Dyer brilliantly decodes these films as psychological maps, turning the occult into a mirror for the subconscious. It is a sharp, deep dive that finds profound meaning in the shadows of the silver screen.

[music] >> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right. What's up? Welcome. Today we return to movies. We're back to classic Jay and Jamie where we dissect films and tell you all the dirty deets and what's really going on, the details, the esoteric, the absurd, the psychological warfare, the espionage. It's all present when Jay and Jamie are yapping. I feel like we're Buffy and Angel back for a collaboration.
>> Why am I Angel, dude?
>> You're Buffy.
>> Can I be Spike?
>> No, you're Buffy.
>> I'm Buffy. Okay.
>> And I'm the spin-off and I'm back for >> Oh, you're the spin-off. [laughter] >> Okay. I thought you meant uh you know, characters, but you mean you mean uh vibes?
>> Yes.
>> You mean corporate [ __ ] >> Yeah.
>> All right. Let's uh What are we going to do first? because we've got a couple new ones that many, many people requested over the years that we never got to. We had a lot of requests for the ritual and we had a lot of requests for As Above So Below and I'm proud to say we finally got to it. So, you guys are going to get your fill. You forever wanted us to do these and we finally got to it.
>> Uh, let's do Rosemary's Baby first.
>> Oh, I didn't know.
>> I mean, not Rosemary's Baby. Ninth Gate.
>> Yeah. So, Roman Palansky.
>> Roman Palansky. Of course, people probably know that Roman got uh in trouble for underage things and he fled the country. Many people have speculated over the years that there was some sort of a satanic element to the circles of Palansky because he was of course married to Sharon Tate. We've covered uh Eye of the Devil and the seemingly predictive elements of her in the movie being a ritual sacrifice and then a couple years later she ends up as a ritual sacrifice in the uh Manson trauma.
>> Mhm. I like Ninth Gate because Johnny Depp has my dream job >> to work uh for Satanist in a bookstore.
>> Uh not not exactly. Well, like um a esoteric book detective.
>> To be tracked down by lesbian demons.
>> No, esoteric book detective.
>> That's awesome. Which is funny because when we were watching this, we both realized that as they were naming some of these esoteric books, we had some on our shelf already. And you had this one, remember?
>> Demonology.
>> Yeah. I had Nicholas Rey's book, which I didn't even remember was named in this movie.
>> Yeah. So, they mentioned this one and then they mentioned this weird one which I happen to have for some reason.
Hypner, how do you say that? Hypneroto makia po polify.
>> I don't know. I've never even heard of that. But it's mentioned in the movie, which was crazy.
>> Well, I bought this because someone said it was the same thing backwards and forwards. It's some kind of like spell.
>> Mhm.
>> See the inside? It has all these kind of Yeah. There you go.
And that is teaching you how to deal with Amber Herd.
>> Yes. I don't even know what this is about.
>> Anyway, >> so you have book We have books now. I've actually read Nicholas Rey's book uh demonology, excuse me, demonology. And this is kind of in the vein if you guys know about the Malayas Malifocarum.
These are these texts that were written some centuries back about how to deal with witches. And it's funny because a lot of it is hyper superstitious. So, you know, it's telling you like I don't know what sage brush to fight the witches with when the witches are using their sage brush. It's like [clears throat] counter spell. It's just silly. It's like it's not that I wouldn't recommend engaging in battling Tik Tok uh or witch talk with Nicholas Ramy's strategies. Did you know that King James wrote a bunch of books about witches? And >> um No, I didn't know. I knew that. I think I was thinking of Henry VII, but no, I didn't know King James was uh Battling the [ __ ] >> Yeah.
[sighs] >> What? Uh and and these are just books that are referenced in the movie, which we had forgotten. So, we're doing a retrospective for for you guys that don't know what we're doing. since we covered ninthgate eyes wide shut exactly 10 years ago and that was one of the formative fundamental analyses for esoteric Hollywood part one uh it's a significant section of the first book it even made it obviously onto the cover we thought it would be fun to revisit Eyes White shut ninth gate 10 years later and include a couple more esoter films that we never got to and so we're doing the Roman Palansky 1999 film the ninth gate with John Depp and what is it? Mariel Hemingway, I think. And uh >> uh >> Christopher Lee.
>> Christopher. No. Uh >> Franklin Gella.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Commonly confused with Christopher Lee because they have the same sort of Dracula grandpa vibes.
>> They have the um esoteric aura. The Eldrich.
>> They're they're ancula >> attitude. Yeah.
>> Uncula.
>> Okay. Okay. So, this >> there's a homunculus and an uncleulus.
Get it? They're cuz they're not exactly grandpa, but they're not dad, >> right?
>> So, they're like >> they're talking.
>> Grand uncle.
>> Yeah.
>> Is there such thing as a grand uncle?
Who's your grandk?
Okay. Frank Langella is my grand uncle and Chris Lee is yours.
>> Christopher Lee.
>> Okay. Count Dookie.
>> Count Dooku.
>> Count Dookie.
>> Good one.
We're going full [laughter] full fourth grade.
>> Um, so this is Lion's Gate again.
>> Jamie loves to highlight Lionsgate films because they do have a tendency to be esoteric and satanic in many, many instances.
>> I think today's woke version it would be A24.
>> Oh yeah, probably.
>> Which is more of a independent but now kind of corporate.
>> Um, but anyway, so let's get into it.
What's going on? Um, >> so do you think the gates are dimensions?
>> Yeah, but they're dimensions that he's opening through his own ritual psycho drama process in himself.
>> Yes.
>> So the the gates aren't out there, they're in him.
>> Good point.
>> Mhm.
>> So he's entering the gates, the degrees, the dimensions, and it starts off with this rich guy unalivvening himself.
>> Yeah. Now we we find out that this is a fetish amongst the elite, the wealthy class, that they are obsessed with obtaining this devil's manual supposedly written by the devil. And if you can get a hold of this book or the right version of this book, you will have apotheiois.
The devil will grant you esoteric powers. You'll be your own sort of deity. You'll have immortality. Uh and this launches a search. which is sort of like the Amazing Race but with like gay esotericists trying to find this book.
Yeah. Across the globe.
>> Uh and John Depp is hired by Frank Langala who plays a billionaire publishing dude kind of like a Robert Maxwell. He's actually very Robert Maxwellian now that I think about it.
And he decides to hire John Depp to [clears throat] go chase down the copies of this esoteric text throughout Europe.
I think he goes to Spain and France and all these different places and he encounters the uh nobility and the billionaire class and lo and behold he ends up at various satanic ritual black mass o rg y parties. Keep in mind this came out right around the same time as eyes wide shut. In fact in my book I highlighted there's actually some scenes that are shot very parallel to uh Eyes Wide Shut. But both films have kind of mirror scenes. For example, when they're at the black mass, very reminiscent of the masked ball in Eyes Wide Shut. So, a lot of parallels between these two films. Of course, Eyes Wide Shot obviously way more more famous. But again, Kubri is over here doing, you know, his critique, but Roman Palansky was really in the circles of [clears throat] Manson and others. His older films, he talked about uh Luciferianism. Even in some of his fearless vampire killers, like the first comedies that he was making, he was very adamant about like mentioning and referring to pretty obscure esoteric topics. I don't think I can't think of another film in the 1950s or 60s that mentioned Luciferianism. So, yeah.
>> Um, okay. So, where are we at?
>> Um, did you know this is based on a novel called El Dumas? El Club Dumas.
>> Oh, I did remember that. I forgot that.
I think I mentioned that but I've not read this nor have I read Trump nolla for eyes wide shut but >> uh so it was like a rare manuscript by Alexander Dumasi Christo he wrote the three musketeers >> and that's what kind of inspire >> I don't think he's the author of that I think the book is named after him >> okay >> that's what I'm saying and Johnny Depp is this like uh unscrupulous book dealer. So he's shown like cheating people out of their >> inheritance and he goes to this lecture on demonism in the Middle Ages. Right.
>> Right. So he goes to attend Frank Langela's academic lecture on demons, demon worship [clears throat] in the Middle Ages. And it's interesting because his character is, like you said, unscrupulous. So, he's actually, if you pay attention, the mo he's he's one of the most demonic characters in the story, but he also is the fool character because this this narrative will reference the tarot deck pretty consistently.
>> And so, the ironically, the character that the devil favors isn't Frank Langella or uh the the wealthy woman who's part of the black mass or uh the old woman that talks about Z. Oh, jeez.
