The Real Cost of Grocery Shopping in Tijuana (Costco & Walmart Audit)Added:
Little bit of bodybuilding.
>> Hot dog.
>> You getting a hot dog? You getting hot.
How much you pay for that hot dog?
>> 35 >> 35 pesos. Not bad. All right, man. I got to go. I'll see you later, guys. We're back here at Costco.
Uh it's about 10:00. We um we're here a little bit earlier today. We were able to find a parking spot right there in the front, which is a not a uh common thing. Usually, you got to go up in that parking structure right there. So, we did a we've done a Costco video before.
I wanted to do another one and I'll probably continue to do them. That way, you know, you guys see what the the prices are down here for various items.
Uh seems to be what people like to see.
So, I'll put the uh conversion of the price uh once I get home. I'll convert it to dollars and we'll show you kind of what the prices are for various items.
Some stuff's cheaper, some stuff's not.
Some stuff's about the same. So, we'll uh drop it in the comments to see um you know what the prices are and and tell me what your prices are based on uh you know where you're at in the US. Prices vary. I forgot my Costco card. I'm going to go back to the car. So, uh ah see you later.
All right, guys. We have made it in.
We'll head, of course, to the grocery section. Electronics are going to be a little bit more typically, unless you find something on sale or a Mexican brand. We're going to skip that. It's not usually an everyday purchase. I'm going to try to keep the video um everyday style purchasing down here.
They definitely dropped the price on this.
Look at that. That's way cheaper. Hell, we paid That's 30% usually see here.
This is like a Mexicanstyle shirt that people wear down here. Uh it looks like this might be a little popup stand they got here. I've never seen this before and it is kind of away from the typical clothing over there. So, um this might be kind of a specialty item. Looks like these are about $50, $60, but they look like they're super good quality. You can tell by the craftsmanship on the shirt.
It's kind of like a Mexican style uh shirt. you see a lot of businessmen and um people going out to dinner wearing this type of attire. So now one thing you'll see down here I think I don't know if you guys drop it in the comments let me know what a price a bag of coal is. I feel like that's cheaper. Um so let me know. That's about $31. I'm sorry about $16 $17. So just let me know. Like I said they got security in here as well. So Got little fake goods here.
About $6 for these. Six bucks.
All right, let's head over to the meat.
Let's grab some chicken. Something I definitely need.
Some salmon. $4.49.
About 25 bucks. I feel like that's probably similar pricing in the US. I don't know. You guys drop it in the comments and let me know. I'm going to grab some chicken breast. They've been having this brand for a while. They usually have this or the boncho brand.
I like this brand a little bit better actually. So, what's cool is they kind of they put this chicken in the plastic and then they also it's melanaza de puga. So, they they kind of flatten it out with a hammer and each individual chicken breast is wrapped. So, I'm going to get two packs of these cuz I'm actually starting to diet today. I'm going to try to be doing a little bit of bodybuilding. Uh try to get a little bit more muscle mass on. So, I'm going to buy two packs of this and uh let's see what we got going on here. 375 about 17 bucks. I'll put the exact conversion up there on the screen for you. We'll break down exactly the shopping cart list.
All right. So, this is going to be USDA prime from Canada fillets.
I'm going give you the price there on that.
So, anything that's going to be imported is going to uh you're going to pay a premium for it. Okay? So, something like this might be a little more expensive than the US.
All right? And I'm going to show you a price on that one.
664 pesos.
559. 5.94. I mean, 30 bucks for So, they're sirloins. They're not fillets, so they're center cut sirloins.
Like I said, not everything's cheaper down here.
Let's head over to the beef section.
Got a Tomahawk Porter House Tomahawk Prime from Canada.
So, I'll put the price up there. It looks like it's about uh close to 70 bucks.
I don't I'm going to be honest, guys. I don't buy my beef here anymore. This ground sirloin, I believe, is Mexican sirloin. Uh, it's good. Okay, it's just a lot. I don't eat this much beef uh anymore with my dog being gone. So, we'll give you the price nonetheless.
