Jr’s story offers a sharp sociological look at how extreme surveillance forces inmates to develop their own sophisticated counter-intelligence systems. It perfectly captures the fragile nature of trust in an environment where survival depends on reading every hidden signal.

PRISON STORY: THE POLICE KNEW EVERYTHING. PT1Added:
What's up everybody, man? Welcome back to another video. If you're new to the channel, my name is Jr. I did 10 years in the Georgia Department of Correction, man. And I share prison stories. I let y'all know what was going on while I was behind the walls. Now, y'all see all the crazy mess going on in the Department of Correction, man. So, hopefully everybody is doing the right thing. Um, for everybody who had family locked up, hopefully everybody is good. Y'all checked on them for the ones who could uh talk to their family. I know it ain't no visitation going on. So y'all just keep y'all prized for the guys in the GDOC, man. But anyways, let's get into this story, man. Let me take y'all down the road, take y'all in the dorm, tell y'all how this went down. So, you know when people come in the dorm, man, this all type of people come in the dorm. And you have a guy come in the dorm. I'mma just say, call him Kev. Say Kev came in the dorm. And Kev was pretty cool. Kev was pretty cool. Laidback. He was a civilian. This time we in open dorm, bro. And at this time it was more it was more civilians in the dorm than I'll say gang members or any affiliated group.
And so God be like, "Okay, I seen Kev around the dorm. He pretty cool or whatever." Like I said, layback ballhead, mid30s, don't cause no problem. So he don't really stick out more or less of somebody who come in there throwing up gang signs, rapping loud around the dorm, tattoos all over their face, walking around with their pants down, sagging and all that. So he wasn't a person that stuck out. He was more like a person you seen and you be like, "Okay, yeah, I seen, bro." He came in one of his bags that he had nothing but paperwork in there loaded. So you be like, "Okay." So he probably be on his law work or something like that.
Anyways, as time go on, about two weeks or so, week and a half, two weeks after, uh, some stuff started happening in the dorm. And the dorm was pretty cool, man.
The dorm was laid-back. Guys was getting money in the dorm. And this dorm was real, real smooth, man. Nobody caused no type of problem. It was a lot of stuff flowing through. So, guys made sure any little thing that was going on, we'll try to nip it in the bud in the dorm.
Now, first instance, police came in one day. one of the Hispanics down in the back morning. This right after inspection or whatever, these folks came back in there. Come in there. So, you know, 12 on the floor. 12 on the floor, man. Walking to the back of the dorm.
Instantly, they went back there and just start digging the Hispanic up, digging his property up. So, everybody looking like, you know, everybody know who got a phone in the dorm, man. Even if you ain't got to tell nobody once you've been a chain gang, you know how to study movements or whatever, man. You can really just sit back and watch everything that's going on and be like, "Okay, yeah, he got a phone. He got a phone. He got a phone now." So everybody watching like, "Man, what's going on?"
Until they like this, you see you see the Hispanic face. I don't mean to laugh about it, man. But his face just got sad. He like when he seen them going to where his spot was actually at. And I'm like, damn, they just came in randomly.
And dude, man, dude don't sell phone time. He don't do none of that type of stuff. So he was one of the last person you expect to get knocked. He ain't one of the guys that be walk around the dorm, you know, with a towel or with a hat using their phone around the dorm or none of that. Nah, he was lowkey always had a tent up. Move smooth. So every caught everybody by surprise. So when the police left, you know, everybody wanted to talk. Everybody scared, spook everybody. Everybody like, man, what's going on, man? So you like, man, I don't know. I don't know. So, you know, you had guys who started speculating and it was a funny guy at the dorm named Peewee, man. Peewee one of them guys that always super paranoid. You know, he be gambling and stuff like that. So, he's like, "Man, man, we got a police in here, man. I'm telling you, man, we got a police in here, man. Ain't no way these folks just came and find everything like this." And, you know, it was true to his statement. And I know this from being in prison or even from being in jail at this time. I was locked up probably about 3 to four years at this time. But I know how things is. The police really don't know about stuff, bro. Unless somebody tell them.