>> [laughter] >> The orgies, my orgy days are over. So the devil doesn't favor any of these people. He actually kind of likes John Dap. The devil appears as Muriel Hemingway as a woman. So that is also a >> surprise. I didn't following him the whole time.
>> Her devil.
>> Yeah, the devil is.
>> And she's helping him. But I I I think the thing is that what most people miss when they watch this movie, it's not about the book chase or the black mass.
It's about John Depp himself being initiated into deeper and deeper levels of like authentic Satanism >> because he's an unscrupulous character and he consistently is unscrupulous, >> right? And this actually ends up being why he's the true Satanist at the end of the film. Well, they even make a point to uh say that he even has no friends.
>> Yes.
>> Right. So, he's a loner. He is has no morals and is into the occult.
>> Yeah. He the very first scene he rips off an old guy who's dying uh for hundreds of thousands of dollars for his book collection.
>> Mhm.
>> And he the people that are selling the estate don't know how much the books are worth. So, we begin to see right away.
Um, he's also Does he give into lust? I can't remember if he gives So, there's like the seven deadly sins.
>> That's the last scene.
>> Oh, that's right. So, it's interesting because he doesn't give into lust until the very end, but um he's definitely greedy, definitely unscrupulous in a way, perhaps murderous. Um he certainly doesn't help anybody um throughout his quest, but go ahead. Uh >> well, he is hired to find out if this copy of a book is authentic. And what was it called? The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows 1666.
>> Yeah.
>> Right.
>> I mean, if you're going to have a satanic text, it can't come out. It can't come out in 1990. It has to be 1666. like that was.
>> But I mean the thing is the the book is also uh kind of a fraud too because throughout the film you think you're after this text and then they decode all this symbolism into various uh woodcuts in the book which are very similar to the tarot deck.
>> Mhm.
>> But at the end of the film it's not even really about the book because the book was really just a mcguffin to get you to uh the the lesbian Satan demon. Well, and to lead him Yeah. down this path of opening the nine gates of his psyche to the devil. Right.
>> Right.
>> Because again, the gates are his ritual process. Right. So, he's going through these phases about alchemical transformation in himself.
>> Uh opening up the portals and the gates so that he becomes more and more possessed and that's the end of the film. Spoiler alert is like his full and final possession. Mhm. Well, this reminded me of well, there's three copies of the 1666 book and uh there was supposed to be this esoteric book called the triangle book of St. Germaine. Do you ever hear about that? [laughter] So, Manly Peol talks about it and Jordan Maxwell talked about it and supposedly Manley had one in his private collection. Now, if you've read the book by Manley Pehole, you will be familiar with The Triangles of St. Jermaine, aka They Might Be Giants and Triangle Man.
>> That's my Jordan Maxwell.
>> Um, >> by the way, is this book predicting Amber Heard? Is Amber Heard the devil that comes [laughter] and screws up Captain Jack Sparrow's life?
>> Yes.
>> Gracious. Egracious.
>> What says silence is golden. Do you remember that?
>> Uh well, there's several occult references. I think I was referring to the sign of Hypocrates.
>> Oh. Uhhuh.
>> Like you're not supposed to you're not supposed to tell the esoteric secrets because then you're not truly esoteric.
So, >> but I think that's what I was referring to.
>> Okay, >> keep reading. Go ahead.
>> Uh, there was another book they mentioned, Delo Melenacon, written by Satan himself. That's probably >> that's the actual book that they're trying to find. Uh, is that that book?
And the other books are like copies or forgeries that have clues to the true book.
>> Mhm.
>> Um, but there's not actually a true book. I mean there is there might be one but the you are the book is the point.
The book is you and your life your story. This the the story is you become a written story. The devil writes your story. That's the point. [snorts] >> Turn around. It's like the never- ending story, right? You are in the >> except that the devil writes the story, right? And it has an end. [laughter] >> Never ending story.
>> The devil ending story. [laughter] These books can summon the devil apparently because I don't think it's that hard actually. You don't need all of these spell books and [snorts] uh incantations.
>> Well, it somehow John Depp summoned Emmer Heard. So, it worked. So, he did it.
>> What?
>> The knight in the woodcut makes the sign of Harpocres. Yeah.
>> Yeah. That's why silence is golden.
>> Yeah.
>> Okay. Keep reading. What's What's we got to get through these quick. Um, all the people wanting it are part of the ultra wealthy satanic elite.
>> Yeah, we talked about how it's it's nobility, it's billionaires, publishing people.
>> The more I think about it, I'm like, man, Frank Lulla's got to be like a Robert Maxwell cuz he's got a giant publishing billion dollar publishing front >> and he's involved in all this espionage.
He sends Hitman >> after John Depp and it's like >> a black dude with Remember in the 90s when black dudes had blonde hair >> like Pluto Nash like >> black dudes were a basketball player that had it.
>> Dennis Rodman Pluto Nash.
>> Um >> did he have it? Woody. No, not Woody.
>> I mean basically >> Wesley Snipes had it in demo.
>> Goldie that married Bork. Wesley Snipes had it.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, you know, >> that was a trend.
>> Black dudes was going uh full surf surf bro in the 1990s.
>> Oh, okay. So, all of these wood cuts, these everyone loves these. Like, what is that? Every a woodcut will get anybody's attention. Um >> I mean, they do look cool. You don't think they look cool?
>> No, they do, but it's like that will draw you in really fast.
He has to look at all of the different woodcuts and see what's different about them to see which one is a forgery and right uh which one was real and collect all of the >> Yeah.
>> icon images, right? The satanic icons and the woman on the woodcut rides the beast.
>> Yeah. And that's prophetic in the story because the woman that rides John Dat is the incarnation of Lucifer, right? So Muriel Hemingway playing the devil rides John Depp the beast. So Johnny Depp is the beast at the end. And uh that's why he when he sees all of these images in this these tarot deck sort of images he's he senses that these are all actually about him.
>> Mhm.
>> And a lot of the esoteric tradition whether it's gnostics or satanists they think that ritual psycho drama is actually just like everything that's happening is a projection of you. So, it's like you're in some big giant labyrinth and you got to solve your own labyrinth and then you figure out at the end, oh, you're god, dude. It's like that's the same revelation of all the esoteric sects. That's the same revelation here. [clears throat] >> That's like when you go through the um >> Rosacrruian Museum.
>> Rosacian Museum. And they're like, uh, go see God. And you go through this thing and and it's just a mirror.
>> Yes.
>> Mind blown, dude.
>> Yep. Go meet God. Dude, like whenever you were tithing as a kid, you were tithing to me cuz I'm God, dude. So like, give me some more tithe, bro.
Because like you were always your whole life tithing to me and praying to me, too, by the way, >> cuz I'm God, bro.
>> Yeah. It's like actually all just DMT bro stuff, dude. Like what if we're all God, but actually I'm the real all God.
>> Well, not [snorts] only that, but um some of the characters in the movie are also the uh woodcuts. Like the twins is the Gemini. That's Gemini and that's the twins. Yep, I remember that.
>> And he finds the initials on the woodcuts that he's supposed to collect have the letters LCF. Like that's so lame, dude.
>> Lucifer.
>> I hate it when they do that. My name is Louis Cipher. Is that Devil's Advocate?
Remember?
>> Uh or yeah, >> one of those devil movies and his name was Louis Cipher.
>> Why do you hate that? It's just so dumb.
Like [laughter] >> that's what literature always does though. Like >> uh Mr. Enigma, Jim Carrey in Batman.
>> Did you notice? Yeah. Mr. Enigma. Mr. E.
That is so dumb.
>> Mystery Enigma.
>> Yes.
>> You just now got that after like 30 years. So >> that's the way of me.
>> You're saying it's dumb and you didn't even get it for [laughter] your whole life. If you watch Batman and Robin in the 90s and you didn't even get it.
>> So LCF Oh, his stalker lady is reading How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Remember that? So >> yeah. So >> these laws to power kind of books uh are in all.
>> So the irony is that the actual satanic texts aren't these mystical things. It's Norman Vincent Peele's self-help stuff is the real Satanism because I mean it's just basically saying you're you're god.
You gotta manifest that [ __ ] bro. Y'all manifest that.
>> Well, also using psychology to manipulate people. That's >> Yeah, manipulating people is Yeah. And that's what John Depp is doing. By the way, she's not actually taller than me.
She's sitting on giant stacks of pillows.
