War Rages & Economy CRUMBLES While Trump Nods OffAdded:
According to new data released this morning, inflation climbed to 3.8% in April, its highest level in nearly three years, as rising energy costs linked to the war in Iran continue to drive prices higher across the country. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said energy costs accounted for more than 40% of the monthly increase while wage growth slowed to 3.6%, 6% meaning prices are now rising faster than paychecks for the first time since 2023 and putting even more strain on Americans already struggling with affordability, which despite what Donald would have people believe is not a Democratic hoax, affordability is one of the most important issues to the American people.
And since Donald got back into office in 2025, living in America has become increasingly unaffordable because of course before he started his illegal and constitutional choice in Iran, which again is driving energy prices higher, he started imposing outrageous tariffs on our closest trading partners, which is the original problem with our economy, increasing prices, and increasing inflation.
Today, Donald heads to China, uh, the country most benefiting from the incompetence of the Trump regime. And he's going to have a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where trade, tariffs, the warn energy prices, and growing tensions over Taiwan are all expected to dominate the talks.
Meanwhile, on Fox State TV, uh, Interior Secretary, uh, Doug Bergam made the administration's case for its economic agenda.
>> Your thought about suspending the gas tax to take 18 cents off the gallon?
>> Well, this is uh one of many ideas that President Trump and the Trump administration is pursuing, but uh again, we should just start with the fact that uh the US right now is the most energy secure, most energy affordable nation in the world. and President Trump playing a a geopolitical game. Uh which includes, you know, Venezuela stopping China from buying cheap Venezuelan Iranian oil. Uh the work that he's doing, you know, to build a coalition around the world, whether it's opening the straight or on critical minerals. Uh you know, heading into the summit this week, President Trump's in the strongest position of any US leader ever going into a discussion with China.
Uh and again it's a there's a you take a look at the economic numbers the United States happening right now uh that came out last week uh the US economy is strong China's economy is faltering uh it's just a great spot and President Trump's leadership is putting us in a great spa place to come out on top uh this year uh in the very near future.
>> Oh the fluency with which these traders lie it is truly impressive and of course horrifying. First of all, as I mentioned earlier, China is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, beneficiary of all of Donald's egregious economic missteps, uh, including things like defunding USAID, which has created a void for China to fill, increasing its soft power, and of course, again, the war of choice in Iran. And contrary to what Secretary Bergam has to say, one headline on the front page of the New York Times today reads, "Bijing increasingly views Donald's America as an empire in decline." The person who has the upper hand going into this summit in China is Xi Jinping.
Yesterday on the south lawn of the White House, Donald hosted the national champion Indiana Hooers football team.
As expected, the event quickly turned into his usual stream of conscious ramblings, which as always are filled with grievances, political attacks, and megalamia. But Donald also tried to squeeze in an economic message as he introduced his top trade official, Jameson Greer.
>> US trade representative, Jam Greer, one of the most important men anywhere in the world. We need more tariffs.
Jameson, we need more tariffs.
>> Not sure why Jameson got a shout out at a who's your event, but what do I know?
Uh, no, we do not need more tariffs.
Actually, China is probably hoping we continue to impose more tariffs because every time Donald does so, it increases the likelihood that our earthwall economic partners are going to turn increasingly to China. on uh one other thing about yesterday. Before the event with the Hoosiers, Donald held a maternal health meeting. Uh something, as you can imagine, he's deeply concerned about in the Oval Office with the so-called Maha team. That's the Make America Hateful Again. My apologies.
make America Healthy Again. Uh, including appearances by Robert Kennedy and MeT Oz and a collection of cabinet officials and political cronies. For much of the meeting, Donald appeared to have serious trouble staying awake, repeatedly nodding off, unless unless somebody started talking about him, which is clearly the only thing exciting enough to keep him conscious these days, at least during the day. Uh, he still seemed disoriented afterwards when he was on the south lawn. I want to wa you to watch as he tries to introduce the Hooser's head coach Kurt Senetti who is literally standing right next to him.
But Donald appears to have no idea who he is.
>> In 2023, shortly after joining Indiana, Kurt, who's Kurt? Kurt Signetti. Where is Kurt Signetti?
Huh? Oh, come here.
Come here. Kurt Signetti has turned out to be I believe I think he's the coach of the last decade.
>> I'm pretty sure they probably met before the event and Donald was probably told where he would be standing, but he forgot.
I guess it happens to all of us when we get much older and are in steep cognitive decline.
