Religious communities that publicly shame young people for personal mistakes, such as pregnancy out of wedlock, can cause significant psychological trauma and dehumanization, as the judgmental behavior of religious institutions often contradicts their teachings of love and compassion.

Women Reaction To Pastor Publicly Shaming Woman For Getting PregnantAjouté :
I want to apologize to everybody in here because I am pregnant.
>> Some people don't understand when a lot of people are leaving the church or leaving religion is because of how a lot of religion are so judgmental that even for a child they will be so judgmental and put down a child.
[snorts] Hey beautiful people, how you all doing today? It's your girl Destiny here and welcome to my channel. How you are doing? I hope you guys are doing great. So today's video is a very interesting video and guys, I'm here for it. Like I really want us to have this conversation. So this video is a video of a church video that has gone viral and has gotten people talking of a church calling out a young girl.
Clearly, you can tell this is a young girl because she was addressed as um sister something's daughter for a young girl to stand on the front of the church to ask for forgiveness for getting pregnant out of wedlock. And this has strike the conversation of people talking about how church dehumanize and how church disgrace younger people and how even the church system works and structured. and also some of the things the pastor said after this young girl came in front of the church to apologize for getting pregnant out of wedlock.
Some of the things that was being said.
Anyway guys, well let's go check out the video and then people's response to the video and then I'll come back and share my thoughts. But let me know what you think about this video down in the comment section.
>> Stand right in front of the congregation. Yeah, right in front of the table.
Um, I want to apologize to everybody in here because I am pregnant. Um, okay.
>> Sorry y'all.
>> I just hope that y'all all forgive me and for praying for me.
>> [applause] >> Where is the man that got her pregnant?
[applause] What the f?
They say uh I assume see you repent.
Then you never wait later to repent.
>> If you sin, you don't wait no two, three. You don't wait till the baby come to repent. You repent now.
You just don't do it again.
But you got to repent. I don't care how you look at it.
You already know.
She already know what time it is.
Told her it's not what you think it is.
The church praying for you.
We ain't going to condone your sin.
We ain't going to do that.
Ain't no baby showers going on.
That's what you lose out at. You have a baby out of wedlock. Ain't no baby showers.
Nobody at this church by attend one.
>> Mama shouldn't have one neither.
You got to take care of your granddaughter. You can't condone scene.
>> Where is the man?
>> We have no private baby shop. Can't have no baby shot. You lose all the prize and glory. You lose all that. You just lose all that.
Thank God that God didn't take you out of here.
I'm not [cough] I'm not going to be I keep saying that that's talking later.
>> So, I've been like dragging my feet on speaking about the girl who had to get up in the church and was like obviously that's embarrassing. I grew up in that type of church. Um my pastor was not mean like that guy though. That guy was really mean. But my pastor would definitely call us out from the pullpit.
Um we did have a thing where we open the doors of the church uh benediction. No, I'm sorry. Open the doors of the church and altar call. We also the church was small enough that we would do um testimonies or like ask for prayer.
First of all, my favorite part [laughter] I've literally always been for drama because one thing about church folks, they are not going to go to therapy.
They're literally going to say, [sighs] "I need you to pray for me." and then trauma dump and tell you the craziest [ __ ] you've ever heard in your life. And then they're going to tell you once they're done one more time. Yeah. So go ahead and pray for me. And who knows if you do it. You probably don't. You know, half the time y'all don't, but that's a whole different story. But something I have not seen said or acknowledged fry the pastor up. Like he's he's definitely a [ __ ] But something I have not seen any anybody say, especially other church people, is that that was absolutely facilitated by that girl's family. Like I've seen that happen. And every time I've seen it happen, it's been the mamas putting their kids on the chopping block.
>> True.
>> You know, cuz you think you're saving their soul and they got to acknowledge they sin. Like no one is critiquing the fact that I mean I've seen that happen in that situation where a a girl who's really young got pregnant like I think she was like 18 18 19 somewhere in there. And then the other time was like a girl she was in high school. She got caught up doing like inappropriate things and her mama brought her up there. Like each time it was the mama's.
Mhm.
>> I don't know. It's like obvious guy, but please don't don't get it twisted. How did he even know that information? I pro I know what happened. I know what happened. They found out she was pregnant and they took her to his office and they served her up and said, "Hey, fry her up hard >> in front of everybody."
>> Mhm.
>> That's what happened. Roast her at the steak. And it's crazy to think about because in so many of these situations where these young people are being chastised in front of like their entire religious community, it's the parents serving them up.
>> Like that has to be talked about. Like that can't be I cannot stress that enough.
>> That girl's mama took her to that pastor's office.
>> I agree.
>> Saturday, you know what I'm saying? Or probably Wednesday at Bible study girl.
That's how it used to go when I was at church. [laughter] So, a pastor makes a young woman get in front of the congregation and apologize for getting pregnant out of wedlock.