>> I I have two shoes underneath.
>> She feels like it's a power move, >> right? And so she's setting the power by sitting on 20 damn pillows. [laughter] >> Go ahead. Um, someone killed the second book owner and tried to burn the book. The Baroness met the devil when she was 15 and it was love at first sight. So, here again we have uh European elite in some kind.
>> Yeah. The Austrian the German the German noble woman talks about being a Satanist since she was a since a child.
>> Yeah.
>> She claims that she saw the devil in, you know, he appeared to her. that confirmed her uh lifelong Satanism, but she's now confined to a wheelchair, but she has one of the copies of this mysterious text. But she's really an insignificant character at that except that it's funny when uh [laughter] the her condo catches on fire and her she's dead, but her little wheelchair goes crazy. It's kind of like a Mac and it's like Mac and Me, but like with a an old Satanist. I don't know.
>> You know what I'm talking about? Mac and Me.
>> Yeah. Falls off the cliff.
>> Yeah. And she's like rolling down the steps in her little wheelchair when [laughter] her condo she's dead and she's like Anyway, [snorts] >> why do you think there was a chic's headscarf in the glove box? What was that about? Do you remember that?
>> Yeah. Yeah, I told you that. It just they just stole a car from a rich guy.
>> Oh, okay. Okay.
>> So, it's nothing.
>> Uh it's funny how Latin is more magical.
Like if you want to do a spell or you know a a super prayer, it has to be in Latin.
>> Yeah. This is another way that you see kind of the silliness of Satanism because if Jesus, God, etc. don't exist and none of it's true, then why are you using a version of the Latin mass to invoke the devil?
>> Yeah.
>> Like, and if Jesus and God don't exist, then the devil doesn't exist. So, it really only makes sense as kind of a satire, I guess, which is what the Church of Satan type of stuff is. But if you're a serious Satanist, I mean, why would Latin matter? You're you're giving credence to the Roman Catholic system if you think that Latin is somehow like magically more powerful.
>> I think it just sounds cool to people.
>> You might as well speak it in Sumerian or Aadian or some kind of older Latin magical language. [snorts] Uh there's the actual Chateau de Rothschild in this movie.
>> Oh, I forgot that. That's right. When they do the uh Black Mass. So, here's Frank Langella with his Robert Maxwell publishing billion dollar publishing empire. Uh let me find here's the Baroness uh Kesler Battle Kesler, right?
>> Her orgy days are over.
>> My orgy days are over. Are you sure about that? Are you sure about that? You want to throw one last one in before you kick the bucket?
>> Nine.
>> Uh, where is the estate though? Oh, here we go.
>> It's the ninth.
>> Ninth gate. Get it.
>> The ninth gate.
>> Yeah, >> the ninth gay.
>> Ninth gay.
>> Gay.
>> The ninth.
>> Like gay. Dude, I wanted a picture of the mansion. We're not getting that.
Let's see. Let's try another trailer.
Let's try that here. Go ahead.
>> Uh, serpents all around. serpents on the tree on their altar. The Protestant Satanist looks like >> Well, it's also a tree of life. Yeah.
>> The altar is a giant, which is interesting. It's a giant tree of life, but the altar is also a bed for sex magic.
>> Mhm.
>> So, it's I I think it is kind of telling you like the elites are into sex magic.
>> The Protestant Satanist looks like a preacher.
>> I don't know what that means.
Oh, when when uh they have their black mass, it's like a sermon when Frank Langella comes in to tell them that they're all not they're all fake Satanists.
>> He shows up and he's like, "You're all phonies. You think you're Satanist with your robes." So, he's like he's doing like a reformed Satanism, a Protestant Satanism against the robes and [laughter] the images. Literally, it's funny. It's like >> he's like the Calvinist.
>> He's like the Calvinist Satanist. in Calvinism is pretty satanic, but uh >> that's funny.
>> We're too You're I'm trying your head's squished.
>> Okay, >> go ahead.
>> Don't squish my head.
>> So, yeah, he interrupts their black mass orgy. He killed the cult leader lady.
He drinks something and stands in the ring of fire and burns himself to death.
>> Well, he drinks gasoline cuz he thinks that Franklin Langella thinks he's opened the gate and now he has immortality. Oh.
>> So, he's going to show John Depp that You can't kill him. It's too late. He's already achieved it. But he's just insane. So whom the gods would destroy, they drive insane, right? So Frank Langella ends up killing himself uh in this climactic battle with John Depp at this castle. And >> look at his face.
>> It's out in the middle of Spain, right?
I don't know why they're in Spain, but >> it's a Rothschild thing.
>> Well, no, no, the No, the >> Oh, the castle.
>> The castle at the end. Yeah, >> the ruins, right?
>> Yeah.
>> But the mansion that they show with the OGY is is legit a Roth mansion.
>> The one that you see here. I mean, that's an interior, but the exterior of it. What's next? We We got to get through this.
>> Um, well, she does the SCX magic thing with him. And at the end, yes, there she is. She was part of the gate, the doorway to bring the evil. Well, she's the woman that rides the beast, John Depp.
>> And there's something weird about Go ahead.
>> Well, at the very end, they have a eight-ointed star. So, there's some um you know, goddess imagery right there.
Scarlet womanish.
>> Well, she It's interesting the whole time throughout the film, the devil is always appearing as a woman, right? in the novel or in the book that they're reading that they're trying to decode, it's kind of a classic image of the devil with a pitchfork and, you know, horns, but throughout the film, the devil is always Muriel Hemingway.
>> Uh, and so this might signify that the real satanic principle is stuff like the goddess worship Isis, etc. And yesterday on the stream when we covered Theosophy, we covered how, you know, her whole her most famous book towards the end of her life was Isis Unveiled. I have a two volume uh sing first edition up there on the shelf. So uh Blovas's ISIS unveiled is actually the real satanic plan for the 20th century in terms of promoting and bringing back goddess worship, Gaia, etc. That's where we get the modern 60s counterculture sort of new age feminist stuff out of uh Blovadski's Isis Unveiled.
>> Is that the end of ninth grade?
>> Yeah, that's it.
>> Yeah. So basically uh the end of it you get John Depp um achieving apotheiois and I don't know if this is the Mandela effect. I'm don't believe the Mandela effect but I know there is some version where there's a reference to the book of revelation. I don't know if the copy uh or the Amazon version I watched is like a trimmed down version or maybe I watched a director's cut but they actually have a ridiculous reference towards the end of the film to something out of the book of Revelation. And of course, Hollywood always has the worst interpretations of what what the apocalypse is about, >> but uh >> remember Constantine? That was so dumb, >> vaguely >> with Keanu.
>> Doesn't he have to stare into the eyes of a cat?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> I have to stare into the eyes of a [ __ ] and I can go to hell.
>> Yes. [laughter] >> Will you stare at this [ __ ] with me?
Oh, it's a metaphor. You stare at the [ __ ] you go to hell. Dude, it's a metaphor.
>> Don't ever look it in the eye.
[laughter] >> Don't look the [ __ ] in the eye.
>> Anyways, guys, if you would uh support the stream by using the super chat function. Super chats are done through Streamlabs. You can also super chat through YouTube natively should you feel so inclined.
But now again, I'm I'm rethinking my whole analysis. I just think the whole movie is about uh it's predictive programming for Amber Heard.
>> Amber Herd is heard >> the gate.
>> Amber Herd is the ninth gate. [laughter] >> Yeah.
>> And that's the [ __ ] that you don't stare at before you go to hell.
>> All right. We killing it today. Uh what's next? The ritual.
>> The ritual.
>> Yeah. This one I remembered watching uh a long time ago. Around the time I think Jamie and I started dating >> and he's doing it's eight or nine years ago.
Yeah. Yeah. Several of these people, by the way, have become kind of famous Hollywood or British Hollywood actors. I forget this guy's name, but this was a Netflix movie that um was okay. It was a little bit better than I expected. It's not the best movie, but a lot of you guys requested The Ritual over uh many years. So, let's get into it. What What do we have with The Ritual?
>> Well, this one is about being a coward.
