Uganda Traveller Isolated In Bengaluru Amid Ebola Concerns

[00:00:05]The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is closely monitoring the evolving Ebola virus disease situation in view of recent outbreaks reported in parts of Africa.

[00:00:16]>> [music] >> Exercising abundant caution, one individual with recent travel history from Uganda who reported mild symptoms of body [music] ache has been placed under isolation at the state-run epidemic diseases hospital in Bengaluru for observation and further evaluation.

[00:00:32]The [music] individual is in a healthy condition till now apart from mild body ache. Reportedly, [music] a sample has been collected and sent to the National Institute of Virology for laboratory testing and the test results are awaited. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in [music] coordination with the concerned state authorities, is maintaining close surveillance and [music] all necessary public health protocols are being followed in accordance with WHO guidelines. At present, no case of Ebola [music] virus disease has been confirmed in India. The government remains vigilant and prepared with screening and surveillance measures continuing [music] at all designated points of entry and across the public health system. Citizens are advised not to panic, avoid spreading [music] misinformation, and to rely only on official sources for information, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
