Fake Boss, Real Tess | Tess's Philosophy #21Added:
Fake boss, real Tess.
Monday morning, the store was unusually crowded. Tess was helping a customer when she noticed a woman walking in wearing a long coat, big glasses, and a hat pulled low over her face.
The woman slowly looked through each item, her face calm and hard to read.
Nora leaned closer and whispered, "Hey, I think that's the boss. You can tell right away just by the way she walks."
Tess glanced over a small jolt.
It really did look like Mina, the fashion floor manager on the third level.
But she kept her warm smile and walked up like she would with any other customer.
"Hi, is there anything I can help you with?"
The customer frowned.
"Why is this shirt so expensive? I've seen it cheaper in other shops."
Tess answered gently without hesitation.
"That's true, but ours comes from official suppliers and the stitching is guaranteed. I just worry that cheaper ones might not last as long."
The customer looked at her and gave a small nod.
"What about this color? Would it suit someone with slightly darker skin like mine?"
Tess tilted her head, taking a moment to look carefully, then spoke honestly.
"If you want something more elegant, light beige would suit you better.
It makes your skin look softer and more even.
White might be a little too bright on your skin."
The customer was quiet for a moment, then smiled lightly.
"You're being honest, right? Not just trying to please me?"
"Yes. I believe selling is about helping customers find what really suits them, not just selling at any cost."
The customer took off her glasses and smiled.
"Well done, Tess. You passed the test this morning.
Nora stood nearby, eyes wide.
I knew it.
Mina patted Tess on the shoulder.
Remember this. A good salesperson makes customers trust them, not feel forced to buy.
Tess smiled and lowered her head slightly.
Yes, I'm not just selling clothes. I'm learning to be a better person.