Everything that you see, they come in and they go directly, they find it. If it wasn't a shakeddown or something, they go directly in and they just proven time and time again. Be like, "Yo, somebody told on that." Cuz there's no way they just supposed to go randomly find it like that. So, you know, pee-wee went on with his rant. He always loud.
So, people was listening to him, but they like, "Man, nobody want to hear what Peewee got to say." And couple more incidents happened in the dorm, bro.
Another one of the incidents, um, it was some blood guys in there. Um, it was a little argument, little violation between one of their own people and they brought him to the back, spank him real good, face got beat up real bad and stuff. And the next morning, bro, when they came in, these folks came in like everybody stand up beside their bunk.
So, man, it's early in the morning. I'm getting up like, man, what y'all want?
Like everybody get out the bed, you know, folks mad. That's one thing, boy.
Y'all come before time talking about some inspection or everybody get up, y'all. Everybody like, man, what y'all want? What y'all looking for? Everybody get up. So, they ain't really saying nothing. They just telling everybody stand by their bunk. You know, when guys get up, man, you woke up on the wrong side. You in prison, they yelling, screaming. Next thing, you know, first thing you woke up, you see the police screaming at you, stand up right here.
Put your hands right here. So, I'm like, man, what's going on? They walk around looking at everybody. By they reach down to my bunk, I kind of realize what they were going on because, you know, when stuff erupt in the dorm or say somebody's a brawl in there, somebody get beat up or somebody been put on the door, they'll come in there, they'll check knuckles, see if your knuckles been busted up, check your face, see all that type of stuff, man. Anybody got any injuries, so they come walk around going down. Going down.
You come here.
You come here. And the guy who was violated, bro, I ain't gonna lie. They beat him up pretty bad, bro. They spank him pretty bad. So, he was one of the first ones they pulled out. And then they pull out two of the guys who actually, you know, violating who was violating them. So, I was like, man, this is crazy. How do they know about that? Because it be a lot of stuff happen in the dorm, bro, that the police don't know about. So, you know, people not really like thinking about nothing crazy like that. They just, man, that's crazy how they come and pick it up. But they was like, oh, they probably watching the camera or something like that. Boom. That passed by. Was no real suspicion or nothing behind that.
Anyways, time go on and I told you like guys constantly moving in the dorm, guys going to the hole, guys getting transfer, stuff like that. Next thing you know, big shakeddown. We get hit with a big shakeddown. Boom. Came in early in the morning. You know how the whole routine with shakedown be? Get up.
They want you to strip neck. Go over there by the shower. Line up boxes and t-shirt. That's how they scream in your face. Go over there. Search. These people tear the whole dorm up. Bro, this is probably one of the longest shakedowns I've been in. But you know what's crazy about this shakedown? Two days before this, bro. It was actually a drop in my dorm. You know what I'm saying? Luckily, it wasn't Ganja, bro.
that dropper CIS Chris Browns tobacco guys got a motherload of tobacco in so usually when these guys get it in bro they try to get it off fast get it off real real quick and you will know when it's a lot of stuff in the dorm bro you see everybody everybody smoking cis they even guys that you see don't even have no money even guys that be walking around picking up the little roaches off the floor trying to re-roll them they walk around smoking fat roll up white boys. So, I'm like, "Oh, yeah. It's in here." You know what I'm saying? They selling 225 cc's for $25. That's an easy double up, man. These guys selling five full scoops for $100. I'm like, "Oh, yeah. It's going down in here." So, when these people came 2 days later, bro, and shook down. That's when the whole dorm after these people left. Now, did they find all the C eyes? No, they ain't find all the C eyes. They found some from guys who was, you know, buying, putting it up, trying to resell it. But the guy who actually got it in the mother load in, he was real slick. He knew how to move. So he kind of like sent everything out the dorm. He just kept a portion that he was just, you know, getting ready in the dorm. But the mother load was outside the dorm. So whoever sent the police in the dorm, oh, they missed, boy. And they missed. When they finished shake down, they was talking like, "Yeah, you know, they found phones, they found hella knives and stuff like that."