[snorts] >> Exactly. I had forgotten what this was about. So, it was fun to go back and see that uh at least in 20 was this eight 10 years, this is 10 years agoish. Netflix could still kind of do stuff that wasn't super woke. And uh this one is just about a guy who's pretty much a freaking gaggot. Like the guy will [laughter] the guy will not uh back up his buddies uh for anything. And so the film begins with a uh holding up of a liquor store by white dudes cuz white dudes are always holding up liquor stores. So maybe it's a little woke, but um and then this guy freaks out and doesn't help his buddies. One of his buddies gets shot, another one gets like hit in the face or something. Uh, and this dude just hides by the chips. [laughter] He just hides over in the magazine aisle, you know, is over there flipping looking at at bop magazine while his friends are getting uh, you know, beat to [ __ ] And years later, we flash to them on a hike.
and they're on a hike to remember their bro who got killed in uh the convenience store debacle by the white thugs. Okay.
>> And so years later they're hiking and they're going to do a little bit of a you know tip the 40 >> to the white bro >> because they were at they were at a liquor store so they were they got a 40.
And like so many horror movies too, this is kind of like a virtue tale. So in the very beginning, uh the guy who was influenced by the cowardly guy is the one who went in the convenience store with him and got killed.
>> Yep.
>> Right. He's Everybody else is like, "No, I have to go home to my family." And the guy was like, "No."
>> Yeah.
>> And then >> and they're all kind of like they're nice, but they're all kind of like you're kind of a [ __ ] dude.
>> Like you're kind of a [ __ ] but we're going to let it go. But then eventually they can't let it go because they get lost in the woods.
>> Well, what one guy twists his ankle, so he's dead weight. And then they have to decide. It's like one of those movies where every decision is the wrong thing.
>> Mhm.
>> Right. And >> and it's all culminating in the [ __ ] friend.
>> Yeah.
>> It's like, wait a minute, you're like Jonah.
All of our curses are coming from you, right?
>> Remember Jonah when they throw him off of the boat?
>> Yeah. So basically, uh, don't have beta male soy [ __ ] friends because you're going to be cursed. [laughter] He's going to bring curses upon you.
>> And don't you think?
>> Yeah, totally.
>> Because uh they have to decide if they want to like do a shortcut or take the known route and then they convince him to do the shortcut and then >> which is what cowardice is like the shortcut.
>> Exactly.
>> The moral shortcut, you see.
>> Right.
Uh, and then they come across this like Blair Witch stuff.
>> Yes.
>> In the woods.
>> So, of course, everywhere in the woods, you've got little uh totems and ve in a horror movie there. That's just everywhere in the woods.
>> My mom is terrified of the woods because of horror movies.
>> Well, that's a real thing. People are scared of the ocean because of Jaws.
>> Yeah.
>> And um I mean, it's very unlikely that you're going to get a shark bite. She thinks cryptids and crazies all live in the woods.
>> So they come up upon this creepy cabin with the weird runes cuz they're in like Sweden or something.
>> Yeah, they're they're in some Nordic hiking place.
>> So they have ancient pagan ghoulies.
>> Yeah. walking around trolls and forest cryptic >> except there's it's just a bunch of weirdos out in the woods and they serve this >> demon basically there's like a sort of a >> a monster but the monster is really just a symbol for the cowardice of the dude >> I'll go back to that cuz that was actually kind of creepy that um headless effing >> yeah that part was interesting where'd it go >> so that thing was hanging out in the cabin where they had to stay the night, right? Would you stay the night with that thing?
>> He's like, "Steve Holt." He's doing the Steve Holt.
>> He light it on fire.
>> Um, so then they start to kind of like wise up and realize, >> well, the villagers imprison them and they're going to they're going to the villagers are going to feed him to the monster as a human sacrifice, >> right? Because the friends realize that this is all the one guy's fault.
>> Of course, again, your your [ __ ] friends are going to curse you, dude.
That's the And they're having all these trauma dreams and uh >> they're remembering and figuring out it's all because of you, dude.
>> Yeah. And the >> because you hid in the chip aisle.
>> And it's like a Wendyo kind of, right?
>> Uh kind of. I mean, it basically just eats you. It's this giant sort of It is kind of like a Wendyo. Yeah. Wo. David Oo.
>> And these Scandinavian hillbillies were crazy, dude. They're a savage. Remember?
They were they were I guess Vikingish but also kind of peasantish. So not really >> So would you rather be up against Appalachian hillbillies, Scandinavian hillbillies, Ozark hillbillies, or swamp people?
>> Well, if I'm in Ozarks, they say not to whistle.
>> That's >> But I see Appalachia. Yeah. Yeah.
>> You're not supposed to whistle cuz it'll bring them the boogers and >> paints >> the boohags and the boogers.
>> Yes.
>> But but if the whistles go woo woo, they won't come.
>> Okay.
[snorts] >> They're not afraid of whistle tips.
That's what I'm trying to say.
>> So my solution is whistle tips.
>> Whether I'm against Nordic, hints, boogers, and hoohags. Those are, by the way, the name that's real names. They're the they're called hints, boogers, boohags, >> booaddies, >> and boo daddies. [laughter] >> Those are the names of the Appalachian crypted creatures, right? Not joking.
>> The Scandinavian Boo Daddies [laughter] are the Boo Fjords, >> the Spin Daddies, >> the um IKEA [laughter] trolls.
>> Well, this monster in this movie does kind of look like an IKEA. It looks like he's put together like an IKEA object from a bunch of different objects.
>> Is the Scandinavian Blair Witch Could she take the um New England Blair Witch?
>> I don't win. You don't Does I mean a Blair Witch? Nothing even happens until the very end and it's like then she just runs at the camera and then all there is to it. So the whole thing is >> So just her her powers just running at you. So [laughter] that doesn't seem very threatening. I think I'll take her over whatever this is.
>> This actually had some like Midsummer.
>> Well, this was many years prior to Midsomer. So, I think this movie probably influenced Mids even though there's no monster, but you do have this idea of sort of Nordic uh, you know, human sacrifice types, you know, druid type stuff. You got the runes and all that. Um, again, it's I don't think it's a great movie, but it was okay for a Netflix movie 10 years ago. It was okay.
The crypted guy hangs you on a tree like um >> Odin.
>> Odin. And then they actually mention >> that he is the bastard offspring of Loki and grants extended life >> in this. Yeah.
>> Oh, I didn't remember that. Interesting.
Okay. So, they really are appealing to the Nordic mythology.
>> Okay. So, they are the cult of >> Okay.
>> Sweden. Uh he finally learns courage.
This reminded me of hereditary and Stephen King. Um, the woods is subconscious and savagery. He >> That's Jordan Peterson right there.
[laughter] >> I'm serious.
>> Yeah.
>> You know, the woods is like the chaos, you know. It's like you go in the woods and it's like there's, you know, poison ivy and there's snakes, you know. It's like [ __ ] it's chaos.
>> Yes. And he was only free when he fought back.
>> Yeah. So courage the you know usually horror movies have the theme of vices open you up to the demons and the virtues are the only way to fight them >> right >> which is uh the good salvific redeemable aspect of some horror films many horror films >> that was actually kind of as above so below too um >> all right we got to hurry and get through that. Okay. So, >> so, uh, our next one is, um, a movie that was way better than I expected. And I have to say that I am not a fan of found footage movies. I think they're kind of played out and dumb. I mean, it was fun the first time with Blair Witch Project, even though I don't think the Blair Witch Project is that great of a movie.
>> It's okay.
>> But after 30 years of found footage movies, I was tired of like the first one. So, uh, this one is really good.
It's probably It might even be better than Blur. I don't actually think Blair Witch Project's that great. This movie was actually pretty good. And it was >> this was sort of like >> better than I expected.
>> A Tomb Raider plus uh that video game that we played with the Mesopotamian gods in Iraq.
>> Oh, the Dark Pictures Anthology.
>> Yeah. So because it starts out um in Iran with the destruction of this network of caves of like they say historical significance, right? So she >> So this chick is and she's got like what like two PhDs, something kind of crazy.
I was like now there's no 25-year-old chick with two PhDs, but whatever.
>> But she's is she an archaeologist and she's studying she it's like Indiana Jones. So she's like >> well that's why I said Tomb Raider. She >> girl Indiana Jones. She's like Laura Croft and she's going to figure out some esoteric mystery of catacombs. Doesn't she think that there's the network that's like everywhere? There's like a network of catacombs connecting all the catacombs.
>> Looking for the philosopher stone.
>> Okay, so there's an alchemical esoteric component. I remember now, >> right? That's the as above civil war.
