English Phonics: Long Vowel "I"

[00:00:01]Welcome back. Today we will talk about the long vowel I sentences.

[00:00:08]I created a sentence for each combination of the sound I. First one I the lion is wild. The lion is wild.

[00:00:25]Next combination I E. Remember there is a letter in between the I and E.

[00:00:48]I E with the letter D in the middle. I E letter K in the middle and I E the letter D in the middle. Then we have the I G combination for the sound I. Those three letters are always together. The light is bright at night.

[00:01:22]Next we have the Y E. There is a letter that goes in between the Y and E.

[00:01:42]Why? With the letter P in the middle and E on the end.

[00:01:49]the letter Y, which sounds like the letter I.

[00:01:55]But remember, the sound I is only if the Y is at the end of a word. The butterfly and the fly have wings.
