Acceptance means learning to stop fighting what you cannot control and acknowledging reality, rather than being okay with what happened; it involves choosing self-care through boundaries, therapy, or healing work, and refusing to suffer by wishing things or people were different when they're not.

Acceptance doesn't mean you're okay with what happened追加:
We think acceptance means being okay with what happened or what's happening, and that's simply untrue and unfair. You can't be okay with hard things that happened. That's going to put you in an incongruent and a dissonant place.
You're not okay with it, but what acceptance [music] is is learning to accept a reality that you can't control.
It's learning to not fight that which you can't control. When we're not accepting, we're wishing things had been different. We're wishing the people around us would be different, and that inevitably leads to suffering because we can't control other [music] people, and we can't rewrite history. But what we can do is acknowledge that what happened happened, or people are the way they are, and then choose to take care of ourselves in that difficult process, whether it's speaking up, or having boundaries, [music] or going for therapy, or journaling about your healing work, or what you want to do to help yourself heal. So, remember, acceptance isn't about being okay. It's not just kind of like putting your hands up and saying, "Okay, I'm okay with what happened," because that's [music] not fair. You shouldn't be okay with what happened. It's about learning to not challenge and fight what's already happened. It's a learning to not fight what [music] you can't control.