And then he proceeds to say after she gives a tearful apology, he says, "Yeah, you know, you should repent now. You shouldn't wait to repent and ain't no baby showers gonna be going on."
Not he literally said and and and her mom shouldn't even give her a baby shower. No baby showers, no public ones, and no private ones. He said like it it it takes something away from it because she has gotten pregnant out of wetlock and the congregation is Amen. Amen.
Them two stupid. Exactly.
Baby, please. and he's trying to disguise it as some kind of support, as a I'm guiding you down the right path when really y'all are brainwashing that young lady. All of them is brainwashed.
You don't do people like that. It doesn't matter what your beliefs are. It doesn't matter how you live your life.
Everybody is not you. And to put her in front of the entire church >> to apologize like she owes y'all something is crazy. We just got into 2025 and I know that the the changing of the year don't mean nothing, but y'all already starting the year off pissing me off.
>> I just hope that y'all all forgive me and stop praying for me.
>> What I want to know is who is the father and is he a part of the congregation?
Mhm.
>> Because I have a very strong feeling that whoever the father is is a part of that church and is possibly not a single man cuz this young girl young girl I don't know exactly how old she is >> but she is still very young because they referred to as sister whoever's daughter.
>> Mhm.
>> And then after they embarrass her by forcing her to apologize for getting pregnant out of wedlock, but the man, whoever it is that got her pregnant, doesn't have to also apologize to the congregation.
She has to apologize to the congregation. Then he goes on to further humiliate her by saying that she's not getting a baby shower. she does not deserve a baby shower and that she needs to repent before the baby gets here and not do it ever again.
>> Men are never held accountable for their participation in what happens to teenage girls when it comes to teenage pregnancy. As we all know, statistically speaking, teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 17, 40% of those pregnancies are from men 25 and >> Yeah.
>> And then Christians come on here and be like, "There's no such thing as church hurt. Y'all be making it up." But imagine the trauma. Not only is she young, she's not married, she's not pregnant. Now she has to watch all these adults staring at her in her face. So now you know and we all know how they gossip in the church boy. Even as a young girl I can recall having a conversation with um boys in the church and watch and watch the grown-ups >> Mhm.
>> and how they carry on and act a fool.
Mhm.
>> Y'all would see stuff like this happening to young girls, how they are sexually assaulted in the church.
>> Mhm.
>> Then humiliated by the church.
>> And let's not forget that pastor from a year ago, that pastor that >> married 18 years >> um the young woman, the man that was in his 16 and married that 18-year-old girl. Let's not forget about that. And his congregation stood by him.
these things are happening to little girls in these churches >> and but then y'all will run around and and harass people. And someone I seen once said, "Oh, why is it only like Christians that are ever talked about?"
Christians are the only one that that feel the need to constantly force their [ __ ] down people's throat. I'mma I'mma attach a screenshot of someone in my DMs and that's not the first one.
Like they are the only ones that feel the need to constantly shove it down your throat. You walking on the street minding your [ __ ] business. The power of Christ compels you. Like get and y'all wonder why people are walking away from the church and walking away from religion as a whole. The people and y'all be like, "Oh, it has nothing to do with the people." It has everything to do with the people because these are the people who you're supposed to be in community with. And if you don't don't eat that, Zuri And if you are either new to religion, you're trying to come back to religion, and imagine this is what you have to walk into watching a young girl who is already dealing with a stressful situation. Any woman that has been pregnant understands the [ __ ] stress and the turmoil that you are already going through.
>> And then the people who are supposed to help you through and help you, guide you, instead they want to humiliate you.
>> And I guarantee you that's not even and that's what they they recorded and showed us. So, we don't even know the extent of what she had to deal with or what she's still going through. And just imagine the amount of just ning she got to sit in here hear about. And then now imagine, right? What if what if the person who got her pregnant is a grown man who is also sitting in that congregation being a part of the nigh and >> na na.
>> Mhm.
And now you looking at the man that did this to you while you sitting up there apologizing.
For all you hardcore Bible thumping Christians, before y'all get in people's comments and start about God and trying to um condemn people, y'all need to be holding these churches accountable for their behavior. And if you don't see anything wrong with this behavior, >> you're part of the problem.
>> What can I say?
>> What can I say?
>> Mhm.
>> Wow. Please go down in the comment section and share your thought. Love to know what you think about this video, this story down in the comment section on people's response. What are your own take? But please, as always, please keep it respectful. You're on this channel.
We're allowed to disagree, but we do it in a very respectful way. So go ahead, feel free and share your thought. So for me like seeing this video if you are a Nigeria you know if you know Nigerians or you are a Nigerian you know how religious we are and most of our parents or most of us millennials were raised in this type of orthodox church where even you just saying hi to a boy somebody is naggy naggy naggy naggy know somebody's talking about it and all that but for me it's the attitude of how some of this churches is like I said I was raised in the church. My mom is still very much a very like stone cold hardcore uh Christian but I personally I don't believe in religion as a whole. Whatever religion I don't believe because I believe that that's one thing they use to control and manipulate us as human being but I believe in God. And this scenario just point out some of the disgusting thing and the judgmental thing that happen.
