Big Lance provides a visceral exposé of a system that prioritizes profit over rehabilitation, effectively turning human lives into disposable commodities. It is a sobering indictment of the American carceral state’s systemic failure to serve anything but its own bottom line.

Inside America’s Prison Crisis本站添加:
Man, what's up everybody? You're tuned in to another episode of Off the Yard.
I'm your host Big Lance and today we're talking about overcrowding, understaff, prison violence, man. How it starts, how it escalates and what type of detrimental shit can happen when all these things occur, man. So, without further ado, pop the popcorn. Put the kids to bed. Let's go, baby.
Got to fuck you. I'm already dead.
Real quick, man. To all the new subscribers and the people that are new to the channel, thank you for showing up, man, and tuning in and tapping in to some of the best prison content there is on YouTube, if I do say so myself. And if you haven't already, hit that notification bell. Please like, hype the video up if you can, bro. I really do appreciate it, man. It helps us out around here. Without further ado, let's talk about prison.
Anyway, I was reading earlier about how the BOP, which is the Federal Bureau of Prisons, is putting some new mandates, some restrictions, some all the things, doing all the things.
Now, when you start to try to revamp and reassess and readjust things in a very particularly fast manner, you know what tends to happen? Bullshit happens.
That's what happens. People get locked down for no reason. People are starting to try to understand why their routine has changed. Because real quick, let me explain to you how to do time for people that might be interested in it. Maybe you're headed that way. Maybe you just, you know, have some burning desire to know what prison's like. It's all about routine, man. Routine, routine, routine.
And if you don't have a a stable routine, your time is going to be chaotic.
And that's no good. A an individual that that knows how to do his time right, is going to have his day pretty much structured, right? He's going to have when he wakes up, when he goes and eats.
He might even have it down to the time when he takes a shit. Who knows? But that's how I did my time. I did almost 14 years. So that's why this is such an important thing to talk about because we can talk about all things, man. All the crazy stories and all that, but none of those things happen. Most of those things won't happen if this doesn't happen.
So I'm I'mma give you a an instance, right? The last time I went to prison, I was sentenced to eight years. I was stuck in a county jail for three years.
Some of these county jails, you can be there for up to five years. That's a long time in county jail. County jails are not set up, designed, and operated for longevity. They're there for you to go to court, hit trial, get your time, move on to the next stop, baby. Now, because of federal grants and funding and basically greed through the states and counties and cities, that's why you can stay here this long. They now have federal uh holding blocks and things like that for ICE inmates and people who are fighting federal cases. My jail, the one that I was in last time, which was Raphandic Regional Jail, a shit hole. It is bought, owned, and built by the judges and the district attorneys and everything. So, they make money off of us being there. So, that place is some shit. Them people that owned and operated are some shit. And it's a conflict of interest cuz there's no way you can tell me that's not uh wrong for the guy who's going to make money off of me being sentenced there to be able to sentence me there. Doesn't make sense to me. I think it's fucked up. But I digress.
I digress. All right. Now, the thing is this. When you have uh too many people, that jail ain't meant to hold as many people as it does. You got two to three people in one sale. This cell was designed barely for one person, but you start putting two people in there. Now you got a third person who sleeps on the floor on a boat. It's a big plastic bed thing apparatus that it's supposed to be temporary. But I know dudes that rode the boat for over a year. That shit ain't right, man. And what's even more messed up is if you're on a states side, which is where I was, your trays are barely lunchables that you feed a child, right? I'm 250 pounds.
Do you understand that? Uh, two hot dogs is not enough to to to to appease an appetite. It's going to make me violent.
It's going to make me hostile. It's going to make me angry. Now, you go to the federal side, they're getting four hot dogs. They're getting two extra size of beans, two cakes. Everything's double because it's federally granted.
Doesn't that tell you something? It I mean, that right there is right in your face. how greedy these judges and and attorneys are, bro. Right? They're just full of shit and greedy. They don't care about anybody being um rehabilitated.