You know, they they throw everything all over the place when they shake down.
Bro, your property, your pictures and stuff might be way over there on somebody else bunk. You see dog paws all on your bed, all that type of stuff going, man. You know, you got to go through the whole problem of sorting everything out. Your bunkmate blanket might be on your bed. Your bunkmate sheets might be on your bed. His boxes might be on your bed, bro. These people might take your bump mate dirty clothes or somebody else dirty clothes and empty it out on your bed looking for stuff.
That's just how they do, man. It's kind of crazy. I know it might sound crazy to y'all, but that's how they do. So, they gave a speech. Yeah, we know what's going on in here. We know y'all just got a drop in here. So, that's when it caught everybody like, you know, guys start thinking back for when the Hispanic got knocked off. You know when they left guys like you hear everybody talking like yeah man somebody in here telling and there go pee-wee again. Told y'all. I told y'all man.
Somebody in here telling man. Told y'all man. I'm telling you man. Hey man. It's always a snitch in the dorm man. It's always a snitch in the dorm. But Peewee was like man we going to find you man.
We going to find you. But everybody know Peewee. Peewee like to talk a lot man.
Peewee will hear something man and not even know if it's no truth to it and he'll go spreading rumors talking about Yeah man. They say such and such telling. they say such and such tell him and he always getting in the mess about that just running his mouth. But you know guys like a lot of guys who was was major players in the dorm at that time bro they had meeting they had little meetings in the dorm like you know who they suspect and all that type of stuff and one of the person that they suspected was you know the new guy Kev who had came in the dorm. So I'm like h Kev. But I'm like nah Kev don't seem that type bro. I remember me and my bump mate was talking about it and I was like, "No, Kev, he pretty much like, you know, he laid back, bro. That man laid back. That man be minding his own business." But one thing that kind of like he be watching a lot. You know what I'm saying? Kev always watching, bro.
Even sometimes when I be trying to move through traffic, got the front like this moving. You know, I'm running phone time. So my eyes might make for him, he might like. But I never really thought much of it, bro. And I was like, man, all right. It ain't Kev, man. Kev, it ain't Kev. Kev be minding his own business, man. The man is civilian, man.
He ain't going to put himself in no mess. And that's when you had guys, they start speculating, bro. And this is one thing about prison, bro. When guys start speculating about who is a snitch, oh, they going to find all type of reason.
They going to be like, "Yeah, but you know, Jamaica went to medical three days straight. He ain't never go to medical 3 days straight." And then you might have somebody else try him in, but you know, I was in medical and I seen Jamaica. He went to the back to go talk to the nurse, but he was back there for about an hour, man. I think he telling, man, I think he telling Ain't nothing wrong with that [ __ ] man. He walking all right. He talking all right. Ain't nothing wrong with him. That's how guys is in prison. And that's what started, bro. You started hearing all type of people name around the dorm. Some guys, bro, they don't even know. Some guys don't even know nothing, bro. And some guys don't even care about nothing. But you know, everybody was pointing fingers many different ways. And you know, when fingers start pointing many different ways, a lot of people start talking over here, talking over here. So, you know, on a regular time, you might hear guys talking, bro, they might they not trying to tell, but guys will talk without even knowing that they exposing a lot of information. They be like, "Boy, you know, um, Big, uh, Big Reek got it over there. He got this over there. Such and such got this over there." That's how they talk. And that's how the police get put on a lot of people a lot of times.
But guys started whispering, bro. Guys will come to the door. Boom boom boom.
Man, who got the CIS in here, man?
Usually a guy might be like, you know, Shah got it. Nobody ain't doing that.
Guys, come on. Boom, boom, boom. Man, what's up, man? I'm trying to find some CIS. Cuz that's how you have guys do.
