I want to believe people aren't waking up saying that I want to be violent or criminal, but they're saying if my needs aren't met and I have to be the person that's responsible for meeting those needs for my family, what am I willing to do even if that means that I'm not alive or free? Like how do we change that mindset? I invest in these young people early on or the person that's age 27 to say, "What do you need to put down the gun and what can I put in your hand?" And maybe it's something as simple as like, "I want a job that I can work with pride."
