Dr. Zahrai provides a sharp, accessible explanation of overthinking as a misguided survival mechanism for uncertainty. It’s a useful framework for self-mastery, though it leans toward a polished, corporate-friendly simplification of complex cognitive habits.

Why your brain won't shut up | Dr. Shadé ZahraiAdded:
What do you do if you are constantly overthinking everything? So, if you're constantly overthinking everything, overthinking is a sign that you do not feel like you have control.
And it's your brain's attempt to try and manufacture certainty when there is none.
Your brain says to itself, cuz the brain likes to be really efficient, it wants to save energy.
And so, it's fundamentally lazy. And so, there's this part of it that goes, "If I can anticipate everything that could go wrong, then I have to expend less energy when the consequence eventually happens." And this is why we get stuck in those loops of everything that could be out of our control. It's also what reinforces low acceptance, because we start overthinking, "Do they like me?
What did that mean? How come they haven't replied to me?"
Or agency, "What if people find out I can't do this? What if I mess up there?"
So, it's all a reflection of low autonomy.