They might have not have nothing in their dorm. Guys might sneak from the other side of the compound just because they heard it's over here in our building or something and they heard it's in my dorm so they coming right to it. But guys might be standing up looking at him like man we don't know what you talking about man but they come man ain't no CIS in here man ain't ain't nothing in here man ain't nothing in here. And you have guys in the dorm make announcements like hey man ain't nothing in the dorm man. Anybody come to the door asking for a sh man. Sh ain't got nothing. Ain't nothing in the dorm.
Everybody start closing up like that.
And I remember, bro, I was trying to get some stuff to hustle. You know, I wasn't no big time hustler, nothing like that.
I was just flipping, you know, flipping.
Try to keep a little food in my box at this time. And guys who I usually buy stuff from like that, they'll tell me like, "Yeah, bro. I got some stuff coming in next week." They be like, "Boy, Jamaica buy a ain't nothing going on, boy. I don't know when I'mma get nothing." Everybody tight lip bomb like this. I'm like, "Man, this is kind of crazy, man. And a female officer, a young chick came in there one day and she said something. We she came in there and you know she smell the ganja in there, bro. You know people smoke.
People come in there smoke. Some officers will trip about it, bro. Some officers don't care about it. So she came in there. She was like, "Man, you know I don't care about the about the gun. Just smoke or whatever, man. But I could tell y'all, man. Y'all, it's a police in here, man. I'm in here, but it's another police in here, man.
Somebody in this dorm telling. and I ain't about to get in no trouble. So, whoever's smoking this stuff, next time I come in here, I don't need to smell this stuff. So, she was basically letting us know that she knew it was a rat in the dorm. Somebody in the dorm was telling and if she come in and she smell that smoke like that and she don't say nothing about it, these people going to get on her because the informant in the dorm, they going to tell, you know, the higher ups and they going to be like, "Oh, you ain't said nothing. You went in there and you smell that stuff."
You know, some officers don't care, bro.
You could walk around and smoke in front of them. They'll be like, "Man, some dudes, they might be like, "Man, you trying to hit this?" Some dudes are crazy, man. They'll do that. So, when she said that, definitely solidified it, bro. Everybody, I'm talking about spook, bro. Guys ain't even try to pull their phones out, man. Guys will go days without pulling their phones out, man.
Guys who you never see on that blue phone, man. Them three phones in the dorm always empty. them security phones.
Next thing you know, guys posing up like this. He like, "What he doing on the phone?" He be like, "Yeah, everybody's spooked, bro."
I'm like, "Oh, this is kind of crazy right here. This is definitely definitely crazy, bro." So, anyways, bro, one of the guys in the dorm, Shahid, now Shahid usually get it. And when he get it, he get it real good, man. So, Shahid, he had a package coming in. Boom. Package land, you know. Ganja.
This time it ain't no tobacco. It's Ganja in the dorm. Boom. Ganja come in the dorm. So the first thing he say like, "Man, look man, you know they'll try to he get his stuff. He going to separate it. He might move majority of it out the dorm." I'm surprised he even brought it in the dorm this time even though I know he going to get majority of it out. So when I heard, you know, I pull up on him like, "Man, what's up, man? Let me let me let me buy something, man. Let me buy a half zip or something." So he's like, "Man, all right, Jamaica man, man. I'mma pull up on you, man." Usually when I go down there to buy stuff for man, man, bro might be breaking it down on the bed. He might have a whole pee on the bed or a half a pee on the bed. This time, man, he don't even want me to sit down or come behind the tent cuz he ain't trusting nobody. And that's just how it is. I didn't get offended by that. I'm just like, "Okay, cool." I went back down to my bone. Next thing I know, bro pull up on me. He just like, "Man, you know where to send it." You know what I'm saying? He disappeared. He ain't even stayed kicking or nothing like that. And I understood what exactly what was going on. It was crucial times, bro.
