[00:00:01]Hi guys. Today we're going to be going over the world geography a unit 2 portfolio.

[00:00:09]This assignment is located in unit 2 lesson 8. It is the natural resources portfolio. You can view this uh assignment in your planner or using the course outline button in the course.

[00:00:29]This assignment is concentrating on how natural resources are important to countries around the world for construction industry um and have impacts on the economic success of countries. Uh this particular portfolio is going to look at lumber and how in the years um 2020 2021 during the CO 19 pandemic u lumber skyrocketed the price of lumber and it impacted um construction cost worldwide.

[00:01:06]So in this portfolio you're going to look at some of the effects of this uh global shortage of lumber during this time period.

[00:01:17]You can do the assignment as written in the lesson. Um if you click on it, it will give you this worksheet that you can download and fill out. Um and um it is fine to turn in in the Dropbox. But why would you do that when we have modified it for you to make it easier?

[00:01:38]You can find this modified template on the lesson intro page and also on the message board.

[00:01:46]This template opens up in Google Slides and you will have to click to edit the document. Um, make your own copy and edit the document. If you need some help doing that, you can click on this little YouTube link right here and it will show you how to edit documents that we have created for you in uh Google Slides.

[00:02:11]You can customize this document to look however you'd like to, but make sure that your name is on the first slide here.

[00:02:21]On the second slide, it simply asks you to study this graphic and then write a paragraph in this text box describing um something that you see in the graphic or how the distribution of lumber affects the global economy. Here um this link is just a link to the um graphic in case you wanted to click on that.

[00:02:47]The next part of the assignment is to watch this video. It is about 10 to 12 minutes long, but if you watch the video, it will really describe what is happening with the lumber shortage in 2021.

[00:03:00]And um you can take notes as you watch it or you can um you know, stop it and start it and rewatch it again. But this is really what you're going to um want to look at to write your paragraph on the next slide.

[00:03:15]On this next slide here, you write a paragraph, at least three full sentences explaining the lumber shortage of 2020 2021 and how it related to the global pandemic. That is going to be what that video is about. So essentially, you're writing the main idea or summary of that recording. You could also go and look at um other resources, but all you really need is that recording.

[00:03:45]As most of you know, there is a required check-in each semester with every teacher. And part of this assignment is to book a call or make a call with your teacher to discuss this assignment. Um, so for full credit on this assignment, you have to complete a call with your teacher. Here are your teacher's phone numbers and um or you can book me uh links. That's also on the template. So, you should be able to find that. You can also attend tutoring sessions um daily at 11:30 um or um just what mail your teachers for their office hour time. But you have to complete uh the call uh with your teacher to receive full credit on this assignment.

[00:04:34]To turn in your assignment, you want to download it as a PDF. So in Google Slides, you'll go up to the file button and click download. And then over download, you'll want to click uh as a PDF document. This takes up less space in the Dropbox and is easier for us to open. So that's why we ask you to download it as a PDF.

[00:05:02]After you've downloaded it to your computer, you want to go to the last page, page 11 of 11 um on uh the unit 2 lesson 8 uh portfolio lesson. And here you have the Dropbox where you can upload the file into the Dropbox and save. and then it will go to our inbox to be graded.