>> And she thinks that the way to solve this is through a network of catacombs, be it Iran or whatever, but eventually it leads her to Paris, >> right? So she gets this rose key >> from the bull statue in Iran, which is like a moolok or something >> and then goes to Paris and [cough and clears throat] they talk about that, you know, it's the elusive substance that turns base metals into gold, but we all know that it's, you know, your own soul, >> right?
>> Right. So the going into the catacombs is a catabassis. It's a descent into the underworld. It's also going into the soul, right? Because the subconscious is analogous to >> the underworld. A lot of ancient mythology, uh, Egyptians and others, they would draw out the symbolism of the subconscious as a labyrinth. So, I did appreciate that the film is making reference to all that because as they go into the catacombs and as they go deeper and deeper and deeper, we find out that they're actually encountering reflections out of their own psyche and subconscious related to their own personal demons and their own personal traumas.
>> I thought that was really cool.
>> Her father was this prestigious alchemy professor.
>> Mhm.
>> Remember? And it so it's like Indiana Jones. Uh the child is continuing the search. Yeah.
>> Junior. Junior.
>> Uh she did the national treasure thing.
She did the Declaration of Independence.
>> What do you mean?
>> Didn't she steal some kind of >> Did she go full cage? I don't remember.
>> Yeah. Stealing stuff from museums.
>> Mhm. Okay.
>> And >> so apparently these networks of catacombs under France were actually built kind of late. I would have thought they were older. I don't know if this is true, but in the film it's they were built in 1785.
>> Okay.
>> When you went Did you go into any catacombs in France?
>> Yeah, we did the whole thing.
>> The whole thing?
>> I mean the whole walk around the tour and the bones.
>> Well, what I'm asking is is it everywhere way more vast like did you see a little bit of it?
[sighs and gasps] saw a big part of it, but there's no way like anybody could see all of it because it's such a labyrinth under there.
>> Yeah. And it's the same uh I want to highlight again as we pointed out when you go to Rome. The catacombs in Rome are the exact same way. So, >> um All right, let's we got to get through this quicker because we got to get to eyes.
>> So, they also talk about butterflies.
They have uh the Pepon scar on his hand, the graffiti around.
>> Oh, so she meets people. That's right.
She's meeting people before they get to the catacombs because they need to find somebody who knows the entrance to the catacombs, >> right?
>> And so she meets this uh she goes to this club. She's trying to find this dude that own that that runs a club and there's this girl who's a model uh who is dancing and hanging out with this club and she sort of she starts stalking their little Indiana Jones research team, right?
>> Um as they begin to go into the catacombs, they get further and further in. They start hearing chants and they find a satanic sect that is run by the model woman who's a priestess. And so she has sort of helped guide them and lead them into the catacombs deeper and deeper. So the chanting was actually a trap to get them to go deeper in.
>> There's um obvious symbols in here too.
The entrance is a giant skull's mouth.
There's an allseeing eye on the wall.
They've got Egyptian hieroglyphs on the wall. Um, they find a Templar knight down there.
>> Yeah. But then don't forget that they're not very far into the catacombs yet. And she notices this piano, which is a piano from when she was a kid.
>> Mhm.
>> And so, they're beginning to see and experience things that are reflections out of their own memories and psyche that are telling them, the deeper you go into this, you're going inside of you.
You're not actually going in. I mean, you're going into the earth, but you're going into yourself.
>> Yeah. Because they have to keep going down, down, down to get out. So, you have to go down to go up. It's a very as above. So, >> so everything is like, yeah, it's like inversion. It's like you have to get out of this. But it's actually a good message. I wouldn't say it's Christian, but I mean, it's like it does have a pretty good message about eventually overcoming your your sins.
And the only way that you get out of this trap is through overcoming your vices and your failures. The other thing that's interesting is, >> and I remember this from when we had a grad class on Dante, >> you get the idea in Dante that as they go down, they're actually coming out the other side of the earth. So, I don't know if that means that Dante thought it was a flat earth or whatever, but um there is this idea that you kind of can crawl out the other side, right? And that's kind of what they do here. So, uh, if you're a flat earth model person, you could probably you could latch on to this. This would be your one of your proof because they love to go to movies if [laughter] you like proof. Oh, here you go. As of solo.
>> Well, they do mention Dante's um levels of hell.
>> Yeah, exactly. Well, when [clears throat] they get lower in, they actually see like people frozen into the dirt.
>> Yeah, >> that's in the layers of the Inferno.
Well, and their journey into the catacombs is a lot like the trauma dreams of the last movie when >> exactly they were in the cabin >> because they're experiencing their own personal sins and and the the things that they did that were bad are the things that trapped them there, >> right?
>> So, they lure you away from the group and sort of trap you. Um, so there's a sort of labyrinth element, I think, which is cool to the to the basically they end up in Hades is the best way to put it. Mh.
>> Um, and that's not exactly what they expected, but that's what they got.
>> Well, and this is one of those movies where the power was inside her all along.
>> Yeah, that's the part the part of this kind of gnostic templars.
>> That's the gnostic esoteric part of it, which is bogus, right? But >> yeah, I mean, it's true that in order to be saved, you have to overcome your vices and all that, but it's not going to be done through human effort. It has to be through divine grace together with your human effort. So uh that's the point obviously where the film still ends up being Gnostic. But the whole idea of the film is uh as above so below. It's like the external world is in the internal world. The internal world is the below out here is the external world. Um, and also the network of correspondences because everything as they go deeper and deeper into the underworld, everything's mirrored uh, such that they get to a certain point where they're beginning to come out of the underworld and it's it's all like mirroring the previous stages that they were in.
>> So, does that make sense?
>> Yeah.
>> So, and that's the esoteric principle of as above so below is dialectics.
>> Yeah. any uh hermeticist is going to begin with that.
>> In other words, what's happening in the spiritual dimension and the spiritual plains amongst the powers, principalities, thrones, and dominions is also reflected in the fallen demonic hierarchy. So if you're people are into ritual magic, then you have these choirs of fallen angels all the way down to Lucifer himself or Satan being kind of the top of that inverted pyramid. So that's why it's a it's a pyramid like this and a pyramid like this, >> right? And they merge together into the hexog. So the hexog is the above as above so below symbol.
>> Yeah. And that's why it's always used amongst a lot of these ritual magic people is because you're the focal point drawing down the heavenly to the earthly. Thus, the two pyramids.
>> You've seen that classic life Levi uh in the middle of the hexag.
>> That's why they titled it uh as above so below.
>> Yeah.
>> And what is this?
>> Google sucks now.
>> Yeah. That's all weird.
>> Not Baffome, but the other one. Yeah, that >> So that image of the guy over here looking at himself in the mirror.
>> Yeah.
>> Which is kind of also narcissus. You'll notice it has a uh oral borus around it.
>> Uhhuh.
>> But the guy in the two arms looking down at the inver inversion of himself, which is the gnostic sort of dualism principle here, >> it's also a hexog. So it's the heavenly merging with the earthly. Mhm.
>> Did you like that? You were surprised?
>> Again, it was a lot better than I expected. I wouldn't go again, it's not it's not a Christian movie, but it was it was uh it was wellmade. It was uh entertaining. It had some esoteric depth to it. It kept me engaged. It was pretty creepy at certain points. So, yeah, I think this was way better than than I would have would have imagined. All right. All right. So, now we come to uh 10 years later. One of my biggest videos was my little mini documentary analyzing Eyes Wide Shut. And that was back when nobody had really analyzed it in depth.
I mean, there was a few videos out there. Rob I had done some Rob Ager had done some in terms of like more, you know, popular channels, but there wasn't a whole lot of in-depth analysis for uh Kubric stuff. And mine is I think it's still the biggest video on my channel has almost half a million which is I wish I had more but uh that video got copyright dinged a long time ago so I think that affected why it doesn't have more but uh we come back to Kubric you know 10 years ago I didn't know Vivian Kubri I've talked to Vivian Kubric several times now we've had long phone conversations um so I think I have some insights now uh it was neat to go back and see this having not watched it in many years, which is fun to do because you you'll watch an old movie with new eyes.
>> You know what I mean?
>> And anytime you have years of experience between one viewing and the next viewing, you obviously learned a lot.
So, you've integrated a lot more things into your worldview, which give you a better perspective hopefully uh years later. So, give me your first impressions watching this years after having watched it for the last time.
The opening scenes are kind of shocking, the nudity and all of that. Um, [clears throat] you notice more how dark the Nicole Kidman character is and how uncaring and cold and maybe she we keep going back and forth. Is she in on it or is she part of it or is she trying to be initiated and bring him along with her? Um, you notice how like much she is goating him along in his journey, right? his dark journey.
