In 2012, a leaked cell phone video of a wedding afterparty in Kohistan, Pakistan, allegedly caused the deaths of five women who were tortured and executed by a tribal council (Jurga) for violating cultural traditions, as well as the deaths of three of Absul's brothers who were killed for exposing the incident, demonstrating how cultural enforcement mechanisms can lead to extreme human rights violations when combined with modern technology that makes private moments public.
