[00:00:00]Welcome to life in Costa del Sol, where  we not only show you the destination, but also show you what's it like  living here. Today we are chasing three completely different sides of Costa  del Sol. An international Fair which brings the whole world together in one place and we  are heading to Gibraltar before the border changes forever and finishing it all with a well  earned hidden escape where everything slows down.

[00:00:29]We have come to Fuengirola, because today  is the last day of the Fair. But this Fair is slightly different than the Fairs  you have seen in Spain. This is Feria of International countries. Last week we  were in Feria de Sevilla if you haven't checked the video out, do check it  out because that was so much fun!

[00:00:51]Over here you can see the size of the Feria and  also each of the casetas, or Halls as some might call them that way. So it's not as big  as the Feria de Sevilla you saw last week, But here the difference is that you  have all the different countries.

[00:01:11]It has the same vibe of a Spanish fair. You  have the tombola, you have the attractions.

[00:01:28]And I'm already listening to a lot of people from  different countries, because there's a big expat community here in Fuengirola and in Costa del  Sol as well. And this Fair is bringing everybody together, because if you're from Colombia or if  you are from Ecuador, if you are from any other part of the world and if you have a stand here,  it's going to bring you together, the community, and then sharing with other countries what the  culture is, what your food is. It's a lovely idea, beautiful idea. This is how actually the  Feria of International countries started in Fuengirola, because there were lots of  foreigners living in Fuengirola back in the early '90s. But they were living like  parallel lives and the council said that, why not just put everybody together rather than  living parallel lives? Get together in a one common ground and celebrate each country's  festival, each country's culture. And in 1994 the first Feria started. Back then  there were not many stalls, about 8 to 10, and now we have over 30 stalls and also we have  over a million visitors each year in this Feria.

[00:02:32]Okay. The first country I can see on  the left side is Italia. Should we go Italy? Let's go Italy. Yeah. Let's  go find out. There are Romans there.

[00:02:47]They're doing flamenco in there.

[00:02:58]Okay, Italian style was good. It wasn't  too busy because it's a small stall and I love the concept that they have  people dressed up in Roman style or Roman warriors. That was really good touch.  Over there, they're celebrating... Uruguay.

[00:03:30]Okay, the British one is quite big, but it's  not busy at the moment because I think they're enjoying the sunshine at the moment and they've  got a band there, meaning that their performers are not there yet. But I can imagine once the  performers are there, it will be packed and the vibe will be really good because, Brits know how  to party. Fish and chips €10, which is not bad, but the size does not look too big. Uh, bangers  and mash €9. The price is not too bad. It's just a little bit higher than what you would get  elsewhere. Wow, Greece is here. Growing up, I had an obsession with Greece. I love the culture,  the history, and I actually studied Ancient Greek in high school. I think it's "Kalimera"..  I think it is good morning... I think.

[00:04:33]So the thing is... you see a stall or a hall  for each of the countries and you go inside, they play the national music, you can see a  few stalls inside to buy some like jelwelry, shirts... but then just outside you have  the stall selling the food typical from the country. Oh Thailand! Arslan and I, we really  want to go to Thailand. We are crazy about it.

[00:05:05]What I've noticed is that a lot of  places, they all have performances, but they have different timings.  Obviously, they get tired.

[00:05:28]Finally, we are in Colombia!

[00:05:47]Wow, what a beautiful concept. Honestly, I'm  loving it because it's not just the culture of that country represented. It's like actually  people from those countries are there as well.

[00:05:58]It's quite genuine. I love it. We haven't even  reached halfway yet. But how amazing is this?

[00:06:07]It's like going from one country to  another country without even needing a passport. You're just going from one  country to another. It's just amazing!

[00:06:17]Oh, Japan. Oh, I really want to check Japan. Oh, they might have the chicken katsu that we  love so much. Oh, wow. Oh, look at this!

[00:06:45]It's a bit quieter, obviously. I think it's  the first year they´ve done Japan. That's why it's not as busy. Of course, it's not  going to be party animal like they have in other places like in South America. So  far, Colombia is the winner, isn't it?