>> Yeah, this was something that I I've gone back and forth on. At one point I was really convinced I think when I first wrote my analysis 10 years ago um that the Alice car character is part of it and she's always been part of it and she's intended to be uh a means of bringing him into it.
>> Uh I now I'm not so sure. I keep going back and forth on it because I think there's some evidences I think in the film there's actually evidences that point in both directions. That's why it's hard to know for sure.
>> Yeah.
>> Um, but >> why would she be so cool with the ending then if she wasn't in in part of it?
>> What do you mean be cool with the ending?
>> Yeah. Letting >> she's upset crying.
>> Take her daughter at the toy store.
>> I I'm not 100% sure that they are. I don't I mean, it's hard to say for sure that that's what what's happening. I mean, she's >> she's walking over not that far away from them, >> and it's not, in my opinion, exactly clear that she's leaving with them.
>> Mhm.
>> I'm just iffy about it.
>> So, it's just ambiguous the way they Well, uh, he does have this TR FF um theme in his movies like Clockwork.
>> Maybe this is just a story about how Tom [ __ ] got gay.
This is the story of how they coomed him up and turned him into Skittles. Man, I don't know.
>> Well, how similar was the Dasha movie, too?
>> I mean, she borrowed >> I would say a lot of the themes, but they're, >> you know, hers is very much an independent movie. Mhm.
>> Uh it's a little tongue and cheek, but it's not I mean the the ending the last third of the Dasha movie is very uh eyes wide shuty. Um but what about it? What now?
Well, just we were talking about how um Kubri addresses these topics of magic and Otto and similar to Epstein and TF I C.
>> That's a good point. I mean, right. So, Dashra's movie came out before a lot of the Epstein revelations in the recent file dump and her presentation basically has Epstein as an eyes wide shut type of dude. So I guess in that sense she ended up being correct. But if we interpret Kubri as highlighting the perversity of elite networks of criminal operations, which I think that's definitely what's going on, >> then uh her interpretation makes sense and that's probably what Kubri was up to.
>> Uh I noticed how much this was an inversion of Christmas.
>> Yeah, I put that in my first analysis. I think that's pretty clear. like the the elite the way that they operate and you could look at the elite and then the as above so below like in terms of the elite and the plebs right the way that the profane operate is the inverse of the way that the so-called elite operates so on Christmas they're having ogy right they're not having you know they're doing they're doing Relly's after party after Christmas party >> a holy advent nativity you have this satanic party and they also use reverse um >> they reverse Romanian Orthodox chant. So they took orthodox chant and reversed it on purpose because it's an action of inversion. So that's why I think they are engaging in a form of sex magic to you know invert and to oppose. I would say that you know it's not exactly clear what the cult is. I mean it could be various esoteric sex cults but it's essentially some kind of an otoish type of cult. Don't you think?
>> Yeah. Well, uh, the name of the story that [clears throat] this is based on was called what? Traum novela, right?
The dream story. And it was a very like surrealist what is reality >> uh, dream state, >> right? So part of the theme for sure we know is the surrealist idea of the dream state. And usually for surrealists, especially when it comes to film making or stories, they're obsessed with the idea of well, how do we know that we actually are in the waking state or the dream state because there's no clear transition between the two. So perhaps we're always in the dream state, right?
So and we can't know. So that's sort of the question that obsesses those people.
And in this story, there is an element of that particularly with the and there's also Freudian side to it, right?
So when you have the dirty dreams coming up significantly throughout the film, especially Nicole Kidman's various dirty dreams, they seem to mirror the things that Tom has experienced in real life.
And this is one of the key indicators that is evidence that Alice is involved in or or is mind controlled as a sex kitten and maybe she dissociates and doesn't remember or she's in on it and she's like, you know, gas go gaslighting him the whole time because she's actually, you know, uh just a witch, right? Or she is not aware and then she's part of it and she's mind controlled. But it does seem like the Domino character, Domino's uh roommate, um Mandy at the beginning who is who overdoses at the Ziggler party uh and very even other women that pop up in the film. It does seem like oh uh Nala the Windsor girls, right? So that's British elites, right? The two Windsor girls that try to seduce Tom Kum into a threesome at the beginning. All of those seem to suggest that like all of these beautiful women that keep coming into Tom Cruz's life are trying to bring him into this cult.
>> Well, >> and that would include Nicole >> that and uh so it's funny that he's supposed to be a apex person like a doctor in Manhattan, rich, beautiful wife. He has everything that you could want, but he is at the um bottom of the barrel esoterically, so to speak, right, as far as secret society.
>> Well, also in the real world, too, because he encounters a level of wealth and power that is he can't even fathom it.
>> He thinks he's at the top, but >> yeah, he thinks at the top of the pol, but then he encounters this sort of Rothschild level people. And again, they're British speaking, you know, in in the ritual. I feel like Nicole Kidman's character is elite adjacent, but she has not been uh in it, but she knows that this is how you you get there because she kind of uh [sighs and gasps] when she's dancing with that older guy and he's talking about ovid and cheating, she's not like, "Ew, get away from me." She's just kind of like, "Well, this is this is the >> Well, she also might not want to offend uh some older rich guy, right? because that might be damaging to the social fabric of Tom Harford, you know, and Victor Ziggler because the Tom Cruz character look Ziggler's his boss somehow or something, >> right?
>> So, he can't they can't upset the social fabric by being rude even if somebody's, you know, trying to sleep with with with Nicole. So, uh she's a little flirty, but she's drunk, but she doesn't sleep with him. And Tom Cruz also doesn't sleep with the two girls. he goes to help uh Mandy who's had this overdose.
Right? So, we're noticing that they still are retaining their virtue. And one of the themes throughout the film is uh both characters are grappling with what they desire and controlling their desires versus the facade that they put up. That's why they have this whole argument about uh male fantasies and female fantasies. They have this debate at the beginning um where to Nicole Kimman is kind of berating him. That that part she does seem kind of unfair and sort of a little villainous because he's like I would never cheat on you.
And she's like, "But you think about it, don't you? Didn't you think about it with those two girls at the party and this and that?"
>> And it's like, but he he didn't do anything. He might have had a temptation. He might have thought about it, but he didn't. He went to help a person. So part of the film then as it plays out is Tom Cruz battling with how come everybody else around me seems to be getting laid all the time with anyone. Uh and I'm quote repressed. I'm not advocating this. I'm saying that this is the Freudian sort of side of the story. And uh that leads to him being tempted then to you know go to Domino the prostitute. I think it's pretty clear that Domino is one of the girls at the party, right?
>> Mhm. Um, so, uh, I think that there's a huge element of it, which is like the morality, uh, and the critique of marriage and the way the way that the elite are not bound by the laws and the norms that the normies go by. That's part of what this this is about.
>> Well, and they are not h they're having intimacy problems.
>> Yeah.
>> Throughout the whole movie. Yeah.
>> And that's what makes the temptation even worse. So, he goes to see Domino.
>> Uh, >> and even then, he doesn't do anything, but he almost does. But, okay, so this is weird. How does she know when he's there at Domino's?
>> Who?
>> Nicole Kidman to call him on the cell phone. Remember, they're about to do it and she she calls him and that's what interrupts him and he stops and it's like, "No, I don't."
>> I don't know that she knows or that >> I I'm just saying that's weird. Like, >> yeah. Uh >> well, and then also uh remember when he goes to his uh the wealthy guy that that passes away, the wealthy guy's wife immediately tries to sleep with him.
>> Mhm.
>> And [clears throat] he's like, "Whoa."
>> Yeah.
>> So constantly all around him. And then he also gets bered by by the he gets bered by the frat bros frat bros who are calling him gay. It's like >> so women are throwing themselves at him left and right, but his wife is unsatisfied with him. And that's part of >> and that's part of why he starts thinking, well, maybe I should just cheat because and she tells this story like, "Don't you know women fantasize about other men all the time and blah blah blah." So, she berates him, which makes him start thinking, "Well, maybe I should cheat. Why Why is everybody else all around me getting laid?" And then the frat bros start uh berating him for seemingly no reason, like, "What's up, gay dude?" Right.
>> Yeah. Uh, and then he's like, you know, they punch him and push him on the street and he's like, you know, dang, even the fat bros are calling me, uh, rainbow skittles. Like, maybe I should just go to Domino. [laughter] >> Well, did you notice that the two girls that came on to him at the party talk about going to the end of the rainbow, >> right? And then and that's when he gets to Militch.
