You’re Moving Through Space Right Now

[00:00:00]You probably feel completely still right now, but you're moving through space at an [music] astonishing speed. The Earth is spinning and at the same time the Earth is traveling around the Sun. And the Sun itself is moving through the Milky Way galaxy. Even sitting motionless, you're already part of several massive motions happening all at once. And the strange part is your brain filters [music] almost all of it out because motion only feels obvious when something nearby changes relative to you. But out in space, everything is moving together. What amazes [music] me is that we can actually measure some of this. Not because humans fully understand everything about space or time, but because the universe leaves behind these patterns, clues for us that we [music] can observe. And by amazing providence, all this motion still produces a world [music] where we can stand still and look up.
