The video turns a high-risk psychedelic into a trendy wellness miracle, dangerously oversimplifying complex neuroscience for a general audience. It prioritizes a catchy "brain rewiring" hook over the serious medical reality and safety risks of the substance.

The Psychedelic That Could Rewire Your BrainAdded:
Ibegan is sort of the rock star of the psychedelics because the trip lasts 36 to 72 hours and that extremely long trip uh research in my lab has shown to be correlated with an extra-l long open state of the critical period. Critical periods are windows of time when the brain is especially able to learn from its environment. There are lots of critical periods. critical periods for language, critical periods for visual processing, and by the time we get around to intervening in most diseases of the brain, the relevant critical period has closed. And so neuroscientists have known for a long time that if we had some method for being able to reopen critical periods that that might be very useful for curing diseases of the brain.
And so the Ibegan critical period, we didn't measure it all the way out, but you know, we measured out a month after the trip is finished and the critical period was still open. So we predict that um it's going to have the this longest open state of all psychedelics.