>> Mhm.
>> And Militch is like, "Oh, you can even have my daughter if you want."
>> Oh, yeah. So, guys are throwing their daughters at him. Yeah. But it's also showing you that the elite are like, you know, they're involved in underage t r a ff i c k i n g stuff.
>> Yeah.
>> And uh and although Tomkum doesn't engage in this, he's sort of like a little tempted because, you know, all of the things that he's struggling with, everything around him is offering him that, right? Uh, and she says this key line, which is you have to be you have to pay attention to dialogue, which most people never caught. But she he says, uh, yeah, I'm going to go to the party.
They already know about the party. So, they've been supplying people for the party for a while, perhaps girls, too.
And Ley Soies says, "You'll need an Immine coat." And Immine coat is a coat worn by nobility. So, that means that Lily Sovieties knows what goes on at these parties and she's been to them. So she's been used by these people. So this is like legit Jeff Stein McGuffy stuff.
>> Yeah, cuz she was already kind of a bad girl because the dad caught her with the two guys, >> the Japanese guys.
>> And then the only reason he was mad is cuz they didn't pay.
>> Right.
>> Right.
>> And it's hard to know even when you watch the scene and then later on when the Japanese guys come back and the businessmen and then they're like paying him for another visit.
>> Mhm. It's like, well, so was that all a charade? Was the him acting like he was going to call the police a charade?
>> I think it was just cuz they hadn't paid yet and she was just doing it for fun.
That was how I interpreted it.
But it's again, it's the the hard part with this movie is trying to figure out >> like how much of this is literally organized like a bunch of damn crisis actors in his life to for him to encounter.
>> Yeah.
>> Even even to the point of the frat bros that beat him up. It's almost like because when this happens, he's being trailed and followed by people from the cult that Ziggler hired.
>> So it's almost like they know everything about his life. They know everything about him and they're organizing. It's almost like a targeted individual movie.
[laughter] Like they're organizing all this stuff around him because they have all the means at their disposal of like an intelligence agency.
>> Yeah.
>> As a highlevel sex cult.
>> They can even assassinate people. They have ritual sacrifice.
>> Isn't this a Rothschild place?
>> Yes. This is also, if I recall, one of the Rothschild mansions, too. I think it's the same mansion that's used in uh 9inth Gate, too.
>> Oh, really? I think so.
>> I wonder one of these uh Taylor Swift used in them her video too.
>> I'm not trying to be a skitso. I don't think I'm I'm not I don't think everybody's being gangstalked like all the skits do. I'm just saying that I'm making a joke about how like when you watch the movie, if you're watching it from Tom Kum's vantage point, you're like, damn, Tom Cum's a damn targeted individual. You're getting gangstalked.
>> Mhm.
>> Or more like getting gangstalked. Get it?
>> Well, her name is Alice. Alice in Wonderland, right down the rabbit hole.
>> So, we've got Wizard of Oz been referenced many times. We've got Alice in Wonderland. Um, >> you said they may be wearing masks for blackmail.
>> Well, because at the party, everybody's wearing the masks and if you're a bunch of elites engaged in all kinds of, you know, butt stuff, you don't want to be identified. So, the masks, I think, provide anonymity.
Uh, Redcloak looks like a cardinal. So, this is all again an inversion of Christianity.
>> Yeah, he's dressed like some sort of like a satanic cardinal. And he sits on a throne, of course, that is a Byzantine double-headed eagle. So, that could be a reference to, you know, Scottish right masonry or some variant of it, you know, Otto lodge that's using Masonic imagery and symbolism, something like that.
Oh, we thought maybe she was one of the people at the party. We thought maybe Nicole Kidman was up on the balcony looking at him.
>> No, I never thought that. That's Mandy because Mandy is the one that gives her life for him because she save he saved her from the overdose.
>> Oh, >> and that woman's been on Alice Jones.
They did an interview with her. Okay.
>> On Alex Jones.
>> But her dream described the ritual in detail. That's the key piece of evidence that would lead you to think that Nicole Kidman is in on it at some level is that she happens to have a dream of him at or she's at the eyes wide shut party.
So, um but she does genuinely seem to be upset when when he admits that he almost did this stuff.
>> Mhm.
>> Uh because as you see, you know, this is after her being upset and crying.
>> Mhm. Um, which she would have to be a really good actress. I'm saying if the story if if she knows what's going on, she has to be completely psychopath.
>> Uh, and that's not many people are complete total psychopaths. So perhaps she's in the cult and is in dissociates or something.
>> What do you think?
But I don't think there's any question that Domino, uh, perhaps even Domino's roommate. Um, we know Mandy for sure. Um, and then there's one other woman, perhaps even the woman that tries to sleep with him when the when the wealthy patron dies, she might also be part of the cult. It it seems as if everyone is part of the cult.
>> Even the hotel clerk flirts with them.
>> That's right. uh the guy that's in Spy Kids, right? He he uh >> is a gay dude that's flirting with Tom Kum as well. So perhaps he's also part of the cult. Yeah.
>> Have you heard the envelope theory?
>> Uh yes. I watched a video when that >> that guy put that up. Do you remember what it is? Remind me what it is. I've already forgotten.
>> I don't remember exactly. So when he goes to the mansion the next day to investigate, they come out and they hand him an envelope and it says do not investigate any further.
>> And somebody said there was a deleted scene that had more to it in the envelope saying more stuff.
>> Yeah, I remember watching that video and now I've forgotten exactly what the whole thesis was. But um the envelope part is a huge part of Dasha's version of what happens. So she yeah she she puts the envelope at the end of her movie. But so maybe she believes the envelope theory. I don't remember. But >> the other thing is uh keep in mind too there's a meta level of what's going on here because a lot of what's happening in the film >> mirrors the real life struggles of Tom Cruz and Nicole Kimman and their marriage at this time because they were married at this time and then soon afterwards got divorced. So, it's almost like Kubric was playing with the reality of their struggles in their marriage.
And you know, the character in the in the story who in the dream sequence cheats with Nicole Kidman is a seaman and of course Tom Cruz is mega scientologist and so Scientology has seg as a big part of its organizational structure. So perhaps even there's references to um Elron Hubard and the Otto structure of Scientology that's kind of borrowed and ripped off of Crowley's cult.
>> Mhm.
There's a lot of gardens imagery.
>> Yeah. That has to do with uh the VJ. So that's a classic image of the VJ.
>> Oh, okay.
>> It's also the the chaos Jordan Pearson's chaos.
>> Okay.
>> Of nature. Uh, the cult is like an intelligence agency.
>> Correct. Yes. They're very Robert Maxwell, Jessie McAffrey.
>> Is that it?
>> Um, it says he says, "What if it was fake?"
>> Yeah. So, Vagler tries to give the impression to Tom [ __ ] when Tom [ __ ] figures out what's going on. like, "Well, what if I told you all this was organized and it was all fake and it was all set up?" And uh Tom Kum's like, "I don't believe that because I saw Mandy's body in the morg."
>> Mhm.
>> And Vigler Ziggler's like, "Oh." So, uh yeah. So, basically, he's like, "Okay, then you're going to have to shut up and uh not say [ __ ] or we're going to kill you, basically."
>> Oh, is that the pool table scene? Yeah.
Okay. And then they, you know, have the explanation sequence at the end with Nicole and Nicole's like, "Well, I guess we're just going to have to deal with this." And, uh, in the magic or in the the toy store, then you see the daughter sort of wandering off. And I I'm just going to have to say I don't know. It's to me it's it's not exactly clear whether or not the daughter is is actually going off with two old dudes or whether she's just sort of standing over there and two guys are kind of looking around. Now, it could be if she is, then I would say yes. They're admitting to, okay, if we're going to be in on this, we have to give up our our daughter and that's just the way it is or else we get killed.
>> Well, I mean, that is really common in these cults is your firstborn.
>> Well, uh, you had, for example, in some of the Jeffstein McFrey emails and you had nobility saying, Jeff, can you take our daughter?
>> Mhm. She's single. Soph Sophia of Bulgaria or whatever or what whatever country it was. Not Bulgaria, but Sophia of Norway. I don't know what one of these Nordic elites was offering the daughter to Jeffrey.
>> Well, in uh the ancient world, like that was pretty much the first thing you would give to uh a god would be your firstborn.
