[00:00:00]I love your your philosophy about marriage as well as finance. We do sit on the opposite side of the table on on this one. When we got married, I was 36 and I had already worked and amassed millions. He had his own businesses. He had already worked and amassed assets and and when we came together >> and we started businesses, we did indeed start making money together, but it was a struggle for us. And I think what we have to do is be honest as phones ding in the studio. um we we have to be um you know very honest about what our stressors are and not not everybody's where you are. Okay, which is again why we had this podcast so we can draw inspiration and wisdom. For for us it was you have your account, >> I have my account, we have our joint account. Every dollar that we make, no matter who makes more or not, 50% of everything we make goes into the joint account but >> ran by trust >> ran by our trusts. Uh so ultimately it's all ours because you know we we control the trust. It's all ours but it's not even ours. It's our children's because the trust trust is for the benefit of the children. But >> I do believe that when we come together in the marriage there's the us but we wanted to have individualism and still some level of anonymity. I'm not saying that IN THE CHURCH AND UNDER GOD'S EYES THAT'S THE WAY TO DO IT. I AM SAYING it works for us.

[00:01:19]>> Well guess what what doesn't work for us is time right?

[00:01:23]>> What what does that mean? That means we have >> You cannot be about to say what you're about to say.

[00:01:28]>> Are you trying to close this?

[00:01:29]>> I'm trying because >> Let him Let him finish his statement.

[00:01:31]>> No, I'm going to let him finish his statement. I'm This is for you.

[00:01:34]>> What? My wife will go. My wife will go.

[00:01:37]You know, >> did he just shut me up?

[00:01:39]>> No, I don't think that was No, that's not what that was at all. Not at all.

[00:01:43]Not at all. Not at all. No, this this has been amazing. Right. And there's there's a part of a show where we get to say one to go on, one to grow on. Before we do that, can we have him finish his sentence?

[00:01:55]>> I want him to. That's where I'm going, baby girl.

[00:01:57]>> All right. So, I don't even know what I was going to say.

[00:02:00]>> See, that's what I'm saying.

[00:02:02]>> That's okay. No, I um we we don't necessarily have to agree on that point.

[00:02:08]And and once again, I I think that I as I look and I think about our kids, you think about your children when they one day get married. Do you want them to go into a relationship with make sure you have yours and you have yours so that no matter what you've done we it's it's it's very very different thought process but when we got married sometimes it's later sometimes there's lots of different journeys when we got married everything got married >> our families married each other >> our bodies married each other our bank accounts married each other for us. We fully embraced that we are going to be one in everything. And >> now mind you, we had the we had the deal before we got married. But the the crazy part was is that like there there were people telling him, "Hey, you should have a prenup." He's like, >> "I feel like if I do that, >> I'm saying this is going to end with an exit strategy."

[00:03:12]>> So that's what I'm saying. That is so honorable, you know, which is why it was important for you guys to be the first couple we interview because no, I think that we should want to emulate couples who are doing it successfully, not who are perfect, you know, not who've not been through anything, who've been through and they're still successful and they y'all been through everything and and you're successful. And so I think a lot of people look to you and aspire to you and you got this book, this is how we do it. And you know, I think all of that is just to understand your philosophy. We still a work in progress.

[00:03:47]>> Yeah, that's good.

[00:03:48]>> But but also I think there's um there's just a level of knowing that half of people who get married don't stay together. And so to be able to pray, hope, and work for the best, but also to protect yourself if God forbid the worst. you know, maybe there's wisdom in yours and then there's there's some logic in the way that we do things as well, you know.

[00:04:12]>> I Yeah, I I don't I don't at all. It doesn't work for everybody, >> but like you said, you're you're a work in progress and from that standpoint, uh, one, we hope you'll have us back.

[00:04:24]>> We hope we get a chance to come back and be with you because there is there's so much to talk about. Uh and then we want to walk alongside of y'all too as you are navigating to be able to you know as you get information >> you can then adjust and if if you know hey maybe that that resonates as true to me you know and from that standpoint you know when you hear about the parachute that might be something that says you know what >> maybe it is a parachute I don't know >> but if it is >> why do I feel like I need to have >> the parachute and so this could be in your journey you know it could just be a stepping stone to be able Uh, you know, who knows what happens, you know, over time, right? Sure. Right.