Everybody trying to ride low. We don't know who the rat in the dorm was. And you know, Peewee, man, Peewe would make announcements every now and then. You know, Pee-Wee one of them dudes, he like to gamble. So he'd be at the spades table and he usually be at the spades table just smoking, laughing, drinking Bombay. So now he might be up there at the spades table. He might be smoking.
Guys be like, "Hey bro, man, don't be doing that, man. You know the dorm hot.
don't be smoking in the dorm. He's like, "Man, man, man, I'm sick of y'all, man.
Man, what the police in the dorm, man.
Man, you need to stop telling, man. What they paying you, man? What they pay? You need to stop telling, man." So, I remember every time he have his little rants and his little outburst. I'll just laugh, man. Cuz I know Peeweee be dead serious, man. Peeweee one of them guys, man. He just always hyper in the dorm.
So, you know, he be like to have his little ganja smoke or whatever like that. He can't smoke in the dorm. He got to go behind a tent. Oh, yeah. He ain't having that. So like I said, bro, God started looking at everybody, bro. If you talk to a officer for too long, like a guy might be coming back from childhood, you know, you might see a female officer, you stop talking to her, be like, "Bro, well, I seen Jamaica. I see that boy Jamaica on the walk talking to such and such. He was talking to Elton. Bro, you might have a real life problem. You might have to go see your counselor or something." And you out there at your counselor office, man. I seen in Jamaica up there at the counselor office, man. That boy Jamaica ain't never at the counselor office. He ain't never come out the dorm. That's how guys was labeling guys as rats. You know, people come to you, bro. Man, I think that [ __ ] Peeweee, man. At one point, guys talking about Pee-Wee might be telling I said, "Man, ain't no way."
And then Kev name started coming up, bro. But I was telling people like, "Man, hell no, man. It ain't Kev, man.
Kev going to be in nobody business for the time that he was in the dorm about 2 months." I'm like, "No, he ain't Man, that man ain't doing that, man. That man look like he's scared." You know what I'm saying? So guys were like, "Man, I'm telling you, man. I'm telling you, man.
I'm telling you, might be him, man." So anyways, now they had another rotation.
Like I said, people always going in and coming out the dorm. So it's a old school dude that came in the dorm. Now this old school dude, he kind of moved like he young though. You know what I'm saying? You could tell that Unk had sauce. They called him school. That's how cool he was. They call they called him school. So school came in the dorm.
when school in the dome, you know, he one of them guys like he like to smoke his ganja. He be hustling and everything too, man. But school used to run the parlay, you know what I'm saying? Run the ticket and all that type of stuff.
So, you know, he constantly have a lot of food. People are always coming to say school. So, they know him from everywhere. Everybody know school and Chang Gang, bro. School been doing time for a long long time. And everywhere he go, he always going to run the parlay, run the tickets and all that type of stuff. and school in his dorm. He was just coming out the hole cuz I guess he got arguing with the office on the other side or something like that. So when he came in the dorm and you know he know a lot of people in the dorm. I didn't know him at the time. I seen him around compound. So I'm like man cool as hell man always play always you know walking.
He love to walk around and smoke too.
The folk told him like hey man won't be doing that when you see like man what's up man. He's like man we do that all the time on the other side. folk like, "Man, bro, I guess somebody told him like," and he like, "What, man? Ain't no way, man." He's like, "Man, I gotta get out this dorm, man." He said, "Man, you know, I'm always trafficking food, man."
He said, "Bro, I'll be having a lot of food." And I ain't going to lie, when school came in the dorm, he had a lot of food, man. School would rent three, four people boxes out, bro. It's like six six boxes. You be have loaded with food. You know, he collected all them food from the parlays. Sometime he might strike the whole camp. Sometime nobody might not hit nothing. And sometime people might hit him. So he be having a lot of food. And I remember they came in for inspection one day, bro. And you know his guys in there that got a lot of food in their box, but they ain't got no receipt for it. And these folks was being real real petty. You have times when the police could be real petty in prison as far as like taking your food away. I had it done to me plenty of times, man. They come in, they were checking one of the guys. Police know guys that don't make store or nothing like that. guys that will get an in indigent package. So they was checking him like, "Man, you don't go to the store like, "You got too much food. You ain't supposed to have more than $60 worth of food because that's a limit that you could actually go to the commissary for." So they checking him like, "Man, you got too much food. They taking some away school food away." So school like, "What going on, man?" So he asking the officer like, "Man, what y'all doing? Y'all taking food from people now?" They was like, "Nah, nah, nah. This dorm is hot, man. They got all type of stuff going on in this dorm.