Donald's trip to China will also include a handpicked group of billionaire CEOs and corporate executives. Critics say the trip gives the appearance of a pay-to-play environment with massive corporations receiving direct White House access and potential trade carveouts that ordinary businesses could never dream of receiving because they can't afford to give Donald a big enough bribe. But here's how Donald's ambassador to China, David Purdue, defended the trip. Take a look.
>> So, in the meantime, you've got all these tech CEOs and the CEO from Boeing and uh a long list. There are 16 now who will be here. What does that say to China?
>> Well, it says we're united. I mean, it says that the business community is behind President Trump. These people want a level playing field. They're here to echo what President Trump is talking about, and we welcome them, and I think the Chinese do as well.
ah a level playing field for those guys just like we have an electoral level playing field in America right anyway the uh one of the few messages that that's sending is that one Donald seems only to care about white men doing business and that the only thing that matters to him going into this highstake summit with China and President Xi Jinping is business and money. On Capitol Hill this morning, Secretary of Skirmishes or Excursions if you will Pete Hagsath appeared alongside Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Kaine before the House Armed Services Committee as member questioned the Pentagon about the growing cost of the Iran War, Ukraine funding, and the administration's proposed $1.5 trillion defense budget.
California Congressman Pete Aguilar asked acting uh Pentagon controller Jules Hurst and Hegsath how much this war has cost taxpayers so far. Check it out.
>> Mr. Hurst, on on April 29th, as you indicated to the ranking member, you said that the Iran war had cost $25 billion in total. You reaffirmed that today. Do you have any do you have any other updated costs or projections um since that uh testimony that you've given? Outside reporting estimates have indicated that the war cost could be a billion dollars a day. Do you have any anything to share?
>> Yeah, thanks for the question, sir. Uh so at the time of testimony in front of the h it was $25 billion, but the joint staff team and the comproller team are constantly looking at that estimate and so now we think it's closer to 29. Uh that's because of updated repair and replacement of equipment cost and also uh just general operational costs to keep people in theater.
Thank you. I appreciate that. Mr. Secretary, when can you share more formal accounting on the cost of the war with with Congress and with this committee?
>> Um we'll share what we can. I think we've updated uh on that number this morning, but uh when it's when it's relevant and required, we will share it, >> which is to say never. And according to outside estimates, the war has is costing the American taxpayer much much more as much as a billion dollars a day.
In fact, um so the other thing to keep in mind is uh they were not questioning Hegathth and Kaine about the growing costs of Ukraine funding or US support for the war in Ukraine. Why would they not be questioning them about that?
Well, that's because US funding for Ukraine has decreased by about 95% since Donald got back to office in January of 2025, which is a travesty.
Today in Palm Beach, practically in Donald's backyard near Mara Lago, Democrats are holding a new Epstein hearing focused on the extremely controversial plea deal that was negotiated with Epstein uh by Donald's ally, Alex Aosta.
Remember, Alex Aosta was in Donald's first cabinet.
California Congressman Robert Garcia explained what they were hoping to uncover. Take a look.
>> Now, we've heard testimony from Alista, former Attorneys General Bill Barr, Les Wexter, Darren Endike, Richard Khan, folks that are key to the Epstein investigation. We've heard from former President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik just last week. And we have talked, of course, to survivors, witnesses, and whistleblowers. And we have brought critical documents to light from Jeffrey Epstein's estates, emails, photographs, videos. We secured bank records, documents, and we've done all this without formal committee subpoena power to properly conduct this investigation.
But we're undeterred and we're going to continue to fight till we get the truth.
Today, we're also oversight Democrats are also publishing a new report. Now, this report uses evidence obtained by our investigation, including and most importantly, bank records that show how Alex Aosta's sweetheart deal let Epstein build a global network using enablers to bring in women who he could then exploit and abuse. And this report is just the beginning of numerous numerous reports and information that we intend to put out over the course of the months ahead. I'm very glad that Democrats are continuing to pursue the Epstein files. And this is a very good angle because the despicable deal that Alex Aosta created specifically to benefit Jeffrey Epstein, who by the way had been convicted of sex with a minor. I'd like I like to call that rape. Um, it needs to be investigated because Alex Aosta should have been in prison, not put in Donald's cabinet. But that's how Donald treats people who either are convicted of or somehow implicated in rape and sex trafficking of young women. If Alex Aosta had actually held Jeffrey Epstein accountable as he should have been, Epste should have been put in prison for years, hundreds potentially of thousands of girls and young young women would have been saved from his horrific crimes against them and the horrific crimes that Glayton Maxwell committed against them. So yes, let's get to the bottom of this. This is a no-brainer because we know exactly what happened, just not enough people are aware of it.
