Will AI Replace Jobs in Ireland? The Reality Nobody’s Ready ForAdded:
The minister today said that he also would be confident and hopeful that the people would find jobs elsewhere. But then there's research from the ESRI, which was published a few weeks ago, suggesting that up to 7% of jobs in Ireland could be impacted because of AI. I mean, it's hard to be optimistic when when you see figures like that. And and can you actually can you avoid job losses like that? Or is it just collateral damage with AI?
I think there's a there's an there's an opportunity here to to say, okay, we're trying to get ahead of it in some cases, but it is moving so fast that these leaders, AI first businesses, still don't actually know where it's it's going to go. But for most people, they're totally to get through to the next day. They're not necessarily taking a step back and looking at how they can upskill themselves. And this is taking kind of a wider perspective from businesses, from governments, different parts of the education to say, this is now a priority. You're going to have to upskill and go on this journey because the jobs of the future will go elsewhere unless we can position ourselves to show that we can actually take the leap in these these step change.
