First Public Execution and trial of Nazi Stutthof camp guards in World War 2

The first public execution of Nazi Stutthof concentration camp guards took place on July 1, 1946, in Gdańsk, Poland, where four women guards—Jenny Wanda Barkmann, Elisabeth Becker, Wanda Klaff, and Gerda Steinhoff—were executed by short-drop hanging after being convicted of crimes against humanity at the first Stutthof trial, which also sentenced 11 other guards to death and two to imprisonment.
