A clear, no-nonsense breakdown that successfully demystifies the heavy computational cost behind modern visual fidelity. It effectively strips away the marketing hype to focus on the practical trade-offs of light simulation.

Ray tracing. Every GPU Feature Explained (Ray tracing) #gpu #nvidia #amd #raytracingAdded:
Ray tracing.
>> [music] >> Ray tracing is a graphics feature that makes lighting and reflections look more realistic. So, the way this works is [music] instead of just adding light to some objects, ray tracing enables the GPU to simulate how light travels [music] from a source, hits surfaces, and creates accurate reflections or shadows. And just to make this clear, let's compare these two images. [music] Without ray tracing, reflections are often inaccurate. Even though there's a light source here, you can [music] barely see any reflection on the ground.
Also, the reflection on the tire doesn't make sense because it appears on the [music] right side while the light is coming from the left side. But when ray tracing is turned on, not only [music] the puddles clearly reflect the light source, but the reflection appears on the correct side of the tire as well.
[music] But despite looking that good, it doesn't mean you always have to use ray tracing because ray tracing is mostly suitable in scenes [music] with light sources around reflective surfaces such as glass, water, or any similar objects. But if the [music] game mostly takes place in open areas with no reflective surfaces like this grass land, the difference becomes very small even when you turn on ray tracing. Also, when using ray tracing, your FPS [music] will drop since this feature requires a lot of GPU power and VRAM. And this is even worse when you use it in competitive games because without ray tracing, you can still get hundreds of FPS, but with ray tracing, your FPS will drop significantly.