[00:07:01]Mexico. Oh, Mexico. Let's go, Mexico.

[00:07:16]Julian is right. Every time you go to one of the  South American stalls, oh my god, the energy and it just makes you dance yourself. The moment  you go in, you feel like you want to dance. and they've done a really great job by promoting their  own countries. The atmosphere is superb. 10 by 10.

[00:08:28]There's a rock band going on in Ireland.  Then over there you have Ecuador. I hope Brazil doesn't disappoint me, because we  have very high expectations for Brazil.

[00:08:39]That's actually one of our top destinations to go.

[00:08:56]We cannot not go to Spain, especially with the  flamenco and everything going on. Hopefully, it's going to be great inside. Come check it out!

[00:09:29]Yeah, Spain lived up to the expectation. It was  really good. Actually... This was my parents' first car... That was the very first car my  parents had. Every everybody in Spain had that car in the 70s and 80s. I really loved it  because it's a mix of cultures. Everybody comes together and different cultures, different  languages, different food, different dances, different music all in one place and everybody's  happy. You don't really see any problem. Everyone is just happy. Everybody's having fun. That's  the thing about Costa del Sol that they've got, it's very international. We always  say that. Oh, look at that!

[00:10:16]hey, so yeah, I was saying that Costa del Sol is  very international and that's the beauty about it, that we have so many cultures living in this  strip.. literally Costa del Sol is just a strip from Nerja all the way to Estepona and Gibraltar.  We have so much diversity here and this is the proof. This is the the highlight of that diversity  that everything comes together and make such a beautiful atmosphere. Costa del Sol is definitely  one of the best places in the world for everybody!

[00:11:08]Look at this. We're on the runway of Gibraltar´s  Airport. The terminal is just behind me and this is the actual runway. Every time we come here, we  get really excited because we park outside. Now, it's only about 10 minutes walk, which is  completely doable because if you're coming on the car and you want to park inside Gibraltar, it can  take sometimes over 10 minutes just to get through the border queues. Very soon the border fence is  coming down. That means that the border itself, the border control is moving to Gibraltar´s  airport and the ferry terminal. Meaning that traveling between Gibraltar itself and Spain is  going to be like any Shenzhen area. That's how it's supposed to be. But when it happens, that's  when exactly we would know the full details.

[00:11:55]I've been wanting to come Gibraltar, ever since I  knew the fence was coming down, because last time we came here to Gibraltar a couple of months ago,  one of the shopkeepers told us that once the fence comes down, the prices are going to go up. So, it  won't be a place with reduced tax system, because prices will match the ones in Spain just cross the  border. As soon as you ge to Gibraltar, the main area, you have this massive plaza and you have  the typical fish and chips, you have burgers.

[00:12:22]But here, this is the high street and it's like  being back in the UK but with the Spanish weather.

[00:12:33]This shows you how big Gibraltar is.

[00:12:38]This is the rock of Gibraltar, the whole  Rock. Then you come through here. That's Spain. You cross through here. That's  where we were going through the terminal, the landing for the planes. So you go here and now  we´re in the high street. It's not really that big of a rock. You can see this in one day really.  But it's so exciting because, just two days ago we were at the International Fair in Fuengirola  and today we are in a British overseas territory and it is in the same strip of land, in Costa del  Sol, because not many people know about this but Gibraltar is really in Costa del Sol. We live in  Estepona, Benahavis area and to get here it was just under an hour. If you come to Costa del Sol  you have to make a day out here in Gibraltar. But remember this! To get in here you have to bring  your passport, especially if you haven't got a Spanish ID. Coming here you will see lots of signs  that will remind you of being in Britain. For example one of these kind of paintings graffiti  out here. And also the architecture here is very English as well. And straight away when you enter,  you will see the red phone box. Very typical from the UK. That's what makes me think that how many  places in Spain, how many coasts can claim this?

[00:13:53]An overseas territory, within the area, which  changes the environment completely. Look at that!