They don't want that. It's a joke. And for you people out there in the world to actually believe that horseshit, man, the reason that you have so much crime in in America isn't all the way the the the convict's fault, bro. I'm letting you know that. They make it so entirely impossible and difficult for guys when they come home. They take your license from you. They take all the things. They don't give you any housing. You're you're stuck out there. They give you $25 and a pat on the ass. Have a good day. And then what they do is they make it so hard for you to get a job that basically you get caught up in the revolving door cuz guess what? We got to eat just like you do. We got kids to feed just like you do. And it isn't that we don't want to work. It isn't that we don't want to be productive members of society, bro. What it is is that they make it so entirely impossible for us to do so that we end up breaking the law because starvation is a motherfucker, bro. Okay? And if you haven't ever felt that what a real hunger pain feels like, then you have no idea what I'm talking about. But you society need to start really checking these people, man. The people that are higher ups, the administration, the people that are in charge of the BOP, for instance. Now, what they're talking about doing is locking them down more. Let's lock them down more. In this county jail that I was in for three years, I didn't see the sunlight for three years. I didn't smell fresh air for three years before I was sent to prison where I could walk around outside a little bit. Right now, my skin was so white and pale from no vitamin D that I was damn near translucent. My first day outside, my skin burnt so bad it peeled the top of my head back and I got a fucking puppet on the top of my head, bro.
That shit's not healthy. It's not. They feed you garbage and and they they're already skimming, man. They're already giving you bare minimum. Now they're trying to take even that. So you tell me whose fault is that you got a bunch of pissed-off angry inmates coming out of prison that been drugged and and and is treated like Hannibal Lecter for the last 10 years. What do you think it's going to do to your psyche, bro? I was in level fives. I was really on supermax compounds, bro. I'm not West Wis. I don't make this shit up, dude. I'm keeping it real with y'all. I'm telling you from experience and sitting in them places. That's fucked up, man. We have to basically go on starvation and hunger strikes in order to get anything accomplished. That's sad, bro. It's sad that we're willing to do that. We're willing to starve ourselves so we can have education. We're willing to starve ourselves so we can get adequate wreck time. We're willing to starve ourselves so we can get adequate nutrition.
Do you understand the level of like just depravity or or just hopelessness that you got to have to literally say listen I'm going to risk starving myself literally till I'm not here anymore to make a point but they'll say that oh so these guys are just a victim of recidivism they're doing it to themselves they're make they're just making bad choices bullshit man you take somebody who comes from okay I come from impoverished childhood Right? Didn't have a lot growing up. My family sure as hell to have money to get me out of certain shit like some of these rich people do. Right? Their kids are just bad as us. We just ain't got the money to get ourselves out of it. So they see that at a very young age, right? Say, "Okay, we got one."
So they put you through juvie. That's your first initiation. Boom. Right? Then after you are, you know, you become privy to how an inmate secure himself, they let you back out. Now they're going to make it hard for you. you end up going back to prison because you have no skills as a young man. You didn't, you know, and yes, you might have made some bad choices when you're young. Sure, we all do, bro. We all do.
But the reason that you continuously, most of us keep messing up is because we have no choice. We feel like we don't have any options. They they they don't want you to get um better, man, because they're not going to make any money off of you. That's curing the problem. It's just like cancer. It's just like AIDS.
It's just like anything else. They got the cure for that shit. They got cures for all of it. There's not one sickness in this world that is out there that they don't have a cure for because you don't hear about the rich people going through that shit. Not really. So, that's another video, guys. But right now, I'm just trying to paint a quick picture for you, man, so you can understand exactly where I'm going with this. The BOP, the Bureau of Prisons, is probably one of the most corrupt uh things in the government. They are intertwined with the rap industry. They're intertwined with the the the liquor store on every corner in the hood. All that shit, man.
They're all there part of it all because it's a money-m commodity and it's one of the biggest money-making commodities in this country, prisons. It's it's warehousing. It's free labor. the guy they're talking about that uh that off Julio Fulio, they were saying that they need young guys with a strong back to go pick cotton in their fields. Are you serious? Are you serious, bro? Did he really say that? Did he really get on the national platform and say that in the year 2026?
Unbelievable. Unbelievable. So anyway, I digress. Again, I spent over half my life in these places. I'm almost 50. Okay. And I know exactly where they're going with this.
One thing in that jail that they would always say to us, we'd be like, "Hey, because we only come out maybe three hours a day, if that, if we're lucky."
Now, what they would do is it'd be time for us to come out. No doors will pop.
