My journey with arabic grammar.

[00:00:01]One of the most important sciences which a student will learn is Arabic grammar.

[00:00:07]Subhan Allah. This Arabic grammar science is Oh my word.

[00:00:12]When people think about grammar, they don't really grasp what is going to speak about and the details of it. They think about Arabic grammar as oh, it's just the grammar of the language. I'll give you an example of my journey with Arabic grammar. So, when I was first learning Arabic when I went to Egypt, um I basically of course over there they teach you very basic Arabic.

[00:00:32]Uh the Bayna Yadayk books etc. Then after once you advance you get into grammar, morphology, these other sciences. So, I used to think that Arabic grammar is just to correct your tongue so you pronounce things correctly. I had no clue I was. Like no clue.

[00:00:49]Um so, I thought you know what, forget this man. As long as I understand Arabic, I can read books etc. That's fine. So, um I was forced to learn it. And I didn't like it man. This is difficult man. It's like mathematics man. This thing is marfoo, this thing is mansoob, this thing is majroor, this thing is like this this the khabar taqaddama huna, this thing happened here, X Y and Z.

[00:01:07]This is muqaddar, this is mahdhoof, X Y and What is all of this? What is this?

[00:01:11]Too much man.

[00:01:12]But Subhan Allah al Adhim, after like I think it was a few years after when I was still studying um [snorts] in Egypt, um and I told myself okay, I need to study the certain sciences which I'm weak in.

[00:01:26]I need to study them more. So, Subhan Allah Allah Azza wa Jall blessed me with a very good teacher, strong in lugha man, strong in the different sciences man, nahw, sarf, balagha, all these different sciences. And he actually made me really love this science a lot man.

[00:01:37]Like because the way he um of course he taught the grammar the way it's meant to be taught, but he told me the benefits and the and the fruits of the science. Like he would give me examples okay, in the Quran the meaning here has changed because the harf of jar has different meanings X Y and Z. The meaning of this thing has changed cuz this because of this thing and that thing in fiqh this mas'alah is affected cuz of this. In usool al fiqh you learn that um um this principle is based upon this which came in Arabic grammar.

[00:02:03]Et cetera. Like he would just explain things and go into detail and that's when I realized oh my taste this was like one of the most important things I could have studied.

[00:02:12]It's a bit difficult, it's tricky, but it's amazing especially when you once you start grasping it and you go to the more advanced books.

[00:02:19]And especially when you from there you can benefit from it by reading different books you know mutawwalat and longer books in tafsir which deal with the language of the Quran and other works as well like in fiqh there's a lot of issues you know which are connected to the Arabic language et cetera. It's so it's so beautiful wallahi.

[00:02:39]So What was my point? What's the point of this video? See sometimes my mind goes blank. So the point is don't be a lazy student. Don't be somebody that just studies [snorts] what they want to study because you're not going to progress and you won't be able to benefit anyone. Your point Sorry, your goal with behind your studies is to benefit yourself uplift in ignorance and then to benefit others. Okay?

[00:03:01]The whole point of studying is that to reach a level you can access works and you can research and read while still going back to scholars and mashaikh. That's the whole point. Okay, you're not you don't want to be stuck studying beginner books for 10 years and wallahi al azim there's many people thousands that unfortunately they've been afflicted with this. May Allah azza wa jal protect us. Um because they don't think the right method methodology et cetera.

[00:03:23]Um so this is an advice to study the Arabic language especially Arabic grammar and to put your effort into it and to know that it's not just you merely learning how to correct your pronunciation which is also it actually is a big thing because once you study nahw when you study all the different abwab you you can now see you know different things. You see? And you can see who actually has studied knowledge and who hasn't. You know? Subhanallah.
