They are now at the National Quarantine Unit at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. It is the only federally funded quarantine center. They will be observed around the clock by doctors and nurses. One of those on the flight has tested positive but does not have symptoms. >> Eloise Akidos lost her 15-year-old son, Juliani Moreno Gueen, two months ago. He had been walking down the street with his girlfriend when he was hit by a car.
Police say the driver, 35-year-old Tiffany Marcato, was under the influence when she hit him. They estimate that she was speeding at least 60 mph or more at the time of the crash. Enough that surveillance video shows her car plowing through the front of landscaping at a bridal flower shop just moments after hitting Giuliani.
>> It's not fair for us. It's not fair for my son.
you know, he he's he was he he had just turned 15.
He had a lot of dreams and everything had to stop because of this person.
I just don't want his story to die out.
I wanted to continue being out there because I'm not the only mom that's been through this.
Kos is asking the community to write letters or email the Fresno County District Attorney's Office to ask the DA pursue the strongest charges possible against Marcato and not offer any plea deal that would reduce accountability.
On social media, the mayor of Parlier posted in response to this call to action saying, quote, I'll work on a letter as a mayor of Parlier. We want and need justice. Do you want me to email it to you or hand deliver it? I can do both.
We also reviewed court records and found that Marcado has an extensive history with the criminal justice system.
Records show 26 cases filed in San Bernardino County include nine postrelease community supervision violations, eight felonies, including assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. Four misdemeanors, three child support cases, and two traffic infractions. Her most recent conviction was in April of 2024 when she pleaded no contest. She was sentenced to six years in prison, but records show that she was released early and was on parole.
The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office is providing an update into the disappearance of 60-year-old Barbara Barnett. She was reported missing in March of 2024 after she went for a walk and didn't return. Investigators say she was known to travel on foot along Highway 49 and may have been picked up by multiple people in the days following her disappearance. I know there has been different chatter amongst social media, but um our goal is to solve the case.
Our goal is to bring closure, completion, whatever it may be, to this case um awareness and attention. Give us some rumors. Give us uh give us anything because we're not going to stop investigating this case until we find closure, completion, and answers.
>> He says Barnett is schizophrenic and was on medication. Investigators also say that she may have been trying to sell a gold bracelet before she vanished and are asking anyone who may have seen it to come forward. Her family also mentions that she was seeing a new boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.
>> That individual was described to be a uh older Native American potentially slender build.
And even though these acquaintances have u you know friendship when asked uh Barbara would not reveal the name and did did indicate that um she couldn't tell her who her who her boyfriend was because uh family may or may not approve of it.
>> Several other people have come forward saying they've actually spotted Barnett.
The sheriff's office has now launched a new website dedicated to missing person's cases, making it easier for the public to submit tips. It also assigned additional investigators to the case and is offering a reward for information. If you know anything about where she could be or any details on her disappearance, call the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office at area code 209-9663615.
>> All right, time is 508 now. All right, things are heating up here and well, the main reason is high pressure here. It's going to be cooking the uh the whole southwestern part of the country today.
Got a little bit more high pressure coming in from the Pacific here. So, yeah, this is going to last for a couple of days here. Good news though, we have some low pressure picking up in the Gulf of Alaska. That's going to work its way down by Wednesday there. And we're actually going to drop by about 12 degrees Wednesday. So, we're looking at today and tomorrow for this uh intense heat uh to last for us here. So, uh we do have a heat advisory in effect. This would be our first one of the year. Goes into effect at 11:00 this morning and will last all the way until tomorrow night at 8:00 and it covers the entire Sanwaqin Valley. Goes up uh to Stannis Loss County all the way down to Kern County and everything in between foothills. Uh looking uh pretty hot today, too. It's going to be very hot temperatures getting up to 102 in some places, especially down like in Kern County there. Could see 102 out there.
So, uh, just some precautions out here for you in case you've forgotten what it's like here when it gets very hot.
Uh, it is a summerlike heat wave. You got to wear loose- fitting clothing, light loose fitting clothing. If you're going to work outside today, get, uh, plenty of rest, plenty of shade, stay hydrated, and find some AC uh, as often as you can. Um, but very most importantly, stay hydrated if you can.
Get all the the work outdoors that you got to do. Do all that in the morning if you can. Um otherwise uh it's uh triple digits here today and tomorrow. So today 100 tomorrow 102. We're going to be close on some records here and then Wednesday 88. That's that's look that's like a 13°ree drop. So uh you'll be able to make it through today and tomorrow and then Wednesday we'll get some relief there. Uh 60s overnight 50s. Also wind speeds are going to pick up late tomorrow into Wednesday there. So be ready for uh that. That should take the edge off of things too. All right, coming up in just a bit we'll get a look at the rest of your highs and lows across the Sanwaqin Valley.
US and Iranian leaders continue butting heads over what they call unfavorable ceasefire proposals. The remaining sticking points on the path to peace for both nations and what could put the current ceasefire in jeopardy. Time is now 510.