>> So that they would give you more. But in the toy store, there's some weird symbols coming on too. Uh >> yeah, the magic circle.
>> The magic circle. You've got all the teddy bears.
>> You've got Barbie. So, she's being the little girl is going down this same >> trajectory of uh you know, maybe. Yeah.
Magic teddy bears, which we all know what that is, you know, peed o bear.
>> Yeah. And there is some evidence that, you know, Kubric was referencing some of that because many of his films do have the theme of the elite engaging in underage stuff. Uh, it's in Barry Lindon. It's in Lolita, Barry Lindon, >> Oswide Shot, um, >> probably others as well. But let's get to some of the super chats because we're going to have to I got I have to we have to call it a night.
>> The last scene is that they're having conversations about dreams and they're saying we're awake now. So they are initiated.
>> It seems as if now they understand how the world really works. They're like they accidentally stumbled upon Jeff Mcaffrey and Robert Maxwell's operation.
And so [laughter] Tom Coon's like, "All right, I guess we got to uh keep our mouth shut." Michael Geron $5. Thank you so much. Anonymous says, "For $10, I have an asking about church. How do you feel about the celebration of Midsummer or cultural pagan holidays?"
Um, I mean, Father Moses had a good video about this about Halloween. Same principle. I mean, whatever is in celebrations that isn't uh explicitly idolatry is no big deal. Uh, I don't want to engage in p pagan worship. No, none of us do. Uh, but it's our tradition. Uh, yeah, I think that there's harmless traditions. Ruie says, "For $20, this is for coffee and donuts." Thank you, Ruie.
>> Thank you.
>> Ismael says, "For $5, did you analyze Sleeping Beauty from 2011?" Sleeping Beauty 2011.
She said or this person says it is analogous to Eyes Wide Shut.
[sighs and gasps] Uh I have not seen this.
>> I've never heard of that.
>> Uh with Emily Browning. Okay. No, I don't remember this.
But, uh, if it's an Eyes Wide Shut adjacent film, yeah, maybe we should check that out because we actually did a podcast, Jamie and I did a podcast four or five years ago called Eyes Wide Shut Like Films, you know, movies like The Magus with Mile K, >> but we have not done uh this one. So, this one could work.
>> Jane Campion Presents. Okay, we'll check that out.
Liam W Liam Weintock $3. I sent a good super chat on YouTube. Take a look at that. Well, yeah, we just haven't got to yet. Let's see. So, we got the YouTube super chats. Thank you to the new members. We got several new members.
Welcome.
[snorts] Brennan says, "Jamie, debate me on what the best brand of ginger chew is."
>> We [clears throat] only We only know of one.
>> It's just that green one with the little ginger lang gingen. Yeah.
>> LAR Larer. $2. What are your favorite resources for learning the logical fallacies? I mean, I think I just had a college textbook [snorts] um from I don't remember the name of it, but any like college textbook or you could just find a book that will list, you know, the logical informal fallacies.
>> Someone says analyze City of Angels, the Meg Ryan Nicholas Cage movie. Remember that? You hate >> I've never seen it. Jamie always talks about half of it. He said this was so dumb and he fell asleep.
>> I fell asleep. That was like 10 years ago. But uh >> I was laughing. is uh doesn't he hang out in a library or something?
>> Yeah. All >> so angels hang out in libraries >> doing what?
>> Being quiet.
>> But why why are they hanging out in the library just for the hell of it? Like there's >> cool there. Okay. Air conditioning.
[laughter] It's LA. There's >> free internet.
>> And then uh so Melanie Mag Ryan falls in love with Nick Cage. Is that what it is?
>> Yes. Well, he falls in love with her and he becomes human to be with her. And >> oh, so that's a damn Nephilim story.
Yeah, it's a Nephilim story.
>> Totally.
>> I never would have thought Nick Cage as a Nephilim.
Slow boy says for $5. I like these scary movies because they're creepy but not actually scary. Yeah, like As Above So Below is a good one. Ritual was also not neither of these were scary but they were good. Bulpas $5. Jay and Jamie, I would appreciate you to review some video games. We should do that. Yes. Do it the way that you do movies. For example, check out Thief the Dark Project. It would be a lot of fun. Okay.
Ren and Bell said for $10. I watched Ton on Apple TV, The Agency on Paramount, and other shows about Iran and why they're bad and should have no nukes. I was being deprogram being programmed into brain. But at least I was not being programmed into booty. That's true.
>> Congratulations.
>> The devil wants in your butt. Tuxedo $2.
Did you hear about the band Scan Scandinavian BDAS? No, but that we should have them as the theme for this episode. Chat $10. Did you watch Archive 81? I did. Um, they do a Satanic Ritual the last episode. Yeah, it was just a little I was into it and then it it kind of got just a little too hard to follow. Kind of like the OA was the same way. The second season was kind of hard to follow. But um maybe I should give it another chance. Faith Can Move Mountains $10. Did you read the Dresden File series? If so, what do you think? I have not read that. I'm sorry. I don't know what that is. Do you know what that is?
>> Okay.
Nixie gifted five memberships.
Appreciate that, man. That's awesome.
$100 from Hobicious.
>> Thank you, Hobo.
>> 100 Hobo Dollars. We got to go down and get us a damn drink in a paper bag in honor of Hobicious, right? Remember the hobo alphabet?
>> I'm convinced that yeah, the the that's a real way to to speak hobo code.
>> I mean, if you put that brown bag around your drink, it enhances the flavor.
>> Yes.
>> It keeps it cold.
Jay, you and others were a positive influence on me learning about orthodoxy. But I have a question. If somebody's orthodox, how important is it to have your significant other also have the same worldview? I'm looking to Orthodox and my current relationship is not. Well, um, if you're thinking about having kids, then it could be s very significant because it really depends on how anti-Orthodox the person is. For example, if you are married to a Buddhist and she wants her children to be raised Buddhist, that's going to be a tough time for orthodoxy. However, the the church doesn't forbid you to be married to a person who's not orthodox or anything like that. That's ultimately your decision, but it really just depends on your case. You know, maybe she's Catholic and she allows the children to be raised Orthodox. It might not be that difficult. Um, so, and also people can convert down the road. So, um, >> I've seen many married guys convert and his wife was not into it and just by his testimony, she was convinced.
>> Yeah, that happens a lot. So, I would say be positive about it and uh there's a good chance. AC five bucks. What do you think about Bro Knap and Eyes Wide Shut and the teenage girl to Taylor? Uh, again, I don't know. We'll have to ask uh, you know, [snorts] Dasha and him are DMing, so we'll have to see what how that relationship develops. Is Garcia Garcia $5. I want to hear what you think about Nolan's Odyssey. Well, it has to be up on some illegal site because I'm not going to watch it. So, >> actually, we're gonna pair that with some Greek stuff. I've been >> Oh, yeah. She's been reading all kinds of uh histories of Greek uh religion, Greek polytheism, etc. So, >> paganism, democracy, >> Greek cults and Roman cults, which is really cool.
>> Cults and also politics and how much of the same thing it is.
>> That will tie into our Star Wars analysis, which ideally I was going to do the Star Wars analysis tonight, but then I thought we actually had this eyes wide shut one that's been waiting for forever. So, Grandpa's Kisses, $5. Did you ever see films of uh the Polish director Andre Zulowski uh Possession with Sam Neil? Yes, I have seen Possession. Um it's okay. It's a little kind of jarring. The scene is that that's the scene where the woman is possessed in the in the um it's a famous scene because she's acts acts it out very well where she's possessed in the subway tunnel. [sighs] Also watch on the silver globe. Those would be interesting films to analyze.
Yes, we should probably analyze some more of these art films. Only problem with doing the more art house older, you know, indie stuff is nobody knows those films and then no, nobody watches them.
And so, um, you know, it's fun to do. We like to do it, but like even this, you know, we had half to onethird of the normal audience when we do the movie analyses, which, you know, we're not going to stop doing them. It's just it's it's it's interesting that nobody really wants to watch this kind of analysis. To me, this is the most fun stuff is to, you know, do this. But what do you think?
>> Yeah, we always have.
>> Why do do you think it's just that like younger people are getting less and less interested in movies?
>> I just think that the world is so crazy right now that >> it's not movies aren't as entertaining as the news >> or as the crazy [ __ ] on Twitter.
>> Yeah, >> I think they are, but whatever. Because the crazy [ __ ] on Twitter is usually a waste of time. Alfonso sends 5,000 CLPS.