Boom, boom, boom. We're like, "What's up?" They'd be like, "Oh, low short stash." So, they are such short of staff that if one person calls out or if uh they just don't feel like fucking letting you out, you're going to stay in that cell days at a time, guys. days, not just by yourself where you can maybe lay around, scratch your nuts, and just do your thing. You're in there with two other guys in a in a in a room that's got a it's a bathroom, guys. Go look at your guest bathroom. It's not even a full bathroom. It's the guest bathroom.
Now, you put two other people in there and you're going to be smelling each other's farts. You're going to be watching each other smack your lips, right? You I mean, it's just aggravating beyond belief.
Now, do that for 10 years.
Do you not think that that's going to cause you to have some sort of uh mental issues, bro?
I think so. So, this this underst staffing that they're proposing once again or these mandates that they're saying, well, that these these the the food and they're just revising everything. They're going to make it worse on the inmates, guys.
Um, and we're we're very close. We're we're teetering on uh you know, some of these third world prisons. Now, you look at like CCAT, I did a video on that, right? The one in Al Salvador.
That's where they I think they're heading with it.
How is that going to make a productive member of society? How is something like that going to take an 18, 19 year old kid and turn him into a law-abiding citizen? It's not. It's going to make a better criminal. Right? So remember this guys, when you're starting to see all these uh we're cracking down on and cracking down this, we need to crack down on them. They're the ones that need to be cracked down on. It isn't that you're always going to have impoverished people. You're always gonna have people who lose their temper.
You're always going to have people who um don't make the best decisions, right?
But there's ways to correct that and there's ways that you can just perpetuate it and make it worse. Do you think that they really give a shit about us? No, they don't. And just as they don't give a shit about us, they don't give a shit about you. They don't care about what happens when these criminals or these animals that they're making go out and hurt one of y'all. Please understand that. It isn't just about us, guys. It's about the safety and security of society. Because when they create this monster, they can't control that monster. They can't stop him from doing nothing. They only can they can only punish him once he's done it.
And then it's the little old lady who gets her gets her head cracked with a hammer in her pocketbook taken. Or it's the family gets tied up because some dude loses his mind cuz he he tweaking out and and do a Ricky Gray kids getting all the things, man. They want the things. They don't care about you either. So don't get in your mind like, "Oh, they're they're they're incarcerating the animals to protect society." They don't give a fuck about society. They don't give a fuck about me. They don't give a fuck about you.
So you can go on believing THIS IS ASSHOLE, PRESIDENT, or whoever else, man. But I promise you, you are the furthest thing from their mind. Your safety doesn't matter to them. Your freedom doesn't matter to them. Because if you go and mess up and break the law, they're going to PUT YOU IN THE SAME JUNGLE THAT I grew up in, and it'll make you the same animal that I was.
Do you understand? So when they're voting and and doing all these things, man, keep that shit in mind, bro. Stop believing the horseshit.
Stop believing that we're on one side and you're on the other. We're all part of the same team, man. It ain't us against us, bro. And as long as they keep pitting us against each other, we're never going to look at them.
They're corrupt, man. They're making money off of our years incarcerated and your pain. Because not only do people get hurt during crimes, but families get torn apart because people fathers and sons and brothers and husbands and all the things but get ripped apart from their families. Now you got these kids growing up without a dad.
Now you got this woman out here trying to raise these damn kids without a husband. Now you got a mom whose only son's doing a 100 goddamn years because they listen to some rap.
Why do you think that all of a sudden in the 80s and 90s rap turned, man? Because they saw an avenue. They saw a way to make money. Let's take this music and make it something so bad and so heinous and then push it. Let's Let's PROMOTE GANG VIOLENCE. LET'S PROMOTE all this shit.
They don't care, bro. They don't care.
It's all about them. It's all about them. And as long as we never speak up about it, it's always going to be about them.
All you can do is what, man? is stay up, stay out, stay sucker free, baby. Hey, look, I'm Big Lance. This is off the yard, man. Ain't no scripts, ain't no characters, man. Just my pain, my truth, dude. Hey, and if you don't know, you better start listening, baby. Much love to the gladiator gang. Salute to all you A1 from day one, baby. You know, till next time. Let's go.