They letting you know that somebody keep telling them stuff. So we like, "Okay, cool." After that school, you know, school, he's a old chain gang dude, man.
You're like, "Man, ain't no way they got me in the police dorm, man. I got to get out of the police head dorm." And over a period of time, he was still in the dorm probably like a week. And then you heard through the grape vines, you know, people will tell you, man, tell you.
They were like, "Boy, that boy school say he know that boy Kev." You know what I'm saying? and he knowing him from like making state or something like that and he was telling down there. So I'm like that's kind of crazy. He was telling down there. So I'm like okay cool. You know guys will have stuff with that's why I tell you bro whatever you do in Chang Gang always going to follow you.
But then I'm I'm I'm looking for I'm looking for I'm looking for the signs.
You know usually when stuff happens in prison you can see signs. When a guy is a rat you will see signs. Kev, you don't really see him leave the dorm so much like that. So I'm like, you know, you see him go to medical or something like that, but he's a like a mid30s older guy, so you be like, "Okay, he probably getting a checkup or something like that." So guys started Peewee was one of the first one that said it in the dorm, man. [ __ ] man. Ain't nobody going to say it, man. I'mma say it, man. Man, gave man folks say you a rat, man. Them folks say you were right. Them folk said that why you got put on the door at Mega State, man, for telling, man. And Kev was like, man, what y'all talking about, man? I ain't doing no telling, man. I ain't doing no telling. So everybody, you know, he was in a hot seat. He was in a hot, bro. I was defending him. I was like, and even then I was like, man, I still don't think it's him, bro.
Because a lot of times I done seen it, bro. These guys, the rat might be somebody that's a playmaker, too.
Somebody that's try to knock this dude out the box because he making too much money in the dorm. They probably want to make the money. this how shisty and how crazy and how slimy these guys play. So a lot of times when the regular guys they be saying they rat, it don't be them. It be the playmakers, the ones that's getting money, the ones that getting the stuff in. They just trying to knock somebody else out of the box.
So I'm like, nah, I don't think it's Kev, man. Definitely in Kev, man. And you know, little stuff kept happening in the dorm, man. Little stuff kept happening in the dorm. People kept calling people name and stuff like that until the police that actually came in the dorm again. And when they came in the dorm one morning, they went straight to Shahed, bro. When they went straight to Shahed, they went to tearing his bunk up, man. Tearing his bunk up.
So, I'm like, damn, bro. I don't think bro got nothing in because when he get stuff in, you know, especially some of his Muslim brothers, you be seeing them, they be extra lit, bro. You know, he going to make sure they have some smokes. So I'm like they tearing bro bunk up. They back there for a minute.
Bro, this is one bunk, bro. What you doing? This a open dome tearing his box up. Then they start going at some of his Muslim brothers, bro. They start looking if he stash stuff over there in their in their boxes and stuff. So that's when it got real real serious, man. To where guys actually after the search team left, man, them folk pull up on cab, man. Them folk pull up on him dead serious, man. like the Muslim community to pull up on Kev like, "Hey man, what's up, man? What you got going on, man? We heard you a rat. Like, you got to go."
So, I ain't going to lie, Kev stood up, man. Ke stood up on them folks like, "Man, what y'all talking about, man? I ain't no police, man. I ain't no police, man. I've been gone for a minute, man. I ain't no police, man. What I look like, man?" Listen here, man. Y'all go and stay tuned for part two, man. Got y'all.
Y'all stay up, man. Y'all already know.
Stay blessed. Big up.
