37 Weeks Pregnant With Twins! We made it

[00:00:01]Hello. It's been another month. So, I think I last updated at 33 weeks. We are now at 37 weeks tomorrow with these twins, which is crazy. I did not really expect that we'd make it to 37. 37 is like full term for twins. These are die twins. They're both in their own separate sacks.

[00:00:24]But yeah, the the longer they stay in, the better because the the less help they need with their lungs, like going to Niku or Scaboo, you know, the special help units um for babies. So, I'm happy for them to stay in as long as they need, but at the same time, I am looking forward to meeting them. Um the bellies definitely definitely grown. Two babies in here.

[00:00:55]I feel like it's starting to look a bit lower, too. Like it's always been pretty round, but um we are still baby A, the first one that comes out, head down, and baby B is breach. So, the game plan that we have at this point is a vaginal delivery.

[00:01:22]Baby A comes out, slides on out like like this um and then baby B hopefully either turns themselves gets into position of head down or there is uh breach delivery. So, we've got um doctors and OBS that are happy to deliver breach and they will assist it out. Um or like the one thing you kind of want to hope fingers crossed not to happen is that baby B is distressed, gets stuck, that kind of thing, and you end up having a C-section for baby B after already having a vaginal delivery for baby A because that is double the recovery. Um, and kind of want to avoid that.

[00:02:14]I want to avoid a C-section as much as possible for the recovery side of it.

[00:02:21]Um, for all the standard reasons, but also like um my husband Nam is legally blind, so he doesn't drive. Um, so it kind of brings in other elements to the recovery situation of having to rely on other people.

[00:02:40]which I don't want to do. Um, you know, and twins obviously you need more hands.

[00:02:48]So, if I am unable to do a lot of things because of the C-section recovery, it just makes everything a little bit trickier. So, I'm hoping all goes well and both babes are delivered magentally.

[00:03:01]Um, so I stopped work at 34 weeks.

[00:03:08]I was just kind of getting a little bit tired at that point. Um, so that was both my like hair, makeup, TV work, which are the long days. So those like your 12-hour days, and then my PT work as well. It's just a bit more physical, bending over started to get hard, like all those bits and pieces. So we called it the both at 34 weeks. and I have just been nesting and prepping um at home ever since. So Damian is holding down the fort at the gym, working really hard. Um we've got the gym that he has to look after, so like memberships, PT clients. Uh he does all our website and marketing and things like that. Um as well as looks after our app. So we've got a strength training app if you didn't know about that.

It's really good for strength training. Going to plug it, have a look at it. Um, it goes to support us directly if you end up using it. And there is a twoe free trial on it. Um, so yeah, he's been really busy holding down the fort for us and I've been living like trying to live frugally because my maternity leave doesn't kick in till June.

[00:04:52]um in New Zealand. So I'm self-employed, so it's based on your earnings, but there is a cap and the total amount of time is 6 months. So my plan is to take the six month maternity leave um and then decide what happens from there.

[00:05:14]So, I'm looking forward to updating everyone on the other side of like how my birth actually transpired because, you know, you can have all these kind of ideas, but in the end, they're just guides, you know, not actual plans. So, yeah, what I think is going to happen to what actually happens could be two completely different things.

[00:05:40]Um, but super excited to meet them.

[00:05:46]I think like they're constantly moving and kicking me even now. Um, I've had three, yeah, three blood tests in the last week and that is just to check my platelets. So, it's been very smooth sailing my whole pregnancy, I must say.

[00:06:02]First trimester obviously sick, nauseous, wasn't a good time.

[00:06:09]um vomiting so much that they end up peeing like real good. Second trimester was I feel like a dream like easy. I trained hard throughout it. Um yeah, third trimester was all good, but it really started to get hard around that 30 week mark. So the last month before I finished work, it just slowly got harder and harder and harder.

[00:06:37]Um, but I haven't had any problems throughout my pregnancy at all. Like even down to things like iron, my iron levels, I've always taken iron supplements, pills. Um, so my iron's always been good throughout pregnancy. I haven't really been fatigued at all. Um, my morning sickness kind of chilled out in the second trimester.

[00:07:03]Um, I haven't had any swelling.

[00:07:08]Yeah, I haven't even got any stretch marks, which is it's clearly genetic, but at the same time, I thought I would be genetically um prone to having them because I got heaps in puberty, but apparently not for the stomach. Um, so yeah, it's been it's been really good and felt really good in my body. And I think really going into the pregnancy strong like with a background in strength training helped enormously like highly recommend strengthening before even getting pregnant because I think it really helped carry my body well throughout pregnancy.

[00:07:55]Um I haven't worked out since when did I stop working out? Probably around week 31.

[00:08:04]Um, so it feels like ages since I worked out and it is. It's like six weeks. Um, so I am looking forward to my postpartum recovery and getting back into some movement later, but at the moment we're in full rest mode. Just too uncomfortable. The ligaments um in the pelvis can get quite sore quite easily.

[00:08:29]Walking can get difficult. like I can't walk far distances anymore.

[00:08:34]Um yeah, so I'm just hauled up on this couch pretty much. I'm dropping Damian off at work. Sometimes I'm picking up our click and click groceries um and catching up with family and friends, but most of the time they come here. Um, so yeah, I will be able to update next video the genders of our babies, um, how my birth went and yeah, show you more around the nursery and those kind of things. So that is the update for me for now.
