This video reports on Ghana's ongoing debate over South African mining company Goldfields' 20-year lease renewal, highlighting tensions between foreign investment and national economic sovereignty. The video presents both perspectives: Goldfields' CEO argues that foreign companies create jobs and contribute to national development, while Ghanaian citizens and social media users call for the government to scrap the lease and award mining concessions to local engineers and planners. The content also covers Goldfields' $20 million community development plan for Prestia Honey Valley, which includes investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation, as well as the company's efforts to lobby government officials to secure the lease extension.

π¨BREAK: Mahama PRESSURED by Ghanaians to Ban South Africa's GoldFields & CLOSE their Shops in GhanaAdded:
update somewhere last week about gold.
Golds 20 years renewal of the midst of Ghana.
South Africa, CEO of Goldfields.
If we don't take away the goldfields mines, MTN and DSTV from the South Africans, how can we fix our country too? So our citizens don't go there and suffer too can play that game.
MTN MTN building in such a way Ghanaians will be happy to live in Ghana, to stay in Ghana and to also work in Ghana.
As we speak on social media, people have started threatening must also leave especially the companies that South Africans as we speak now. Goldfields last year as we speak now April 27 on your screens or saying perhaps government should consider awarding the goldfields mining concession to engineers and planners rather than a foreign entity whose home country continue to treat our citizens with disrespect and indignity.
spokesperson for Kennedy for irrespective of who the person is.
But then if this is how we go any update as we speak PP N years as we speak now. 20 years is still pending.
Mike Fraser say they are not giving up on the 20 years.
They are still fighting 20 years because somewhere November 2025 years extension they will still fight and make sure how serious the man is, they are not giving up. They still want the 20 years extension was the most important thing. But I will say this today is that we are not going to give up in any way on Taqua. So in November last year, we submitted a lease extension for the Taqua mine, which would give us at least for the initial term another 20 years of mining at at Taqua. This will require quite a significant amount of reinvestment.
We're going to have to move a huge amount of more material. We're going to have to um invest a whole lot in additional fleet and equipment. um that's going to require additional manpower to actually move that material over the next 20 years. But what that will do is set up takqua to be a really successful worldclass asset for another 20 years. And then during that time we can consider how we continue to extend the life of that asset beyond that period. So we are very committed to to Taqua. And if there's a um a disappointment that I don't spend enough time at the mine in Taqua is because unfortunately a lot of the time that I'm spending in Ghana has been to try and lobby the minister minerals commission.
Um we're meeting this week with the minister of finance and all of those politicians who actually have a role to play in the decision about the role that goldfields has in the future. So a lot of the work that we're doing um and that I'm having to lift is to really try and present the case of why gold fields and if I come back to why gold fields and why we feel they will still fight to the end. They are not giving up on the 20 years extension.
They will make sure CEO for Goldfields Ghana with a lease extension on your screens.
President Mama, please do not renew Goldfield's mining lease. As Ganers, we cannot go after them to sell to tell South African nationals to go back to their country. But we have now reached a point where we can also mine our gold ourselves just as Ibrahim Mohamad is already doing. calls on government to scrap goldfields lease agreement as we speak now because that is what that is what is Somewhere somehow revenge.
Afric.
But somewhere somehow managed to give the lease and I said to agree in the heat of your on your screens. Heath Goldfields unveils $20 million development plan for Pristia Honey Valley as we speak now.

Today is not merely a ceremony.
Today is a statement of belief. A belief that mining must not only extract gold from the earth. It must also unlock opportunity for the people whose land carries that gold.
Today we officially launch the 5-year community development plan of HEG fields. A commitment of 20 million United States dollars over the next 5 years.
Thank you.
over the next five years, directly targeted at transforming lives across our divisional areas through investments in education, healthcare, enterprise development, infrastructure and most importantly jobs.
But before we speak about where we going, it is important to remember that we came from somewhere.
When Hitgo Fields assumed responsibility of the Bogosia mine, we did not inherit a driving operation.
We inherited a collapsed mine. A mine whose underground workings have been flooded. A mines whose operations are shut down for more than 24 months. A mine burdened by unpaid salaries, unpaid pensions, unpaid severance obligations, and unpaid statutory commitments. Today, through direct and indirect employment, the mine already supports 1,500 jobs, putting income back into homes, supporting families, and helping local businesses recover. Within 5 months of active operations, the company has spent in excess of 150 million Ghana cities on procurement within our local catchment communities, supporting local contractors and local suppliers.
Fiveyear development plan $20 million to valley $20 million gold 5 years development plan in the midst of GH So these are some of the things that they were supposed to do proud to say agree on their lease.
I don't know when they plan to do this launch but as we speak of which agreements there were there were some level of breaches.
$20 million development plan on this particular issue with South Africans especially because some of these powers agreement 30th June Africans especially we still have close to 800 Ghanaians in South Africa as we speak now as much as 300 there are still more in South Africa more than 300 close to 800 South Africa 30th gentlemen to embassy. They are there doing prostitution. You go to Laas, they doing prostitution. We go there, we touch them. Do I do you MAN TOUCH ME, I TOUCH YOU, MAN, I WILL TOUCH ONE OF THEM. If they touch a Ghanaian, I will touch them. So the law enforcement, they should BE READY ON THE THIRD. ON THE THIRD YEAR IF THEY TOUCH ANY GHANAIAN THAT day oh leave Ghana >> but you think that is the best way to handle THIS >> NO THAT THE BEST WAY BUT YOU WANT TO SHOW THEM SMALL something small pepper some small pepper doesn't the best WAY BUT KNOW THAT'S WHY most of so many times our the the let's say the big big men they trying to sit down with their need and say what they doing in stock but they not stopping almost they not stopping what they are doing so let's just show them peppe they feel they can do without Africa and so they can do Africa they need they need they need Ghana to survive. They need our money to survive. So if I feel they can do without us no problem. So if they touch us we touch me. They will touch Ghana. I will touch you.
>> You think our security agencies WILL ALLOW.
