The Truth Cast Reveal the Lies That Got Them Into Trouble | This Morning
Added:Good morning to you all.
>> I like Triple Trouble as a band threat. Uh there is one of you missing though, isn't there Ardel? It's there's it's actually a four header.
>> Janie D is missing. The legend that is J. What happened to Janie? She she obviously >> she's doing her vocal warm-up. It takes a long time.
>> So there is one professional among you.
Thank God.
>> She's she's the only real professional.
Yeah. I love how I don't believe a word of this and the play is actually called the truth.
>> Yeah.
>> I mean, tell us a little bit about it.
What can you tell us? cuz I know that there's loads of different levels to it and lies and deceit.
>> Well, it's a really funny play. That's the main thing you need to know.
>> Uh although I may be lying. Uh it's called The Truth. It's about uh infidelity in marriage and lying and the lies we tell each other and the lies we tell ourselves.
>> Okay.
>> So, Stephen, you you're what? Explain a little about your role in in the truth.
>> Yeah. So, I'm you sort of see the play through my character's eyes. I'm married to Janie, Janie's character, but I may >> Is that why she's needed the morning off?
>> That's why she needs the morning off.
>> It's exhausted.
>> Uh but I may not be being quite faith.
These two are married.
>> Okay.
>> Uh and it's about how those two couples I mean I I mean there's so many twists and turns in this play. You are literally >> every 10 or 15 minutes something or even quicker something happens to just completely flumx >> and it's lovely hearing the audience because you get you know you get a bit ah and people do sort of say things to us. Not just laughing. It's there's whooping and hollering going on. It's quite interactive.
>> Yes, very interactive. Not intentionally, but that's >> they're not throwing stuff >> cuz we've we've seen quite a lot of of publicity recently about sort of the the the engagement of an audience that isn't positive like with with >> Oh, no. This has been great. We've had people really I think they're really involved in it. And I think as the guy said that when it starts you think, "Oh, this is what's going on. Okay." And then every scene Steven is in every single scene. So, he never comes off stage. I'm a husker. These two >> is it carrying these >> two come on get big laughs and then go back and eat caviar and oysters back in the dressing room.
>> It's not what you signed up for.
>> I'm doing all the relay. It's like a relay race. We come on little shot of energy. Go off, back on, back off. But I think the audience is it's nice because people are so involved in it because every little twist you kind of go oh you think you know what who we all are and who's the good person, who's the bad person. But also, it's just a play about, I think, what we consider to be acceptable as individuals of the truth and not the truth. And some people might say, "Oh, that's just a little white lie." And somebody else might say, "Oh, no, you can't say that." And >> yeah, each of the characters in the play have has a slightly different position.
Yeah.
>> On when it's good to lie and when it's not. Yeah. Like is if there's ever a good reason to lie. I mean, I think in in in regular everyday life, like we lie a lot.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> For a good reason. Like I mean, if you're me, >> tell me I look good in this shirt.
>> Exactly. I I I tell people all the time they look great and not necessarily they don't always look great. So >> as a parent you're kind of having to deal with children and the explaining that you can't tell people the truth all the time because your child would say you look terrible in that or as my child told me this morning these look like poo shoes. Um I mean what do you do with that? You have to say well that's not very kind to mommy.
>> No it's descriptive. It's descriptive isn't it? And it's true. Yeah it is true. Did your little one come in and see the play as well?
>> Well, they were in the dressing room and there is a bit of language, a tiny bit of language, and they heard the bit of language, but they knew it wasn't me and they just said they completely >> Look at me with disgust.
>> Well, >> I haven't corrupted your child.
>> You're the one who brought him into the dressing room.
>> Now, that is a lie. I'm sure that is a lie because you are a troublemaker.
>> Stephen, it feels like you're attracted to these roles. What's going on in real life? I'm the most upright, noble, loyal person you can meet. And all I seem to play is these devious characters with sort of odd preferences.
>> I can't imagine anyone else playing this role.
>> I've got a feeling he's going for Matilda eventually.
>> That's what That's what he's aiming for.
>> Be a great crunch ball.
>> Yeah. Oh, thank you.
>> Yeah, >> that's what >> Yeah. I don't know. Yeah, cuz last year I was in a throppple.
>> Yes, you were. you came in and you know cheating cheating on Nicola Walker in the split and now here I am.
