In grammar questions, when the subject is 'interplay between' followed by a list of items, the subject is singular and requires a singular verb (e.g., 'elicits'), because 'interplay' is the main noun and the items after 'between' are objects of the preposition, not part of the subject.

Impossible Grammar Question (June SAT)本站添加:
Grammar section, no transitions, jump straight to your blank space sentence.
Often, interplay between the work shimmering overtones and resonant partials parentheses don't matter and its meticulously calibrated harmonic textures blank an atmosphere of glacial luminosity.
So, let's get rid of everything extra before we analyze this so we can get rid of what's in parentheses.
Get rid of all your adjectives. We don't need this. Get rid of shimmering, resonant, and even often. We'll start at interplay.
And then also to clarify in your hard module two of grammar, if I see verbs, there really is only two problems you're going to be getting.
Subject-verb agreement and ing verbs.
So, we would only ever answer an ing verb if my sentence already has an active verb.
So, our subject is all the way from interplay down to textures. So, you can see subject, we are missing a verb here.
So, it's not going to be this.
Our other most popular hard module two grammar is subject-verb agreement. That is is my subject plural or singular and then I have to pair it with the correct verb.
So, in this case, technically if you had to guess, both of these are going to be plural, right? They elicit or they have elicited. So, you could maybe guess A cuz it's the one that stands out.
But, I want to get even more specific here just in case that wasn't the case.
Um this is going to be like an interplay problem.
So, interplay between is going to be a singular start and then listing plural things. They could reward this. They could say the interaction among, right?
And this would be as opposed to our header noun interplay being plural.
Imagine they said the interactions between.
So, as if you ever see a phrase like this like interplay between, this is going to define whether your noun is singular or plural.
They can list as many things as they want after that. The interplay is going to be a singular noun, so I know it's going to be a licit here.
If they had something here that was like the interactions between, I'm not sure they would have had this plural. They probably would have had this singular.
And then it would have been a licit if it was interactions. So that's all. It's going to be a here.