[00:14:03]There are four things I want to check. Of  course, Swaroski because there's a figurine from Beauty and the Beast I really want to get.  Also, I want to see the price of my perfume. I want to see the prices of video games and also  I want to have a look at a couple of more things to see if it's worth buying them here or just  get them in Spain. Right, I just went inside to double check the prices for two games. In  Spain is approximately €70. here it´s about, with the conversion rate at the moment, it´s about  €60. But we also saw the Nintendo Switch 2 which we recently bought my mom as well for Mother's  Day, a Switch 2 just a few days ago and we paid approximately €500 without a game. Here with  a game is €430. So I could have waited a bit longer just come to Gibraltar is €70 cheaper  with a game. So actually you're saving over €100. However, if I'm not mistaken, there is  a limit that you can take out of the Rock. So, if you come shopping here and think, "Oh, I'm  going to buy the entire Rock." Be careful because then at border control, they might be checking  your trunk or your bags and if they see that you exceeded the limit, they might fine you or  they might not let you get out with the goods.

[00:15:15]They actually have the figurine I've been  looking for that is always sold out in Marbella, but I can buy it online and here  it´s slightly cheaper of course, but with the discount that they give me for  being a loyalty customer, it's cheaper. So, I would just order it online. But it's good to  know that for example, if you want to buy things here, you can get a really good bargain. A lot  of people come here to buy tobacco and alcohol, because tobacco and alcohol prices here are  much cheaper even compared to Spain prices.

[00:15:44]That's surprising. But I'm not here looking  for anything in specific. But perfumes, that is something which is getting more expensive  every year. And Gibraltar has lots of perfume shops. I did have a bad experience once, but I'm  willing to give another go. Oh, Hotel Chocolat.

[00:16:00]Another of my favourite brands that you don't find  in Spain. Hola. Hello. As you know, Arslan and I lived in the UK for 18 years. And sometimes when  we are at home and we miss a bit of the British culture rather than jumping on a plane, we come  here because not only you find items cheaper here, but you also have some restaurants here, some  food that you would not be able to find in Spain.

[00:16:23]For example, Wagamama. Every time we come to  Gibraltar, we try to go Wagamamas because it just brings us back to those memories, those tastes we  had in the UK. Also the typical fish and chips, but also one thing we really miss about the UK is  the Sunday roast dinners. And here you can go for a Sunday roast, but also at the same time, I know  it's hot, but you can have it at the terrace. It's like Spain and UK had a baby, a fusion, and  that's Gibraltar. And that's why living here in Spain, if you miss a bit of that, you know,  nostalgia living in the UK, you can come here.

[00:17:02]Look at the architecture and the statues here.  Very much of English heritage and just outside is very Spanish and just here it's a brilliant  mixture. Okay, the perfume TomFord  Noir extreme 100 ml is €128 here and 150 ml is for €160, which is cheaper normally here compared  to Spain but at the moment our favourite outlet, Primor in Spain, they have a massive sale on  and for that reason the price at the moment is matching nearly same price here, but I was  speaking to the shopkeeper and asked him what's going to happen when the fence comes down  and the prices go up. The shopkeeper told told me that it is going to affect and it will  definitely affect the buying price for them, meaning that somebody has to pay the price  and the shopkeeper told me that they are willing to take the hit themselves, because  otherwise if the price difference is not here, there's no price difference between Spain and  Gibraltar... they would loose lots of customers and there will be no point of people coming here  to do shopping. So they are willing to take the hit. Sadly we're going back home empty-handed,  because to be fair the video game I'm saving like €15. The perfume more or less the same price in  Primor. Swarovski that's actually cheaper because I'm a loyal customer. They give me 20% discount.  If you want to buy an item, it's worth double checking here in Gibraltar, if you live nearby,  because you might be saving a lot of money, especially if you like Apple products, because  they have an Apple store here. And if you want to get an iPhone or if you want to get a MacBook,  it might be worth considering buying it here.

[00:18:44]But keep in mind that limit I told you about,  before you get into trouble leaving the border.

[00:18:53]On the way back, we can stop by in Baños  de Hedionda, which is the thermal springs and have a dip over there. It's  a lovely area. I love it. Every time I have a free moment and we are  passing by, I love to stop over there.