>> Oh >> yeah, but I'm not like that in real life, am I Sarah?
>> I I couldn't comment and I don't want to lie on Breakfast television. So I'm going to say Narda.
>> Uh and and we just are you you're your mid um landscape artist of the year as well, Stephen, while you've got the play happening.
>> Yes, we were up in North Yorkshire yesterday. We're back in Harriut on Thursday. So yeah, it's it's fitting it all around. The play have been very good. We're just, you know, we got two shows today, for example, in the theater. Uh, so yeah, it's fun. It's the dream to be that busy.
>> How weather affect the art? I mean, do they >> We had to wear jackets. I was wearing a quilted jacket in North Yorkshire because it was actually quite chilly.
>> Oh, really?
>> Yeah. Apparently, it wasn't so down here in London.
>> It was, >> was it? Well, I was shivering.
>> There you go.
>> Suffering for your art when Yeah. So, it's fine. But I It will be interesting to see because paints dry very quickly.
It will affect artists. Yeah. quite a lot.
>> And Sarah, what about Miranda going into the traitors? How do you think?
>> Well, I didn't know until the very last minute and then there was a little bit of frantic texting like, "Oh god, coming in." Um, I can't say anything. I mean, I don't know very much. She hasn't told me much. I know a few things.
>> What things do you know?
>> I'm not allowed to reveal anything or she'll never speak to me again.
>> Yeah. Sorry about that. Yeah.
>> Has she got a game plan though?
>> The thing about Miranda is she's incredibly clever. I know she has the persona of Miranda in the show as being this kind of clumsy klutz that is all but she's incredibly clever. So I think yeah I think she'll be brilliant.
>> Do you think a bit of a dark horse?
>> Could be. Yeah, she's definitely good at galloping.
>> Talking of galloping. Last time we saw you were in with Veto of course bouncing around the studio like really.
>> Uh what have you made of the lineup that's been announced so far?
>> Um I I think it's really exciting. I mean I think the thing is with Strictly is it's such a popular show. People just will be so excited whoever's going in. I think it it always starts off, doesn't it, with people going, "I don't know them. I'd never heard of them." And then by the end, they're all going, "Oh, I love it." So, yeah, have a great time.
>> And where are we on our crime novel series? Have we got the next one for our TV gardener?
>> Oh, yes. So, uh, the first one just came out there a few weeks ago, A Plot to Die for, and I've already started the next one. Now, I am a little bit busy at the moment getting the show up and running.
You're not that busy. I was going to say busy as Steve. Yeah.
>> No, quite a long time off during the show.
Yeah, I write between scenes. I'm writing a chapter between >> What else are you going to do with your >> I've got you covered, guys. Don't worry about it.
>> But yeah, no, I've got parts for these guys in there.
>> Carry on.
>> Tell us more. Uh >> uh and and see, can we just have a chat cuz I know you're a big football fan.
Discuss the team you bought, but uh World Cup.
>> I know. And the play, the good thing about the play we're doing is it's an hour and a half straight through. So, >> no intervals.
>> So, no intervals. So, we're out quite quite early.
>> Yeah. How do you >> It's the dream West End >> but uh the football we do I do miss the first half an hour tonight.
>> I have done plays in the West End before where people will come. We did a Shakespeare play when England were playing in 98 and people were my lord Owen 1 nil that going on.
>> Myself and Sarah will be watching it obviously.
>> You'll be enjoying it. You'll have to pass me a note.
>> I will be watching now. I've seen the Nigerian goalkeeper. Have you seen him?
>> Wow. Thank you very much.
>> We're sat right here by the way. I mean, I know you are and I wish he was. I mean, he's absolutely gorgeous.
>> I would hate to objectify a man like look at him. I don't care if you can do Shakespeare >> looking lovely in a tight top. Thank you.
>> Isn't he causing issues in relationship?
>> Apparently, relationships have broken up because of him. I mean, I can understand it. You know, people are obsessed. Women are obsessed.
>> Stop flicking your hair.
>> Very good. Very hot.
>> He's not watching.
>> Very hot. He might be. He might be.
Muker if you're watching.
>> He's a wonderful dancer as well by all accounts. Is he?
>> I just made that up.
>> How do you stop it?
>> Yeah.
>> Thank you all for coming in and joining us. It's really lovely to see you. Uh you can catch the truth. It's at the Apollo Theater until the 12th of September. Tickets are on sale
