at all expressive or flamboyant. If I didn't know he was gay, I wouldn't know he was gay. If that ma makes sense at all. It's just homophobia. There is a deep-seated homophobia in this party.

[01:24:07]And can you be a libertarian and a homophobe? Yes, you can be.

[01:24:13]However, I don't want to associate with you. And I don't think the party should either. I do think the party needs to have a little bit of thickness to it.

[01:24:22]Libertarianism as a core philosophy is thin, but I think a political party by necessity has to be uh has to be uh thick. Uh so Nath Well, maybe I'm wrong. I just heard that now.

[01:24:45]Now, I Yes, I do believe I think Evan is I think that's public. I think that's common knowledge. If I'm wrong, let me know. Uh, I don't really want I I'm getting very uncomfortable talking about people's um sex life here. Uh just saying that people I do think we have a very very deep-seated um homophobia in this in this party and also from a certain wing. We have a very deep-seated uh misogyny problem as well.

[01:25:32]I've brought that up multiple times. But we've also got a serious homophobia problem.

[01:26:09]Also wanted to bring up as I said reconcile with Steve any assy I had with Steve that's in the past. Also some people have asked me because I got on stage with Lana and I endorsed Lana. Do I have a problem with Jonathan? No. That was a tough one.

[01:26:37]Jonathan is going to be a very good secretary. I think Lana would have been a very good secretary.

[01:26:45]Lana did Lana did something that I thought was very brave at Freedom Fest.

[01:26:51]She went in the back of the room and she held up the embezzlement as theft unfit to serve sign. Other people were supposed to stand with her and they abandoned her and she did it by herself.

[01:27:13]I am We room together uh at the convention, but I also think Jonathan is going to do a great job. Jonathan and I are friends. That might surprise some people because he was on the other side of when Angela was persecuting me and trying to remove me. Hey, Addison.

[01:27:33]Sorry, just got excited for somebody from convention. Hey, I know all the rest of you are from convention, but I just haven't seen Addison in my chat before. Uh Jonathan, just so you know, I'm not going to reveal too much personal stuff. Jonathan has also [clears throat] apologized to me for that whole period of time for given and forgotten. He's done excellent jobs pres uh arguing LNC briefs before the JC. So if anyone thinks there's some kind of like friction uh between us, there is not.

[01:28:08]And I supported Amanda for by Sher. I voted for Amanda on every round. I like Tony. I think Tony also would have done an excellent job. If there's ever a vacancy on the LNC, I hope they appoint Tony to it.

[01:28:29]There was going to be a coin flip. So yeah, God, there are things I forgot to cover. So there were two atlarge vacancies on the LNC. Steve got exactly 50%.

[01:28:44]I wish Steve had apologized to me before that vote because I would have voted for him and then he would have gotten over 50%. But he did apologize to me afterwards. So I'm not again trying to rehash that. In fact, we we talked on the phone earlier today. Things are good.

[01:29:00]So, they uh pointed Steve to one of the atlarge vacancies and then there was a tie between Oh god, there's another reconciliation. One thing I really loved about this convention is there was a lot of reconciliation. So, there was a tie between Tony and Richard Longstreth. A lot of people know that because of things that happened in 2021 that we are not going to rehash. Um, Richard Longstreth and I, we were friends before, we weren't friends after. Um, Richard and I reconciled at this convention and I worked, as you know, I I nominated him. Uh, I would have willingly done the nomination speech for him if he wanted to and I helped whip for him and work to get him elected.

[01:29:52]So, there was a tie between Richard and Tony and they were going to do a coin flip. They agreed to that, but then someone moved. No, we need to be on the record and we are going to do a like a ballot, a voice ballot and Richard won that. Either Richard or Tony would have been great in that role. I feel real bad for Tony. He's ran a bunch of times. He's an he's qualified. He's a genuinely good person.

[01:30:28]and and uh Addison. Uh yeah, that was a whirlwind and do look forward to 2028.

[01:30:36]Uh I I actually think it was a good convention except for the schedule. The schedule really pissed me off. This in fact the schedule pissed me off so bad.

[01:30:44]Let me let me do a con a confession. I said this on Twitter, so I guess it's not that much of a confession if I already said it publicly. If I hadn't promised to be there to support certain people that I thought were good for the LNC, I was I wanted to leave. I was so pissed off at the schedule between Friday or Saturday. If I wasn't already if I didn't already promise people that I would be there to support them, I would have changed my flight from Tuesday to Sunday because I felt completely ripped off. God damn, I'm mad at Pat Ford.

[01:31:23]Okay. Um, so Chuck says, "Yeah, he voted for Steve." Many of my friends did not.

[01:31:30]Again, all it would have taken was one more vote. And, um, I had started speaking with with Steve leading up to the convention. We had become on much friendlier terms. Um, I could have been convinced to vote for him. All I wanted was an apology. That's all I wanted. and he did give me an unqualified apology.

[01:31:52]Again, I don't want to keep rehashing that, but he's on the LNC now. So, so here we go. Hope Tony's considered for a vacancy. So, did anything else happened at that LNC meeting that I need to bring up? I don't think so.

[01:32:08]So, the next big thing is the New Hampshire disaffiliation on the JC. I'm sure Hector Roose is going to bring a bunch of [ __ ] JC appeals. So, we can look forward to that. Um also preference is going to be given to people in Colorado because I need help down at the storage facility. So in Colorado in that general area that would be willing to go down there nearly every Sunday afternoon with me because I do go down to the storage facility for about 3 hours every Sunday.
