William Desmond argues that finitude cannot be understood through the dominant continental philosophical framing of 'imminence,' as he rejects the notion of a closed imminent frame, instead proposing that the frame is perforated and porous, suggesting a more complex understanding of human limitation that transcends traditional philosophical boundaries.

William Desmond on FinitudeAñadido:
I certainly think of my work as a philosophy of finitude, but how one understands finitude is the is is the difficult question. And whether the framing of finitude as a framing of imminence as it has been so dominantly in continental philosophy, I I reject it in fact. I I don't think that there's any imminent frame that can be closed in on itself. I think the so-called imminent frame is perforated. It's it's it's it's porous. It's it's not the way to go about things and I I can see that Foucault doesn't do that at all, but he he he's he's he's he's he's he's struggling with this question in the terms that he brings to the issue.
