hi there students Johnny on the spot a noun okay a Johnny on the spot is somebody who is always willing to respond somebody who's always ready to perform a service somebody who is always ready willing and able to respond in an emergency so he's my Johnny on the spot he's always there when I need him he's always at hand whenever needed um so life for a Johnny on the spot well it means you need to be able to drop everything at a moment's notice this is somebody who is available and re and ready for action Sue was my Johnny on the spot when um I I when I I had an accident and had to go to hospital and she looked after everything for me um so a Johnny on the spot he's always there at the right time he's a real Johnny on the spot he's always available when needed to help you so on the spot is at the place where an event is happening or has recently happened so I called the fire brigade and they were on the spot within five minutes but a Johnny on the spot who is ready ready for something at the time he's needed or at the time they are needed this is somebody who's always on hand to perform a service to seize an opportunity to deal with an emergency um this is a bit of a a man Friday I always um I'm a big fan of Jeeves and Worcester and Jeeves seems to always be uh berti worcester's Johnny on the spot let's see Johnny um I think is the idea of the average Joe the average person and Johnny is ready to be available when whenever whenever needed I think this phrase first appeared in the United states in the the late 19th century um so yes my my personal assistant is my Johnny on the spot because very often I can't be in two places at once somebody who's always ready willing and able um the plumber we called was was a a Johnny on the spot when the when the pipe burst he fixed it immediately um um yeah I'm always glad to be a Johnny on the spot for you when when when you have a problem um okay so it's a person who's got to be R who's going to be you can rely on in any situation when um my son is all always so reliable he's always there when I need him he's a real Johnny on the spot it's a fitting title uh for him uh this is somebody is always always there always up to up up to helping you with the job to get you out of the fix it's uh but maybe your your man Friday or um your the person who's all always there there to help you um and in life yeah there are times when we really do need a Johnny on the spot so what about formality Johnny on the SP spot I'm going to give this a Forin formality it's rarely fairly informal um remember this is an American phrase as well I think you could use it image English though I think people would understand it as well um yeah Johnny on the spot has to go to the place where they're needed and uh re resolve the problem um when when the uh roof roof started leaking um my uh one of my friends came around and she was a real Johnny on the spot because she um ma managed to catch all the water that was Dripping into the house okay so Johnny on Johnny on the spot
