Jailbreak Redeye Swapping My Brand NEW HELLCAT MAGNUM SHELL!
Added:Today, it is finally time to get all the drivetrain that came out of the '22 Jailbreak Charger Redeye into the Magnum. And everything that needed to be converted on the Magnum so that drivetrain bolts directly into the car has been done. The engine bay has been painted, the underneath of the car has been undercoated, and the interior has been modified and undercoated as well.
Everything looks brand new, so let's get to work and we should I've done this a million times, so it should just take 1 day to get all the drivetrain in the car and it will be running and driving. It will need to go to the alignment shop and it will also need the AC charge.
Since it is a Redeye, the chiller cools the supercharger coolant, so you have to have the AC working on Redeyes or they'll blow up. So, let's not do any rips until the AC's charged. Plus, you want AC. I'm too old to not have AC.
the silencer pad in and I'm not sure what material Dodge makes these out of or whatever company makes these for Dodge makes them out of, but they are the most delicate things in the world. I'm just going to warn you now, you'll be lucky to get one of these out without it cracking. I mean, they just literally come apart whenever they can. And if they get any sun, this one is out of a '22, you can still see it's pretty oily right here.
Usually they get kind of like this color right here, this brown color. And once they're that brown color, if you come in and move this up and down like this, it will just break. When you undo these clips, usually they just break. So, uh yeah, I'd be very careful with these silencer pads. And this is why I convert the cowl, cuz as you can see, it clips right in. It doesn't normally clip in on the Magnums. And on the Magnums, this is where the dash bolts on the cowl, and on the So, on the Magnums it's over here, on the Chargers it's over here. So, if you put a Charger dash in a Magnum, it's going to not bolt in.
Or it will bolt in over here, but it'll make a lot of squeaks. So, it just makes more sense for me and everybody to convert these, so then we don't have any squeaks and it is more professional.
>> You said >> It was just cracked, so >> You said you welded it?
>> I welded it.
>> It's a brake line?
>> A brake Well, it's the It is the brake line.
>> I have a full suspension kit from AAD Performance for the car, and what I normally do is I break all four of these loose because it makes it a lot easier. I've shown this before, but you can see these aren't going to flex, but I'll show you how easy it is to put them in when they do. And now these flex.
You can hear it, but you can't really see it because I'm moving.
They move in just a little bit. You can kind of see it there. Don't have these loose like this, so it moves back and forth. They're very difficult to get in.
Once they're in and the bolts are in on the upper control arms, you tighten these down. They have to tighten them down when they do the alignment. The other great thing is these have spherical bearings.
So, you can torque all of these bolts down and then put the whole car together and not have to worry about torquing it with weight on the car because if you don't do that with the factory arms and you torque them in the suspension's droop like this, when it is at ride height, it's putting pressure on these bushings. But since these are spherical rod ends from AAD, or not really rod ends, but spherical ends, they're just in billet housings.
They will move back and forth freely when they're torqued down. You want to torque all these bolts down, and these are the best upper control arms that you can get for a Hellcat.
You can see how easy that one in.
They're really nice.
>> Woo!
>> The drivetrain is completely in the Redeye Jailbreak Hellcat Magnum with one exception. The drive shaft that came out of the wrecked charger was actually damaged and I didn't notice it until I pulled the fuel tank and saw and I pulled the drive shaft. It had a little arrow right here and it says bent.
Which is kind of crazy. So, I didn't think anything of it. I thought it was just the the body shop was just making the insurance adjustment high. But, you can see all the grease coming out of this drive shaft. And it was all over the fuel tank.
So, I'm going to order a Wild's one-piece 4-in aluminum drive shaft for this.
Best to just upgrade it while you can because these factory drive shafts run from $400 to $800 depending on where you get one.
And it's just kind of crazy that that happened because these subframes are pretty well bolted in there and it's really hard for the diff to move forward as well as get tweaked, but I'm guessing the subframe must be bent enough for that to have happened, which still in my mind is crazy because that joint right there has quite a bit of in and out movement and side to side movement. So, just is crazy to me that that actually was bad. So, we will have the drive shaft. This thing is very close to running and driving. We have all the AAD Performance adjustable arms on it. It will need to get an alignment.
And like I've said before, before I go and get alignments, I center the subframes because all the arms that are adjustable and how I do that is on the lift, I leave the subframe loose, the mounts loose, and not all the way off, but just loose, and then you lift it up and the subframe will center from the shocks being bolted in. And it'll center it front to back, perfect caster usually, and side to side. The same thing with the rear, and then you don't have to worry. As you can see the rear, the back wheel, and then we come on this side. I'll close this door.
You can see it's perfectly centered and it hasn't alignment shop yet. So, it still will need to get aligned because it's all adjustable arms, but it just makes it easier to align because then you're working with something that's a little bit more even. And it's nice to have that new rear subframe or that low-mile rear subframe that isn't out of the wreck car in there cuz that subframe obviously must be bent to a significant amount to mess up that drive shaft, but the great thing is the drivetrain is all in here ready to go and really all I have to do when I put the drive shaft in, fill the coolant up, fill the supercharger cooling system up. This is a Redeye so it has the chiller option on it and everything up here besides the radiator support and the front bumper and the fenders which he has fiberglass front Charger fenders. We have the Charger hood and once I get the core support painted the same color as the engine bay as you can see that looks super nice.
And oh yeah, we have the cowl. This all looks super nice. This all clips in like factory.
Once the core support and the bumper support are sprayed, I'll be able to go and get this whole thing the whole front end assembled. We'll go take it for the alignment and then there's just a little bit of wiring that I'm going to do in the next episode as well. I'm not even going to tackle it in this one since I'm going to have to wait probably 5 days to get that drive shaft but as you can see all the front stuff is pretty straightforward but once you get to the back there's a lot that changes and I need to talk to to see I need to figure out if I'm going to end up using these because I really don't like them.
They're from Speed Logix. Um not exactly sure what they're trying to accomplish here. On the Magnums they have this whole hatch area which reinforces the strut towers really well and they don't flex but then you have these. They're kind of nice because they bolt to where the seats bolt but then what what's what's this going to accomplish? If this bolt comes out and then I bolt a nut to it it's it's not really going to accomplish much. So the front one if you guys were looking at my Instagram that thing fits like complete dog and then these they're under car braces that you're supposed to weld in. The issue with welding these in is if you ever have to do anything with the fuel system or the brake lines, you're completely screwed. You'd have to cut these things off to do anything or the parking brake cable, any of that stuff. If these are welded in right here, you're done. And you really don't need to stiffen the Magnum chassis just because they're so stiff to begin with.
I've said in previous videos, the Magnums, they're just a completely different animal. I think it's because the whole hatch structure in the rear makes them way more rigid in the rear. So, super excited. In the next episode, I'll be able to get all the interior in the Jailbreak Redeye Hellcat Magnum, as well as all the wiring done. We'll get the drive shaft in. The car will run and drive. And then I'll be able to take it over and get aligned. But, I'm going to end the video here.