And I remember as a child those are some of the things that made me question a lot of the things because all I see they keep saying that love your neighbor as yourself. They keep preaching the love of Christ and all that. But the only thing they do and that I see as a child was how these people gossip, hate, bike and cause trouble and cause mischief between families and all that. And talking about this young girl that will just demon deumize for getting pregnant.
Not to say you guys know how I feel about babies, getting pregnant before marriage. I totally don't co-sign it.
But the fact that this girl was made to stand in front of the church and clearly she is a young, she's a child. She is a child. That's a child. And that's why she was addressed as somebody's daughter. But like the other sister said, the person that took her there was her own mother. And I don't understand.
And funny enough, this is something this is something that my mother will probably do back on the days like take you to the pastor, report to you. This is something my mother would do. And I know she's watching. This is something that she would do. And they don't understand the mental abuse and the psychological trauma that this type of thing cause. And this is because most times these mothers, they do it because one, they want to save face for their fellow women in their women's group. They want to save face.
Secondly, they think that that is their own way for saving you. Not realizing that what make your child to go out or what makes your child to be accessible to somebody to abuse her to have sex to even have child to even get pregnant as a child under your roof. They are not deconstructing that because the church has told them therapy unpacking your trauma just pray and every other thing and sweep things under the carpet and not realizing that this is just causing more trauma to this child to the child and all that. I remember the like I can give instances of so many cases where my mom would take me to the church and how some of these pastors really spoil a lot of relationship between me and my mom and I'm saying this my mom is watching this video I know she watch all my videos and I'll say growing up as a child and I'm going to say this yeah and all that and me and my mom have unpacked all this we're in a good place now but I remember how some of this pastors some of them told my mom that I was a witch.
I was the one responsible for our marital issues.
Like just this coming from a church, this coming from a pastor. And just think of a little and this is how some of these churches has destroy a lot of family, a lot of relationship between family with things like this because they are holier than thou. They need to prove a point. They need to de deumanize you. They have to a pastor has looked at my mom and told my mom that a little child that is barely 10 years old was the cause of our problem cause of our marital issue because of the struggle she was going through in marriage. when she has a husband that was me diagnosing him which is my father a narcissist that the only thing he has power that gives him power is his money and that's one thing he used to control um my mom but no I was the problem and that's fought a lot of relationship between me and my mom for the longest time because everything that goes wrong my mom give me the side eye but now looking back at it me and my mom unpacking our trauma it was the most disgusting thing and because that pastor is is still a pastor to date and it still and I feel know for sure that it will still be destroying a lot of them, destroying a lot of young girls. And that those experience really put me in that place where I I was a very timid child. I wasn't loved the way I was supposed to love because my mom really thought that I was the cause of a problem. And this is a different angle of where the church is. And that's one of the reasons I personally I don't believe in religion because they're just playing with the name of God. They're just playing with the name of God. And the fact that they are making I just pray that this young girl is able to find a place where she can be safe and leave that household because that household will just only make her not even live in her authentic self. She's just going to keep on wearing a character. And that's also another thing that I also want to talk about. A lot of people in the church, a lot of people in religion, they are not living their authentic self. They are in character 247. They are the biggest and the the greatest actress and actors ever because they have to they have to push a particular narrative and persona even though that's not what they are in hearts. They'll claim, "Oh, I love you sister. I love you brother." but deep down is dark and evil and they just max it up with religion, max it up with Jesus Christ, max it up, oh because I go to church and they are the most evil people. They they are so judgmental that they cannot open their heart to even love because why would you even do that to a young child rather than you going deep to find out that what what even made this to happen rather you're there judging her rather you're there humanizing her like the other sister said I wonder where the father of this child is because I know this type of ch this type of church because like I said I was reading in this type of church uh church most times you are not allowed how to move. So, so you you're usually confined to the people in the church and all that. So, who got her pregnant?
Those are some of the questions because I could like the other sister said I could give a cider that it has to do somebody either a family, somebody that is a close proximity with the family or somebody from the church. But those people will not be held responsible. And this is something I have seen repeatedly of younger girls. There was this when I was in high school, there was this girl that got pregnant and she was even a pastor's daughter. Do you know even up to date, nobody even knows the guy that got her pregnant and the guy the man was in the church. Yes. And she was a young girl in high school. We call it secondary school in Nigeria. But yeah, because they will protect the men and push the young girls out there to face the consequences of an action that was done by a grown man that was being a young child that was being abused by an adult.
Anyway guys, I know this um conversation is really wild and deep, but really go down in the comment section, share your thought.
