Pathologist report: Rachel Wandeto succumbed to 85 percent burns after Mwiki attack

[00:00:00]Rachel Wendettto died from severe burn injuries following a brutal attack in Nairobi's Muiki area. The autopsy conducted by chief government pathologist Dr. Johansen Odoir revealed that Wandetto suffered 85% burns and later died while receiving treatment at the Kenyata National Hospital. Forensic experts have also collected DNA samples to help investigators identify those responsible and also establish whether the singer may have been sexually assaulted. Samira Muhammad reports.

[00:00:42]An autopsy on the body of gospel singer RTO Money Wandto has confirmed that she died from severe burn injuries. Our autopsy findings were just what we saw.

[00:00:53]Uh she had a significant bands all over the body. Actually when you look at the calculate the extent of the band it was 85% uh body surface area bands uh which led to complications which usually assume such a bands leading to a death.

As you know the skin is usually the largest organ in the body and it protects your body in many things contain water in your body contain electrolytes contain proteins nutrients it also ensure that you prevent you from getting infection so once you get such excess burns complication come in and all those things can lead to your death and that's why she died. Hansen further revealed that the forensic teams conducting the autopsy collected DNA samples to assist investigators in identifying the perpetrators and determine whether the deceased had been sexually assaulted before being set on fire.

[00:02:03]>> To that also we took some samples for analysis. Uh we don't know whether there was some sexual assault in her. So we taking some swabs which will be analyzed also to find out.
