[00:00:00]I'm diagnosed with the bipolar type of schizoaffective disorder, which means that I experience bipolar and schizophrenic symptoms. What are schizophrenic symptoms? Now, if we're going to go all golly all the way woo in the DSM-5, which is backwards because that's how Tik Tok records videos.

[00:00:17]That's so funny. Um it's it it has to do with the fact that in order to be diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, you have to meet criterion A of schizophrenia. And criterion A of schizophrenia is really it's a list of five things and you have to have two or more of those five things in order to meet the criteria. So, the things in this list are hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech, disorganized uh behavior or catatonia, and negative symptoms. And so, you just have to have two of those and I think one has to be of the first three.

[00:00:53]Um but those are really what it qualifies for and so, that's why a lot of people they say that like schizoaffective disorder, you're meeting criteria for schizophrenia as part of schizoaffective disorder. And in some ways you are and in some ways you aren't, but the criterion A is the same for both conditions and that's what I mean when I say schizophrenic symptoms in terms of schizoaffective disorder.