[00:19:10]Now the summer is coming, nearly here upon us,  we have packed our bag and chairs for the beach in the car and we always find places to go to,  like this one in the middle of nature. It is absolutely beautiful. Every time I come here,  not only because we go to the thermal springs, but the journey around here, walking to the  thermal spring, it is such a beautiful place.

[00:19:31]It is one of those places that brings peace to  you. It brings calm to you. And this area also have quite a few walking trails. This is a very  good way to either start your day or to end your day. You can come here in the morning, sunrise,  go for a run, and then go for a swim. It's very good for your skin because, it's got a lot of  sulfur. And legend says that Julius Caesar came here when he had a skin disease. And by bathing  in these waters it cured it. And in honor and to thank the local people, he actually founded  the city or the town we see in the hills, Casares from Cesar. We also like to come here  at sunset time, around now, because it gets a bit quieter. Yes, of course it's not as warm, so  the water temperature is going to be a bit cold, but it's a lot quieter now. There's not much  people around. In the summer, it gets really busy here. And even though it's free to come,  you have to book the time slot online. But out of the peak season, like we are now, you can come  at any time and spend as much time as you want.

[00:20:34]This is the main building. It's a very small  building, but this is where the water is actually coming out from, from underground. It  comes out from there, goes into this little pool and cascades down with the mini waterfall  and then it joins a river down there.

[00:20:52]And now we're going to go into the room  part, which is the actual Roman bath, and show you what's inside like. It's  like a little area and sometimes when we come here we've actually seen little  turtles swimming around going outside, but this is the main bit. This  is the wow bit. Come inside.

[00:21:14]You can see the bricks over there. You can tell  that it's from years, centuries ago. And let me have a quick look at the water. It's not too  bad actually. I thought it would be freezing, but it's not too bad. People sit down here.  They sunbathe when the sun is out, and other people are going in and out from here and from  there. So, it's not a massive area. Little room, but it's a really good feeling. Okay, I'm  not going to talk. I'm just going to jump in.

[00:21:46]It is cold. Wow! I was supposed to  jump in, but Okay, wait... One, two... Oh, it's good. Wow. Arslan´s reaction didn´t  really convinced me, because by the look of his face, the water was very, very cold. So, what I'm  going to do, I got my swim shorts ready. I'm going to test the water here, because it's getting  late now. It's not the heat of the summer yet, but this water is so good for you. So  that's why I still want to do it. Let's see.

[00:22:36]Wow. This is what you call a free spa day  in nature. And what best to put on your skin that things mother nature's giving to  you. So the trick is... what many people do, or what I do when I come here, get a  stone and then grab it from the wall like this. Sometimes you have to put a  bit of water. I think there´s a bit of water here and just put in your skin  like that and it's so good for you.

[00:23:07]His makeup is ready. Once you're waiting for your  beauty treatment to be absorbed into your skin, and also it's an opportunity for  me to warm up a little bit before I jump into the freezing water,  let's go for a wander around here.

Look at that. The colour of the water, you can see that the colour  is a bit whitish because that is the sulforic water. That's the sulfur in there. But then look  at this bridge. Roman bridge is still standing.

[00:24:14]Well, I finally got in the water and it's cold.  It's not freezing cold, but it's cold. My god.

[00:24:25]Healthy water, healthy mud. in a very  old environment with lots of history.

[00:24:39]Wow. Our muscles feel a lot more relaxed. Our skin  is a lot smoother and our mind is a lot clearer, because here, coming here is not just for you to  relax, for your body, for your skin. It's also for your mind. The only downside now is that we  are going to have to walk 15 minutes to the car.

[00:24:56]But still, it's a beautiful walk surrounded  by beautiful nature, especially the sound of birds. I don't know if you can hear them, but  they are replying back to us. We were whistling back to them and they were doing exactly the  same noise back to us. But in only 15 minutes, we'll be back home in the car. We're going to  order some takeaway. We're going to watch a nice movie. And tomorrow, we will enjoy another  beautiful day in Costa del Sol. Thank you very much for watching.