It's about $23.
We'll put it exactly up there. $4.47, $2.29 for this Molita Wagu. This is American Wagu. So, just keep in mind this is not going to be your your Japanese Wagu. They kind of use that branding to kind of uh I think kind of trick people into thinking they're getting a Wagyu. I mean, it's a domestic Wagyu breed of beef, but it's not like a true Japanese Wagyu. So, just know the difference. This is not going to be uh just cuz it says Wagu, it's domestic Wagu. So, 640.
Uh but this is all from Canada.
Okay. It's not a bad deal though. But I feel like for me, I like getting my beef at Walmart. Um, I like the Sonora Mexican beef from Sonora. I think it tastes better uh than American beef. So, we'll check out the lamb rack right here.
I mean, not cheap. I mean, that's going to cost you over $40. Okay, that's a US product, you can tell. or it's a uh it's from Australia, but this is probably sent to the US and then imported here. I don't think it's directly from um the US because it's all written in English, right? That's how you could tell. So, some of this stuff, like I said, is is more expensive.
So, pork, again, US pork, this is going to cost you a premium. They got Mexican pork down here, but at Costco, they tend to lean towards the me the American brands, right? 429 pesos, 249.
All right. This item, these items are kind of a mix of US and um looks like most of them are actually written in Spanish. So, these might be local items here. Yeah, this is a this is a this is definitely a Mexican brand. I know that for sure. So, like I said, some of this stuff is cheaper for sure. I mean, this is some type of deli meat.
Um, off the top of my head, 169. That's going to be about, you know what, eight bucks for that. You get a pretty large amount. So, all right.
Swing this around.
Got some cheese.
This is all written in Spanish, so you're probably going to get a better deal here on some of these items. All right, my favorite section here, the fruit section. Strawberries, $2.49 for a bag. I'm going to grab some blueberries. 185 pesos per bag. Now, this is a great deal. I already know.
Um, you guys already know, right? You guys get these at at your local Costco.
They're always substantially cheaper.
185 pesos.
We'll put the conversion for there in the US dollars. I got the blueberries.
>> You want mixed berry?
>> You get both. Put them both in there.$2.49.
239. Mangoes.
239 for the berry blend. Okay, that's going to be the one everybody knows. All right, so it looks like some of these are mixed products. These areund What's this? 129 or 149? Yeah, these are 149.
So, see, we got strawberries.
All right, guys. I got to pick up a couple things at Walmart that they don't have at Costco or that are overpriced at Costco.
>> Too much.
>> Too much quantity. too much price or um just, you know, I just too much waste.
So, we pick up some stuff from Walmart.
I'm gonna be getting some egg whites, potatoes, and um you know, just I usually come here two, three times a week and pick up little knickknack things that uh that we cook with, and uh you know, some stuff at Costco. The bulk stuff is just it's just too much. I I don't ever finish it. So, we get the beef and stuff here. I'm going to show you here a couple different prices.
Let's roll. All right, we got the eggs.
That's the first order of business.
Baros devos, guys. This is going to be an item that I always get here at Walmart. Uh it's 47 pesos. It's 26.50 for the small one. Uh for some reason at the other grocery stores, I've seen these as high as almost double. Okay, so these are these I get sent for the same brand. Okay, that's why I don't get these at Costco. They're um they got a pack of six for like I think it's like 190 pesos and they're the small ones so you get six of them. So this is another item I get here at the past or the the Walmart. Sorry.
A is pony Chicken definitely cheaper at Costco. I got these little threeacks.
>> All right, next item I always get here is these paper towels. These are 29 29 pesos for these. So, um the ones they got at Costco, they got Bounty and some of the American brands, they're overpriced. I mean, they import them. I get it. Uh, let's see what else. I think that might be everything. We'll go check out the chip aisle real quick.
And I think that'll wrap it up. I got most of the stuff at Costco.
Cheaper here.
